I got the free One-Year Kaspersky Security Software from Best Buy Geek Squad; and, it didn't work right out of the box. Safe Money had some problems; and, issues with it; and, wouldn't load out of the box. The Geek Squad had to reload it over the internet as I was still at home for when they had done it on both of my computers. It seems to be working fine now. They need to fix what's in the box; or, make a better way of getting the needed software updates. Norton's Symantec gave me some problems with not catching a certain virus that destroyed my other computer; and, having system errors after it was attacked. Hopefully this won't happen with Kaspersky. So far - So Good!!!

I didn't know which one to go with the Pro Notebook or the Apple Notebook air ,,another customer was telling me ,,oh if it's for your 13 year old I'll go with the air because it's light and the pro is to much she don't need all of that BIG ,ok ,,
So I went with my first choice ,,what I went in to Best Buy to buy ,
The Apple Notebook Pro and to this day she loves the Notebook ,,
It is great for her writing ,,she loves writing books ,
So I do Recommend this Product to anyone & friends ,,also the Help ,,Service is the Best ,,,
I love shopping at Best Buy at Flatlands ,,Kings Plaza ,,

I got this for free bundled with my PC purchase.
It's a great product. Compared to the competition, Kaspersky usually always does a very thorough job scanning. It has plenty of advanced options available so if you want more or less protection you can set it up fairly easily.
Firewall, real time av, Web av, email av, others...
I use this in conjunction with malwarebytes and feel pretty solid.
Make sure to update and scan often, like daily.

This program stops viruses way before they can infect your computer. It scans everything you try to upload to your computer, especially from a thumb drive. Fantastic Product.

I have, over the years, gone through a couple of different antivirus/security programs. McAfee, Norton and now Kaspersky. I am torn because the switch from McAfee to Norton went off without a hitch but the move to Kaspersky was a bit of a nightmare. I can't really blame this on Kaspersky, though, because the troubles took place before installing that software, during the uninstalling of Norton process. Given what happened, which necessitated a reinstallation of the operating system, I would seriously need to reconsider if the switch is worthwhile.
My decision to switch was prompted by my seeing notice of a high risk virus present at every boot along with claims of it being blocked and isolated, but never removed. If it was such a high risk virus, I really wanted to see it removed. So when the yearly resubscibe time came around I chose to switch in hopes Kaspersky would remove the problem rather than simply containing it over and over again.
Good news is, since the switch I have never seen a notice about this virus again. Bad news is, I don't really know what happened to it. I don't know if the system reinstall removed and replaced the infected file. I don't know if Kaspersky found and corrected the issue once it was installed and simply never told me. I don't know if the virus is still there, contained or not.
This is why I am giving 4 stars rather than 5. I am concerned about a lack of feedback to me as the user. It may not be the most fair but the whole process has left me with a certain low level anxiety. If this was a new system, or if I had not been getting reports from Norton before the switch, my opinion may be much different.
Would I recommend this to a friend? Not blindly, but I would certainly discuss the issues with a friend and let them decide for themselves.

4 Light and solid, but not fully compatible

Testing AV software is a hobby of mine. Kaspersky has been consistently among the most appreciated AV products for the past 4-5 years; this edition, though, has some issues with Windows 8 and 8.1 that do not allow the customer to experience its protection fully, or without some tweaks. If you are using an HP Pavilion notebook, Mozilla Firefox, and Windows 8 or 8.1, the chances are that 1) the Kaspersky protected browser will not fully work due to incompatibilities with the HP hardware (and hence you won't be able to do online banking with a full protection), and 2) Mozilla Firefox currently has a conflict with the Kaspersky security certificates and is likely to block every secure connection ("https") that you open, including sites like Amazon, Google, etc. The solution is to tweak Mozilla to accept Kaspersky's certificate, and even that solution still will leave banking sites inaccessible, unless you open them through another browser.
In terms of detection rates, the program is solid; in terms of zero-day protection, unfortunately it isn't as good. It has a strong firewall that offers an 80% protection according to the rigorous Matousec leak tests (in comparison, Bitdefender gets 19%, Norton 9%, Webroot 23%, etc.). Independent AV labs certify Kaspersky very highly; on-hand malware tests done by a variety of enthusiasts (look at YouTube) do not seem to agree completely.
The product is light and works well; it is a pity that it shows incompatibilities with a number of hardware and software components.

REVIEW of: Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 Mac/Windows OS
[ PROS ]
- $49.99 value, included free-of-cost if you purchase a MAC/PC in-store.
- Easy Access to Customer Support
- Easy to use application
- Fast servers to download Antivirus updates
- Application is not resource heavy
- Application installed from CD-ROM in <4mins.
- Application installs from Internet download < 3mins.
- Clear plastic case is recylable
- User only needs activation code from the product sleeve which is found inside the case. Identical product can be downloaded and installed from Internet as long as user has a valid product key to activate application.
- Product can be renewed easily once application reaches expiration date.
- Affordable price if purchased from Internet or store.
- Trusted Internet security application
- Highly underrated Internet antivirus security
[ CONS ]
- No discount given or offered from Kaspersky regardless if product was included in any purchase.
- Limited Product Warrenty: Kaspersky nor Best Buy will not cover damage to your electronic devices unless the cause can be determined to be from the application itself.
- If renewing the application for a version that only allows 1 installation via CD-ROM that was included free-of-cost in any Best Buy MAC/PC purchase the application cannot be extended to 2 additional pc's. Rather it is advised to let that activation license expire, download the latest installation from Kaspersky.com, uninstall the previous application meant for 3 pc's, and activate that product. Unless you want/need only 1 installation then by all means simply renew the application and check for updates. OR simply renew the applications activation license of the version Best Buy gives you that is meant for 3 installations and check for updates after reactivation purchase is completed.

I originally got this product for my 11 year old's first computer (I've since added it to two other devices in the house). I really liked the parental controls it allows you to set. The only issue I have with it is the password control. I hadn't logged on in so long that it said my password had expired and that the only way to update it was to go through their support page. That involves going to their web page, finding the support section, filling out a form about what problems you are experiencing (which it won't let you leave blank despite simply needing to reset a password!), submitting that form, and then waiting for them to email you back. Once they email you back, you simply have to click on a link that takes you to a page that allows you to create a new password. Nothing that should make you not buy this product, but it's something that doesn't seem like it should be so annoying to do. There's gotta be a simpler way.

I am using Kaspersky Internet Security for 2 years and I had no issues. After my multiple bad experiences with Norton, I am glad I bought Kaspersky. I feel secure and very protected with my personal payment transactions.
