Bought 3 of these to replace a very old smoke detectors that were built-in to our very old alarm system. Very easy to install & set-up (already had a Nest account). So far they are great. I like how they are both smoke & carbon monoxide detectors. I like how they are motion sensitive & can work as night lights. But best of all I like how they all work together & are connected to your smart phone app. Totally worth the price for feeling safe.

This smoke detector is modern, sleek, practical, and integrates quite seamlessly within our ecosystem of Nest home products. Only gripe is the price. $150 for a smoke/CO detector is quite hefty but the key feature to appreciate is to be alerted on my smartphone in the situation where I am not home. You won’t get that functionality with a regular standard smoke detector.

I love this sensor. It gives me a great peace of mind to know that I will be alerted if there is a problem when I'm not at home. We have now purchased several over time, and they connect to each other well. They don't give as many false alarms as my old detectors - in fact my cooking has only set them off once. They then gave me updates about how smokey it was, ha ha! I plan to continue to add more to my home until all the spaces are fully covered. Highly recommend.

Works great! Easy setup! Test mode is nice! Comes with a night light but doesn’t have much use because you gotta install 12 inches from ceiling to work right.

I lost two birds for Carbon monoxide and smoke buildup at home during winter months . Sensitive product , several times it proved its efficiency. Very easy to install and operate . Happy to have this item at home .

Very easy to setup. Has worked well so far. We really like the night light feature for the path lighting.

I love these things! They work flawlessly. The smoke detector is very accurate and I assume the CO2 part works great too (I hope I will never need to find out). The best feature for us is the motion sensing night light. It's not super bright, but just enough to light the stairway. They are very easy to figure out what is going on as well. Side note: I did a lot of research on how the CO2 part works from the celing. Apparently the Nest detector has some kind of high powered sensor and scanning sensor build in. It Apparently works well based on tests I read online.

Out of the box, quite easy to set up. The various lights let me know that the unit is still working. The night light is a great addition - I didn't even know I needed it.

Definitely pleased with purchase, will be adding more units to this system. Worth the Money to me personally for your peace of mind for the security of your family, pets, property, etc. on a 10 yr. investment it comes out to less than .85 cents a month. This unit is well built, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide, and it works well with the app so far.

Nest Protect is a piece of junk. I made a substantial investment to fit all of my rooms in my home with Nest Protect units and it has been a total nightmare. Nest Protect has constant false alarms and Google provides ZERO support for stopping false alarms. When a false alarm occurs, all you can do is temporarily stop the alarm. However, if you’re not home, the alarms will continue going off and you’ll lose the ability to disarm them remotely. Obviously, I had my spouse check to verify there was no smoke, but yet these alarms went off for hours constantly. When I finally got home, I removed it from the ceiling and checked online for support. All you get is “remove the alarm from sources of steam and clean the unit.” I cleaned the unit and put it back. One day later at midnight “BEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEP” sending my wife and I in a frenzy to turn the thing off. There’s a 15-30 second delay between the beeps starting the and app recognizing which unit is going off, which is long enough to scare your children and pets. Now, let’s say you’ve discovered a unit is defective. GOOD LUCK GETTING A WARRANTY REPLACEMENT! You can easily check the warranty time available but the forms to get a replacement DO NOT WORK and send you straight to an error 404. If you find a link to get a call or chat with Google, it says 1 minute wait. However Google employees must be on Interstellar time because I waited an hour before switching from chat to phone and then ANOTHER HOUR goes by and I’ve received nothing. I will never buy anything attached to the name GOOGLE again. They make absolute garbage products and provide zero support. I regret having purchased $1800 in nest protects. It’s supposed to provide you peace of mind, but instead you end up with a Gimmick of knowing where the false alarms are coming from. I wouldn’t be as upset if Google actually backed the products they make, but after owning nest thermostats that stopped working with zero google support during the IN WARRANTY period and now Nest Protects, I can happily guide you to BUY ANYTHING but these. Absolute trash. I’ll never buy another google product again. They care more about reading your emails and selling your information to third parties than they do about making good products and they care ZERO about backing their products because they’re always a moment away from discontinuing a product and taking your money, just like that.

Purchased multiple units. Easy setup with link to iPhones and each other. When smoke in Kitchen while cooking all alarms went off “emergency smoke in kitchen” etc and immediate notification on iPhones.

If you have any Google Nest stuff, I highly suggest replacing your smoke alarms with this. Not only does it detect smoke and carbon monoxide, it also detects noises such as glass breaking (it fully integrates with Nest Protect). My favorite feature, however, is the light because it detects motion and it works as a perfect hallway night light brightening automatically when you walk under it.

Previous to my purchase, I had installed two of these units about five years ago. Given all the software updates to Google home, Nest, etc since then you can come to worry that adding or integrating a new unit to an existing system may cause issues... Completely unwarranted on my part. New unit (on first floor) was installed 3 days prior to its first alert and unit in the attic notified me where the smoke was detected. That's the advantage of a system like this. Simplicity, reliability and easily actionable, informative alerts.

Nest Protect is one of the most comprehensive, of the smart smoke detectors I've ever purchased. Not only does it pick up several types of fires, as well as carbon monoxide, but it also does the best job at alerting you of the danger. It also works with a wide range of smart-home products. I've set my Philips Hue lights to turn on automatically when the Nest Protect goes off. Pretty cool!

I bought one of these last year and recently bought two more. I love the peace of mind to be able to check the status when I'm not home. Every so often, the alarms will auto test and my phone lets me know a few minutes prior. The alarms also sense light and when you turn off the lights, the ring will light up for a second to let you know it's working properly. It's reassuring seeing that light every night before going to sleep. I highly recommend these alarms.

This is my favorite smoke detector thus far I had a issue to were my normal one would go off every-time I would open my front door since switching to this on I haven’t had any issues

This purchase was to replace a very old smoke detector in my basement. It was super easy to sync with the other nest detector I have, which I have been very pleased with.

This is my 2nd one in 5 years. I like that it send me alerts to my phone fast. Batteries last about a year.
