    Incompetent technician cause water damage

    The agent was trained improperly because she had to YouTube how to open the Washing machine and she ordered the wrong parts several times. Also, when she was requested to repair washing machine and she failed to zip tie the drainage tube to drain in wall. In result of her error, she caused water damage on my floor and living room ceiling because the drainage tube was shifted into the direction of laundry area wall instead of drainage downspout. To make matters worse, the customer services rendered was subpar and insulting because they don’t have a policy that holds their staff accountable for errors. Avoid getting geek squad services because their new staff is ill equipped in regards to appliance repairs at the Waldorf (Maryland) location. They ruined my house and my family’s summer.

    I would not have known whether I needed Digital, Analog, or Coaxial. What I learned from the process was well worth the $100. Education with regard to making decisions is priceless, not to mention they will give me a $100 off when I purchase my new TV. It's a win-win situation!

    When my CD Recorder broke due to a moderate power surge - The Output Jacks stopped working and so the player still played but did not accept sound when recording. Tried numerous pieces of equipment but still could not accept sound on the output jack. Anyhow called the Squad and they set up an appointment and said they could fix it. I arrive there and they tell me there is not much they could do but may be able to do something like send it out - then the manager of teh department turned me away. He was polite but unhelpful and said though they may know how to fix it the only do so for newly bought equipment. I am VERY ANGRY. I asked to see his boss and he refused. This organization is joke. They likely do not even know how to program a watch. Also when I needed help finding a product some worker was on his cell phone and refused to help me and told me he would be a minute. He was about 20 minutes. I saw him outside talking on his cell at some points. Easy job when you do not have to help a customer and can be on your phone all day.

    Poor Online and Phone Service

    Have issues/need in-home appt for 2 PCs. Agent on chat terminated my chat after she/he asked for my address. Phone call/tree unsuccessful to local store and call center because I wanted a call back due to wait time, and after confirming a call back to my number, the system response was that it did not recognize my "press 1" choice and then displayed "call failed" So after 1 attempt yesterday and 3-4 attempts today, I have nothing to show for it

    Non-existant customer service.

    Signed up for the Home Technican option - he came once and set up the TV and extra speakers, which stopped working after a couple of weeks. Called and texted over 20 times and never received a call back to help me troubleshoot. Called national Geek Squard phone number: first wait time was 45 minutes and was connected to sales, transferred with second wait time of one hour and was connected to marketing, transferred with third wait time of one hour and 30 minutes and was connected with someone who said they didn't have the technical background to help me and that I should contact Sonos. What a huge hassle and absolutely lousy "service" - really, no service at all. Terrible. What a scam!

    Very Disappointed

    I am building a new house and went to BB to get information on multiple items I wanted to install in the house. 2 TV's, Home Audio System, Mounts, Cables, etc.. The sales guy suggested an in home consultation. Not what I came to the store for but thought it may not be a bad idea to get another opinion on what I wanted to do. The rep showed up at the house on time (Oh there is something good) I told him what I was wanting to do and that I wanted to install everything myself if possible. I also told him I had a limited budget and did not need top of the line stuff. After 15 minutes he said he would email a proposal in a day or two. I received his proposal the next day for $9000+ which included a Universal RF Remote that would control everything, it added around $1500 to the cost with all of the programming and equipment that goes with it. I emailed back right away telling him I didn't think I needed the reomote because of the cost. It took another email from me to get him to respond after 6 days and when he did the proposal still included the remote and intallation that had been reduced. I asked for another proposal without the remote and after another 6 days and another email from me he replied saying he would look at it and I could also contact his partner. Several days went by without a reply so I contacted his partner who said he would take a look at what I wanted and get back to me. He never has. It has been over a month now and I stll don't know any more that I did the day I went to the store. It seems that if there is not a large installation fee included they loose interest. I would say if you don't have a budget and want everything installed for you this service MIGHT be OK. If you have a budget and want to install yourself DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME.

    Waste of Time

    I am in the process of finishing my basement. I went to BB and spoke to somebody there and they were very helpful. Gave me lots of ideas and options. They suggested I have the Geek Squad come out and really design something specific for my space. Since I get the $99 back when I buy, I think at least $500 worth of equip, which I'll do, I thought it sounded like a great idea. What a waste of time. (He really wasn't here too long.) He came in and asked what I wanted. I told him surround sound projection tv etc... Asked what my budget was. I told him I wanted something good but it didn't need to be top of the line. He then started typing on his laptop. Basically I got a spread sheet that listed top of the line equipt. ($1700 receiver, $3500 projector, etc...) Total over $13,000 for equiptment. I told him that was probably a lot more than I needed and he said it was just a starting point and I could work back from there. No information about the products. Why they are reccommened or alternatives. Where I could save money where I should send more. I will end up going back to the store talking with the person there who was very helpful. Obviously, expeirences will be different depending on who comes out to your house.

    Brutal Consultation

    This was such a waste of my time. This guy comes in, tells you everything you already know. Doesn't listen to requests, and then doesn't take any notes. Pretends to know what you want and starts recommendations based on your direct requests. Five days later, you get an order slip with a whole bunch of stuff he said you actually don't want and does not include anything you particularly wanted (e.g. plasma vs. LCD TV's). I am headed back to Best Buy on the Katy FWY in TX to get my $99 back. Geek squad did not pull through on this one and tarnished best buy's stronger retail brand. My consultant was Abe R. Avoid him at all costs.

    Don’t get me wrong…I am not one of those people that goes around writing negative reviews. This is my first! I don’t have anything against Best Buy or Geek Squad. I’ve had a good experience with both and will continue to do so. I’ve met a number of professional, knowledgeable salesman at Best Buy. I was quite impressed with their knowledge base and one of them suggested that I get a in-home consultation for my home theater audio system. Overall.... I thought that maybe this consultation might provide me with some advice that I wasn’t aware of and hopefully get a good recommended system for my large family room. When the gentleman showed up (as scheduled)…I showed him the area for the system and felt like he knew very little about any of the questions I asked him. He had no suggestions that I didn’t already know. He just kept looking down at his watch the entire time (as if he had somewhere better to be). I asked several questions but received generic responses (I was hoping to get some ideas). I felt like he didn’t want to be there. He eventually asked if I had any more questions? ...and I said no, and he said…he’d email me the quote for a new audio system (as he was leaving). He left 12 minutes after arrival. I realize that there are people who are very knowledgeable…but this didn’t seem to be one of them. This was a complete waste of money. I’ll still shop Best Buy… but would not recommend this consultation service to any one.

    Terrible Follow up

    BB's distribution is so poor I had 4 TV's delivered. The 1st was delivered to a previous address from 14 years ago (even though BB conducted an in-house consultation at my current home) They missed another delivery date. Finally delivered my TV two weeks after is was originally promised. I called the BB rep when they showed up the next day with another TV (I didn't take delivery) and then the very next day another TV was delivered (I accepted this one). Surely BB would catch their error....They didn't. Three weeks later I had to go to the magnolia store to report this and it was clear they had no idea. When I told my sales rep he walked over and whispered back and forth with the store operations manager for about 5 minutes. He then walked back to me and told me they would pick the extra TV up on Saturday, shook my hand and told me I was an outstanding citizen then walked away. I wasn't expecting anything however being told you are an outstanding citizen and walking away was insulting.

    We had someone come out for an in-home consult for home theater set up. Beforehand I had average knowledge of what was needed to set up surround sound with a Blu-ray player. Basically they gave me information that I already had without enlightening me on anything new. They tried to up-sell everything including insisting on a BB credit card among many others. Completely unnecessary unless you are a novice. Even then you can go to the store and they can give you the same information.

    Waist of my time

    I was very excited to reach Silver Premier level & qualify for a free in home consult. I wanted a few ideas on setting up a home theater in our new house using my existing equipment and possibly some upgrades if recommended. The consultant was on time and took about 20 minutes to look around, gave me a couple of recomendations and said he would put together a proposal to hook up and run speaker wires where they wouldn't show etc. He would email me an in depth proposal with parts SKU # and labor prices. One week later NOTHING went to the local BB and they couldn't find the proposal, finally the store manager was able to find a proposal tho install 3 speakers, nothing else. He said he would get with the installer and get my complete proposal, but another week has passed by, I'm extreemly disappionted in BB and the Geek Squad, just glad I didn't waste my $100 on this consult.

    My proposal was emailed 3 days after the Geek Squad consultant had promised (I am on a tight schedule since our contractor is ready to put the walls back up). When recieved, the proposal was simply a purchase order list - everything was an upsell from what we had discussed. And the consultant didn't leave the coupon. A complete waste of time. Better to do your research online and talk to in-store sales people.

    Best Decision Ever

    We used the home consultation when deciding on a Home theater system Even though I had done my homework studying TV's, DVD Players, Surround sound systems etc. And knew aproximately what I wanted, I was unsure of the installation possibility above our fireplace in our den. We already had speakers built in but the surround sound system was outdated years ago. I was amazed at the knowledge and professionalism. He came in and checked the fireplace for studs the speakers, the room set up, our viewing habits and expectations, and recommended the correct type systems, Brackets for the TV (tilt). Answered all my questions so I could make a decision. Wrote down everything and when I went to the store with his sheet the sales person went right to work. set up the installation and we love our system . Very Very happy with it. I think if I had done it myself I would have always had doubts if it was right, I know it is. Best Buy Home Consultaion is highly recommended!

    I can't even get anyone to answer the phone

    I had good service before, but now I can't even get anyone to answer the phone. I want in home service for my mother to hook up several new HD TVs....she doesn't do email, she wants to talk to someone on the phone as that is what she is used to...so she just keeps calling and calling and calling...the main operator answers and then connects to geek squad and no one ever answers from geek squad...

    Well Worth the Cost

    We knew we wanted a nice media room in our new house so we spent the $$$ to have a consultant come out to our house while it was still being built. This way he could see the location where the speakers would be pre-wired, etc. He asked lots of questions about the things we planned to watch and to our surprise even recommended a smaller TV than we were originally planning to buy. After taking inventory of the components we already had he emailed us a couple of lists of things to buy. We were undecided about wall mounting the TV so he provided a list of options with a wall mount and without. He also provided multiple choices for TVs and Blu-ray players. Shopping list in-hand we headed to the store and bought everything on his list. The best part came when the price he quoted for one item was lower than it should have been the folks at the store honored the lower price without question. We are extremely pleased with our consultation.

    Some Good Ideas

    My consultation was in regards to a front projector and home theater set up. The gentleman that came over was very professional and nice. I had a list of about 15 questions and he was able to answer them. He also provided some good suggestions and different ways on how my home theater could be set up, from simple (less expensive ways) to more expensive in-wall wiring. Unfortunately, even the less expensive way was too expensive for my taste. I will end up mounting the projector to the ceiling myself and mount the speakers on the walls myself as well. I will use a cable conduit to bring the wire up the wall and just paint over it. That will save me about $400. So besides installation being way too expensive in my opinion the actual consultation provided was very informative. And it was free since I will be buying the projector from Best Buy and I can put it against the purchase price.

    I bought the inhome consultation SKU# 7982481. Doug came out on 6-4-10. Promised a report that day or the next by email. Have not received the results. At this point not interested in Best Buy. How about my money back???
