    Loving this printer!

This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Having said that, I depend on online reviews before making important purchases and my opinion isn’t for sale. The following is my honest view of this new device. If you haven’t bought a printed recently, the world has definitely changed. Gone are the days of having to locate it close enough to your computer to connect by a cable and worrying about running out of ink in the middle of an important job. Over the years, I’ve owned tons of printers and currently use an Epson Workforce Pro WF-4630 in my home office. This is a big beast of an “all-in-one” that prints, copies, scans and faxes (yes, there are still occasions to fax); hardwired to my local network. It prints very quickly but still uses crazy-expensive tiny ink cartridges. If you depend on your printer, you need to keep plenty of spares on-hand. Honestly, this is far too much printer for my needs. I was anxious to install the new ET-2600 and put it to work. Unpacking and installing was a breeze. The first step is filling the four tanks using the included bottles of ink. The tanks are located on the right side of the printer and you can easily verify the ink levels because the tanks are translucent. It takes around 20 minutes for the printer to prepare itself after you’ve pour in the ink. According to Epson, the supplied ink should produce up to 4,000 black or 6,500 color pages. They calculate that being equivalent to around 20 sets of “normal” ink cartridges. Of course, the number of pages depends on what’s printed on each page (i.e., your mileage may vary). They say that’s “two years of ink” included in the box. 4,000 pages over two years would equate to more than 5 pages every single day. In my case, the included ink will probably outlive me. If all that’s true, considering the cost of traditional cartridges, this new printer is the deal of the century. I elected to connect the printer to my network using WiFi. You’ll need to have a 2.4 GHz capable router because the printer doesn’t access a 5 GHz band. I used WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) to connect since most modern routers offer this feature. If you don’t have WPS, you may need to fiddle to get your printer to connect. Using WiFi, the printer became available to all my other network devices. If you prefer, you can connect the printer directly to your PC using the included USB cable. If you don’t have a cd drive, you’ll need to navigate to Epson’s site to download the installation program. No sweat at all. As soon as the printer was online, it installed updated firmware. The installation program also installs a tiny program that runs in your computer’s background and monitors for updates to your printer. After that, I was ready to begin spitting out pages. The print quality is excellent as I’ve come to expect from Epson. I know it isn’t quite fair to compare the speed to my current “beast” but printing (from files or copying) isn’t very fast. If you’re not used to a faster printer, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the ET-2600’s speed. The printer holds enough paper to get me through at least a week. Once the printer is installed, you have the option of using Epson Connect. This allows anyone to email a document to [email protected] from anywhere and it prints out on your ET-2600. You can also print to it from any device you have, iOS, Android, etc. Very handy! Epson has changed the “razor / razor blade” model. In the past, printers were inexpensive and came with tiny “starter” ink cartridges. Manufacturers knew we’d be attracted by a cheap printer price and then pay up for years of overpriced refills. The ET-2600 is part of Epson’s new collection of printers that cost more but are much more convenient while total cost (printer plus ink) over its life will likely be lower. The question is whether you want to save up-front and then worry about running out of ink or pay a fair price and then just forget about the ink. I like the Eco Tank idea and can’t imagine going back to paying a fortune for a thimble-full of ink. Another feature I like about this printer is that there is only a simple power cord to connect. With other printers, there was a big brick between the printer and the wall outlet. This makes installing and moving the printer much simpler. The printer is compact and lightweight. Someday your back will thank you. The size and WiFi capability means you can install this printer anywhere. I love this printer! If you need a great, compact and intelligent printer/scanner/copier, you can’t go wrong with the new ET-2600. Good job Epson!

This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. The printer was very easy to setup out of the box. If Epson has put a sticker on the front of the printer on how to activate Wi-Fi Protected Setup and charge the ink tanks I wouldn't have had to even open the quick start guide. Plenty of ink is included, and while I didn't spill any adding it I did push one of the containers hard and get a large ink bubble I sucked down with the bottle before it popped. I connected this printer first wirelessly to my router without using the included setup software. Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer for about two seconds, and when it flashes press the WPS button on your router. That simple. I've used the printer to make prints from both my Windows PC and iPhone. You must use the free Epson iPrint to use the printer, it is not AirPrint compatible. I did find the iPrint app to be very good, allowing me to print right from an iPhone, or scan from the printer to the phone. If you were an iPad only house with no computers this printer would work great. It does appear pictures printed directly from the phone are not as vibrant as those printed from a computer. Also, it doesn't appear to have a way in software to check the ink levels, you have to raise the printer's side door and visibly look.

I received this printer to test and love it. This printer performs well. Setup was fairly easy, though the quick start guide requires you to use a USB cable that is not included to set up. If you push the Wi-Fi button for 3 seconds and then your WPS button it will connect. This is not mentioned, but helpful. You can then run the included installation disc from a computer on the network. I love the idea of ink tanks over cartridges. They filled easily and are so much cheaper than a cartridge. It amazes me it took this long to move from the commercial world to the consumer world with this technology. Set up does take some time, as it takes about 20 minutes of priming before you can print, and the ink will stain your fingers so wear gloves. During the priming its very loud, however it is very much worth it. Print quality was outstanding and the scan functions worked well. Overall I would have to give this printer a great recommendation. I can’t justify 5 starts as I feel for the price it is lacking Ethernet, print speed, and should have included a USB cable. “This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.” My overall opinion of this pruduct is satisfactory. The Color, Style, and packaging of this product was good. After setup I was able to print, copy and scan high quality images and ducuments for my computer, smartphone and tablet. The device also supports cloud printing. I would recommend this product to a range of consumers limted to those whom have acess to a PC/Mac for Network and device setup. The EcoTank 2600 is great for those who need a reliable printer for everyday use without spending a lot of money and time on inkcartridges. While unpackaging the product I noticed the contents does not includes a USB cable. A USB cable is required for network setup. You will not be able to connect the EcoTank toyour network without a computer. Adding a LCD screen to the device for network settings would eliminate the need for a computer and make the pruduct available to consumes that only own tablets and/or smartphones. The device also lacks a memory card reader and USB host port. In my opinion is not a deal-breaker since the files can be easily transfered to your printing host device. The large and easily accessible ink resivors make the product more efficient and a saver for those who print alot. Also svaing ink cartridge waste. That makes the product Eco freindly. I had a great expierence with the product. My only issues was the product requiring a USB for network setup. It's also not included so I had to go out and buy one. Other than that I highly recoment this product.

Given the fact I am a college student every dollar I spend counts. I formerly had a All-In-One printer by another brand that almost monthly I was replacing the ink cartridges at around $45 dollars for both. With this printer I am able to replace all for inks for nearly the same price but that cost accounts for the equivalent of 20 cartridges in my old printer. I absolutely love the fact that on this printer all you have to do to check the ink levels is look at the windows on the side of the printer. The quality of prints is very good and the network setup is a breeze. I have even been able to print notes from my cellphone to my printer at home dung a lecture at my college. The scanning resolution is amazing and best of all for me (I am a computer science major) the manufacturer is actively updating the firmware on these devices and the network setup software makes the connection between the printer and your router highly secure. I see so many printers on both home and business networks that are open for anyone with basic networking knowledge to easily get access to connected network and any confidential data on it but not with this printer. The "What's Included" section on BestBuy.com states that this comes with a replacement 664 ink bottle for each of the four colors. I just want to point out that this is not the case as the printer comes with 4 bottles of each color ink and the quick setup guide states that "The ink bottles included with the printer are designed for printer setup and not for resale" Meaning that the ink bottles are for when you first use the printer and are not replacements. But honestly I have printed several hundred documents and have yet to notice my ink levels go down noticeably. I bought this to replace an HP that had ink issues. Easy to set up and install. The instructions were clear. I've only had this a couple of months so haven't had to refill the ink cartridges yet. Initial filling was easy. A bit of operator klutziness caused the yellow to spill and it takes a couple of days to wear the color off your fingers! Print quality is good, certainly comparable to the HP that was replaced.

Some people have downgraded for a lack of features. To me this is a plus that keeps the operation simple for 99% of the operations I perform. Savings on ink should also recommend this to most consumers. Have not tried printing photos yet, but will be giving it a try.

Epson has done a wonderful job packaging the product. At first glance, the box is very compact and colorful. Epson clearly highlights the product features on all panels of the box, including the fact that it includes enough ink for two years right out of the box. One point to note is the small print on the top flap that indicates you will need to pick up a USB cable as it is not included. Epson really dropped the ball on this one as I have seen much cheaper printers for sale of a lot lesser quality that always included the necessary cable to connect it to your PC. USB cables are very cheap and this should have been a no-brainer to include it with a printer that retails for $279.99. Upon opening the box, it is clear that Epson took great care in ensuring the product would be well protected. All components are well secured with foam packaging material and removable tape, and each individual ink bottle is vacuum sealed in a protective bag to prevent leaks or damages to the items inside the box. Removal of the packaging material is very simple, and each small piece of tape is easily removed from the printer components via the plastic tab. The printer design is very compact, packing several core features into a small package. The control panel is nicely placed centered in the front panel and has a nice tilt feature. Controls are very simple to operate and easily identified. Both the scanner cover and the paper feed are a little on the thin side and could have been made a litter sturdier in my opinion. Filling the ink reservoirs is very simple - just remove the rubber cap and fill with the provided ink bottles. The ink will stain hands and clothing, so you may want to wear a pair of gloves if you are concerned about getting any on you. I really like the fact Epson even made a small holder next to each reservoir to hold the cap while you are filling the printer with ink, and also the fact that the rubber caps are on a tether so that they do not become lost during the process. The included ink with the printer is the equivalent amount of 20 ink cartridge sets and will print up to 4000 black/ 6500 color pages. I really enjoy the fact that I can fill each color independently as it runs out and not have to replace all colors at once. Setup of the printer is very simple, however going through the quick setup process requires a USB cable which is not included. The printer also supports printing via WI-FI, and easily connects to your router using WPS. One downfall is the fact that the printer only supports 2.4Ghz networks - 5Ghz networks cannot be utilized. Before first use, the printer has to be primed once the ink is installed. This process is quite noisy and lasts approximately 20-25 minutes. Printer ink levels can be viewed via the clear ink windows on the right side, however this placement makes it difficult if placing the unit in a corner or the right hand side of a desk. Once the priming process is complete, printing is very straightforward from any application at at a rate of 10pps black / 5pps color. Color is very vivid on any printed media, and photographs come out great. I would recommend allowing photo paper to dry before handling the paper as the ink can be somewhat damp when it emerges from the printer. Scanning and copying is quick and easy thanks to the one touch feature. The unit only has the ability to do flat panel scanning one page at a time as it does not include a document feeder. Despite the few minor points in which I have mentioned, overall the printer is a wonderful product. I could not be happier with the included core functions, quiet operation, color quality, and overall design of the printer. Epson's Ecotank technology is a wonderful concept, and I highly recommend this printer to individuals who print large volumes of documents. This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I found this printer to be easy to use, very nicely designed and not complicated to understand the controls. It was amazing how much ink is saved and not used to get the same quality of printed pages and photos. The EcoTank really makes printing for a small company as mine a whole lot better! The no ink cartridge thing is very cool! I don't have to buy a specific kind to replace the old cartridges, instead just the ink which is a whole lot cheaper. Also, it doesn't run out so soon. Instead, I get plenty of pages, some days I print over 100 and have no difficulty with each coming out perfectly. I am so amazed by the speed and the results. Plus with the wireless capability, I don't need to hook anything up. I can print from a distance, one part of my office to the next. The wireless connection does work with my phone and tablet, but I print mostly from my computer. However, I do love the capability to print from either device, and I should mention that the size of the printer does make it much more portable and doesn't rob me of my desk space! Finally, I am very happy with this printer, it is a gem to my daily printing and great on scanning too! “This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

This is a review for the Epson Expression ET-2600 EcoTank All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. This review is a result of my personal use and will offer an unbiased overview of both my positive and negative observations while setting up and using the Epson ET-2600. Starting with the setup, the first thing I noticed was how well compact the printer is. It has a much smaller footprint than the HP printer we had been using. The setup and connection to my iMac was relatively straightforward. I did have to connect the printer via a USB in order to initially get through the setup wizard, which was a bit of a setback because the printer does not come with a USB cable. This printer cannot be setup wirelessly. This was not a huge deal since we had a couple of USB cables in a box in the basement, but definitely something to be mindful of if you don’t have one, or will need to go searching for one. Filling the ink tanks should definitely be done with gloves on (as per the instructions), while the printer is sitting on a covered surface, and if you have such a space available- do it in a non-carpeted room. The first two ink bottles opened and went into the tanks uneventfully, but the 3rd bottle was pressurized somehow and managed to spray bright magenta colored ink onto our carpet. If I could do this part over again, I’d do the filling in the garage. Taking the recommended precautions like wearing gloves and covering the desk was not nearly enough. Once the printer was set up wirelessly and the ink was charged (I’m still not exactly sure what this does, but it takes about 15-20 minutes), the printer produced GREAT looking prints. The images and text were both clear and vivid. I don’t know that I have ever seem a home printer produce better looking pages. This, honestly was very impressive. To see the quality of print output and knowing how long the printer’s ink lasts, it was almost unbelievable. The Epson ET-2600 is both quick and reliable. Our HP randomly would just not print. We would wirelessly print and walk to the office to pick up the page & it just never printed sometimes. This Epson printed every time without fail & the quality of the print never failed me while I was testing this. As for the ET-2600s other features, I was not as impressed as I was with the printing capability. The print quality itself is great, and the long lasting Eco-Tank ink is amazing but the other features are a bit lacking. The biggest drawback I faced is the scanning capability. It is strictly a flatbed scanner. The need I usually have to scan multiple pages at once makes this printer downright unusable as an office scanner. I had to place a sheet face down on the scanner and scan one sheet at a time. This wouldn’t be that bothersome, except after talking to Epson tech support I was told that the buttons on the front of the printer can only be used to scan WHILE IT’S CONNECTED BY USB!?! If connected wirelessly, scans cannot be initiated at the printer. It has to be done using the scanning software on the computer. I am hoping tech support is wrong about this, but I haven’t found a work around, so it appears as though this is how it is intended to function. It’s like I was time warped back to 1996 with this printer’s scanning ability! With my HP, I could put 7 or 8 pages in a sheet feed scanner, hitting the scan button on the printer and walk to the computer a couple of minutes later and open the newly created PDF. With the ET-2600, I had to line up a sheet on the flatbed, walk to the computer in another room, hit scan, wait, walk back to the printer replace the page with sheet two, walk back to the computer, hit scan again, wait, walk back to the printer, replace sheet two with sheet three, walk back to the computer… you get the idea. What used to take two minutes now takes an eternity of back and forth. I get an extra 1600 steps on my fitbit though, which was a nice unexpected bonus.
