was trying to save up for a dolby atmos system but since this is just for a bedroom this soundbar is way more then what I needed. first thing I want to say is how nice the soundbar looks it really has that premium wood quality unlike the plastic tin looking soundbars that are out there. anyone saying that this doesn't have a kick in bass they may need to do a firmware update its most likely the sub would disconnect make it seem like your soundbar had no bass when it was really just disconnected from sub. I had issues out of the box but once I performed the update it stop giving me issues and loosing the Arc connection this literally shakes my walls. hope to add the surrounds 3 to get that full discrete 5.1. the simulated surround just doesn't do it for me. I recommend this bar but if you can wait for a few more months just wait for the new 48 bar Bly Klipsch it should have a 2.1 HDMI and HDR passthrough something this bar is missing.

Quality Sound in a Good Looking Package

Soundbars are sometimes the only option to improve the sound of a TV and in my living room, this is definitely the case. As much as I would love to put the same audio system I already have in a dedicated media room, my interior-design-minded wife would understandably veto it – and so we enter the world of the sound bar and paired sub woofer. This product from Klipsch comes in a large box but is very easy to unpack and fairly simple to set up. The bar itself is 4 feet long (hence "Bar 48"...as in inches) while the sub is also fairly substantial but tucks away neatly in a hidden corner of our living room, just off to the side of the sound bar. You can put it anywhere in the room and I think the range is around 30 feet. I replaced a much smaller sound bar (31 inches) with the Bar 48 and aesthetically, the new Klipsch looks far better. For a start, it is made to go under a big screen TV and I was probably pushing it a bit with a 31 inch sound bar under a 75-inch TV. The Klipsch fits the bill much better and also looks quite aggressive, with the unmasked Tractrix Horns at each end, yet still looks attractive in the overall layout of the room. I was glad the bar was not too thin. It seems to be the thing these days, as manufacturers "out thin" each other but I have a dedicated power outlet behind where the sound bar is installed and many that are too thin would not work in that spot, as you can see the outlet edges. Fortunately, the Klipsch falls into the sweet spot and covers this outlet completely. I also wonder if the sound does not suffer as you go thinner - a speaker still needs to meet a certain size for good sound so again, the Klipsch appears to strike a good balance between looks and sound. The sound bar comes with sticky pads you can put under it but I wall mounted mine with the two included brackets and my own wall anchors/screws. Klipsch thoughtfully supply a stencil you can line up on the wall and then use to mark your pilot/drill holes. The supplied power cord for the sound bar was a little long for me so I ended up swapping mine from the standard 6’ cord to a 1’ cord which worked better for my installation. For most people, especially if just placing on a surface, you would want the longer cable but for me, it goes back to the dedicated power outlet behind which had a small cutout for cord storage but not 6’ of power cord, plus HDMI, optical etc. Once it was all installed on the wall, cables connected and the sub was plugged in, I was happy to see that both sound bar and sub were already paired. It is then just a case of selecting the correct input and adjusting speaker settings on your TV (like turning them off as you don’t want sound from both sound bar and TV speakers at the same time.) I ended up having to use only optical at this point. The reason for this is that when I used HDMI, the CEC codes were locking up the sound bar so that when you turned it off, all appeared well but when you turned the TV back on, the sound bar would not come on and was not responsive via the remote or the on board power button. The only way to reset it in this state is to pull the power cable at the back of the sound bar and then plug in again. This would restore it back to working again but obviously doesn’t work for me at present. Klipsch assure me they are working on a firmware fix with my TV manufacturer which will hopefully be available soon. In the meantime, the optical connection gives me the same sound quality and I am only really missing being able to adjust the volume with the TV remote. Now to the sound. Watching standard TV channels (satellite receiver, set to Dolby Digital audio output), the sound is very clear and has a lot of detail. The 8” sub adds a considerable punch where needed although I found myself turning the bass down a little so as not to annoy my wife. Someone who likes a lot of bass might want to add a second sub (the sound bar has an output to wire a second sub which is a great feature) but I am satisfied with the supplied sub alone for my living room. I tested the sound bar with a Blu-ray disc and was happy with what I heard. Music was loud but detailed, the low frequency effects were handled well by the sub-woofer and dialog was very clear. The Bar 48 has a dedicated center channel speaker which definitely adds to the all-around quality of sound. Coming from a basic stereo sound bar, I definitely appreciated the additional channel. This means that the system can discretely process dialog to the center channel, rather than have it muddied or lost in the left and right channels. I have not boosted the volume too far in everyday use but just over the half-way point is plenty for comfortable listening in my living room. I will boost it up a click or two if I am working in my nearby kitchen but it does not distort or cause any audio issues and I can clearly hear all the dialog across the room (about 30 feet). I was easily able to connect my phone to the sound bar via Bluetooth and had no problem streaming music to it. The music sounded good (for compressed audio) but the additional bass from the sub was a welcome addition. This sound bar has another advantage which is that you can add optional wireless (except that each needs a power cable) surround sound speakers to make it 5.1 channel. There is a hidden compartment on the right side of the sound bar that will take a small transmitter that ships with the compatible Surround 3 speakers from Klipsch and then it is possible to pair the two surround speakers with the rest of the system. I did get this system with my sound bar but have reviewed it separately. Suffice to say, I was impressed with the 3.1 basic system but adding the two rear channels definitely added a noticeable level of immersion I enjoyed. You can toggle things like surround sound mode (simulated if you don’t have rear speakers) as well as dialog boost, if you can’t make out dialog among the other sounds. This can be done from the buttons on the top of the sound bar or the included, light-up remote which is a bit more convenient. You can also set whether you want to see the LEDs on the front and top of the sound bar as it has three options: bright, dim or off. That said, in my case where I have the LEDs set to always be “off”, I noticed that when you first turn on the TV and sound bar and it shows the volume level with lights, if you don’t change the volume from that setting, the lights stay on until you do. Just being on for a few seconds and then going off again would have been good but it’s not the end of the world. I don’t mind the LEDs but my wife does – they are a little bright for her, even on the dim setting. LEDs also show where the bass is set on the sub and there is a button on the remote to take it back to the mid-level point, in case it gets a bit heavy. Finally, the build of this sound bar and sub-woofer is to be commended. When most sound bars look and are plastic, the Bar 48 for the most part is made of wood and speaker grille cloth. It certainly looks the part as a reference audio device, which the branding on the bar and surround also states. All in all, this is a very nice looking sound bar with great features and impressive sound. I like how easy it was to install and other than the HDMI/ARC/CEC update that I am waiting on, it has been a perfect upgrade from an entry level sound bar.

Needed a good soundbar and subwoofer for our upstairs livingroom because we don’t have the room up there for big speakers and reciever. I knew I wanted a wireless subwoofer and I wanted to stick with the Klipsch brand because all of the speakers in my home theater downstairs are Klipsch. Boy was I glad I got this Bar 48! Sounds phenomenal! I also love the fact that I can add 2 more rear surrounds to it for 5.1 surround!

To me the Klipsch name is synonymous with quality audio sound. I have had a number of Klipsch speakers over the years and have always been impressed with the quality of the sound and the craftsmanship of the speakers. I currently have an Atmos setup with 7.2.4 and a 5.1 setup as well and I was curious to see how good the Klipsch Bar 48 would stack up. The Klipsch Bar 48 sound bar come in a package that looks like a giant hockey stick. Inside is the sound bar and the Subwoofer makes the bottom part of the “L” in the hockey stick. The neat thing about the Klipsch Bar 48 is it can be configured as a 3.1 one system for tight spaces or a 5.1 by adding the Klipsch Surround 3 wireless surround sound speakers. As a 3.1 set up, the Klipsch Bar 48 sounds very good. In the 48” sound bar is the L-C-R channel speakers and the sub adds the fullness to the sound. In the back of the sound bar you have an HDMI, Optical and Mini jack input and a subwoofer out RCA jack. The sound bar is covered in black speaker cloth that also mutes the volume LEDs on the front right side. Setup for the wireless Subwoofer was quick and easy, but the instructions are a series of pictures that would do better if there were better descriptions to back up the pictures. As for the sound, the Klipsch Bar 48 sounds much bigger than its physical size would lead you to believe. The sound was clear and full and in a smaller size room easily was more than enough. One area that seemed to lack slightly was the midrange, but this is no means a deal killer. The enclosed remote was clearly labeled and easy to use. You also get in the box an HDMI cable, wall mounting brackets and screws and template for mounting the brackets. When adding the Klipsch Surround 3 wireless surrounds to the sound bar makes a big difference and brings you into the movie. The Klipsch Bar 48 is perfect for those that don’t want the hassle of a dedicated home theater with an AVR and wired speakers or for smaller room applications.

Bar 48 and Surround 3 Be aware if you use Fire TV Unboxing – Klipsch Surround 3 You will receive the manuals, 2 speakers, 2 6ft DC power cords, 1 5Ghz transmitter, and 8 rubber feet for the bottom of the speaker. This is packaged well and efficiently. Unboxing – Klipsch Bar 48 and Subwoofer You will receive manuals, 1 soundbar (47 11/16in x 2 7/8 x 3 3/8in; 8.3 lbs), 1 subwoofer (11 7/8 x 16 1/8 x 16 1/8in; 15 lbs), 1 remote, 2 wall brackets with screws, 2 6ft DC power cords, 1 HDMI cable and 2 soundbar end caps (brown). There is also a template for installing the brackets on the wall. There is an optical cable in the picture but the manual states this does not come with the optical cable. This is very neatly packaged with the soundbar and subwoofer being in one package. Set up I did not mount the soundbar on the wall at this time. It is placed on top of a high dresser under the TV in a bedroom. I connected the HDMI ARC from the TV to the soundbar. Place the subwoofer and Surround 3 speakers in the desired location. Please note the provided power cords for the speakers are 6 feet long. So plan your speaker placement appropriately. As one of the images illustrates, you can connect the soundbar to HDMI (HDMI ARC allows for the usage of the TV remote to control the soundbar volume), optical, or analog (headphone jack). The setup was easy and the sub and surround speakers paired with the soundbar right away with no issues. You place the surround transmitter in the end of the surround speaker after removing the end cap. I did have some challenges with the remote I will discuss in a following section. The manual provides instruction to program other TV remotes to the soundbar. The fact that the sub and surround 3 speakers are wireless allows for a lot of flexibility in their placement. Sound and usage This combination sounds really great and is perfect for the bedroom I placed it in! I have this connected to an Insignia Fire TV. As stated in the manual, I disabled the TV speakers. I did not have to do anything special to use the TV remote for the soundbar. Everything just worked. The surround speakers turned on when the TV was turned on and I could control the volume. I went through the various setting to ensure I was finding the best experience for me. On top of the soundbar you have the power button, Bluetooth button and volume up and down. There are lights by the buttons to indicate the settings you have selected. These options are: SUR (virtual surround is on when lit), Dialog (enhances the center channel sound to emphasize speech when lit) and NIGHT (turns off the sub for night listening and has 3 setting for the light brightness). I used the sound system with TV (OTA), Netflix, Amazon Prime and VLC. I found the sub setting of +3 was the best for me. Using the virtual surround and Dialog disabled I found was the best overall setting. I do wish there was a way to adjust the surround 3 speaker volume as I thought it was a tad low. I also connected the sound system to my phone suing Bluetooth. It paired easily and worked as expected. Overall 5 stars on the sound quality! When the speakers are turned off, the blue pair light will blink for about 3 minutes (sub and surround speakers only). Remote You must use the remote for the sub volume, SUR, Dialog and Night settings. The TV remote controls the soundbar perfectly. So once I have the settings the way I want, I do not need the remote. However, I had some odd experiences and need to share them. It appears some soundbar remote commands triggered an undesirable response on the Insignia Fire TV. So here is a listing of the remote button and the corresponding action taken by the Fire TV: Surround Remote > Fire TV SUR > brings up the input screen and forces the input to be changed. SUB + > open the quick menu or option menu. It does not do this for Netflix though. VOL - > rewind 10 seconds for VLC, Prime and Netflix. MUTE > Pause the show for VLC, Prime and Netflix. This was extremely annoying! I believe this remote will spend almost all of its life in a drawer. In fact I used the remote to set up the sound system the way I like and removed the batteries. Conclusion Klipsch is one of the premier speaker manufacturers in the world. I expected a top quality sound and it delivers. The quality and construction is top notch. The sound is amazing for a reasonably sized room. I am not sure if this would be enough for a large room. The surround remote and Fire TV interaction nearly drove me crazy. If you do not use Fire TV, you do not care and it will be fine for you. You will enjoy the top quality sound from the sound system. The surround 3 speakers are a nice addition that completed the surround sound experience. The wireless speakers allow for flexible speaker placement. In summary I rate this 4 stars removing one star for the remote behavior.

My TCL Roku 55" Class 4K (2160P) Smart LED TV (55US57) has a fantastic picture but has poor audio, like with most budget HDTV’s, so a good soundbar is mandatory especially with movies and in my case, movies with the new DTS audio won’t even play from my media player (Generic Kodi Box). Vocals are hard to make out with lackluster soundtracks was something I just learned to get use to and after hearing incredible vivid sound from the Klipsch Bar 48 for the first time, can’t believe I waited so long before buying a decent soundbar. Kilspch a high end speaker company which quality shows as soon as you open the box and see the well built soundbar and subwoofer, a lot heaver then some other brands like that I’ve encountered. Setup was fairly easy even though the instructions could have been better, I did have a hard time finding the subwoofer button mainly because the diagram instructions does not match the actual unit. Once pairing the sub then you need set up your HDTV which varies depending on model but will mention issues I had, the HDMI-CEC found the soundbar in auto settings and completely controlled it with the Roku remote, but did not use the latest Dolby. This cause my over the air antenna programming sound to be out of sync: selecting Dolby D+, DT under ARCS solved this issue. Crisp clear dynamic audio is what you get once running, both highs and lows, speaking of lows the bass is very robust and is adjustable as well. Overall I would recommend this item as I’m a happy camper re-watching my favorite movies and shows as they are meant to be watch with good sound quality.

I bought an LG 65" C8 OLED earlier this year, and although the picture is incredible, the sound didn't really impress me, so I knew at some point I was going to have to upgrade. A friend of mine had owned some Klipsch equipment back in the day that he loved, so I jumped at the chance to review this soundbar. When unboxing the product, the quality is evident; the soundbar is quite a bit heavier than other soundbars I've seen, and the sub-woofer seems absolutely massive. It's clear that Klipsch refused to skimp on materials, including the addition of extra woodgrain endcaps for the soundbar (if you prefer brown instead of black). The box contains everything you need to connect the product to your TV (assuming your TV supports HDMI-ARC). There's even a template and brackets included if you want to mount the soundbar on the wall. The remote is rather unassuming, which I like, but it still allows you to control every function of the soundbar including dimming of the LEDs on the front, which I really like; I hate having superbright LEDs staring back at you from across the room. Setup took about 15 mins and I didn't even have to manually pair the subwoofer with the soundbar, it paired all by itself. Once everything was hooked up, I switched the sound from the internal speakers to HDMI-ARC, and was blown away by the sound. I was watching a race at the time, and the clarity and separation of the sounds, especially of the commentators, was easily evident. The bass from the sub-woofer was even more evident; it was as if my living room was at the track. After I managed to pull myself away from the race, I paired the soundbar with my phone to see how it handled music. Again, I wasn't disappointed. I played a few tracks from a few Queen, Boston, and a smattering of Def Leppard albums and was amazed at the results. Overall, I am completely satisfied with this soundbar. If you're looking for a quality-made product that will bring the sound of your TV out to meet you, then I'd recommend this soundbar.

Brought this soundbar 3 years ago and really liked it until last month. Now it sits unplugged. If I turn it on, it will play for 20 minutes and then it fades our and won't turn on. After investigating online I've found out that I'm not alone. There are multiple people with the same problem. Allegedly, the power supply is bad on quite a few units. Every person described the same problem I have. Klipsch had discontinued this model and it's evident why. I originally was going to buy a Vizio and that's what will replace this, so disappointed in the Klipsch brand.

Bought this soundbar to replace our Klipsch we bought in 2014 after buying a new 4K TV (old one didn’t have HDMI arc). We first bought an LG bar to go with our new LG TV but the sound (Definitely BASS) just wasn’t nearly as good as our old Klipsch. Returned LG and bought this one. Very happy with sound and look of the bar! I will admit, it is a step down if you’re coming from true surround sound (we did and took some getting used to). One note is the sound and bass will not be as powerful if using in a room with little acoustic barrier (hardwood floors, 12 foot ceiling, etc). Definitely recommend before buying an LG, Samsung, or other TV manufacturer soundbars!!! That’s if you like bass! Can’t buy a better one without spending at least $1k!

The sound is amazing and so is the build quality, though the only issue is the instructions gives you one quick line, then the smae line in 20 other languages no details. I also purchased the surround 3 speakers which work great once you know how to set them up, you actually have to adjust the volume individually on the sound bar....hold the surround button for 3 seconds, it'll set the volume for the left speaker, then press the surround button once and it'll switch to the right speaker so you can adjust its volume then just hold surround again for 3 seconds to finish. also be sure to do the firmware update from Klipsch incase you have sound issues from the surround 3 speakers (purchased separate). also f you change inputs on the tv if you are using ARC you will need to pair the speakers again, you only need to do that once, I checked this and switched back and forth between inputs to be sure. hope this helps some of you. oh P.S if you cant seem to pair the speakers then be sure to remove the pairing USB and then plug it right back in.

The Klipsch 3.1 was easy to set up on my Samsung television. Up and sounding pretty good in no time. For a soundbar in this price range, it can't be beat. Movies sound good, even Pandora music is loud enough with just the right amount of bass. Happy with this purchase. Not a home theatre by any means, but a substantial improvement over the television speakers.

As a big Klipsch fan , I can say I’m very happy with the 48 Bar . Sound bar and sub are a good match and if you would like to run a bigger sub , there’s a place to plug it right if you want more on the low end . If you are looking for a good sound with a small foot print this is a good choice , and yes , it can get very load : )

I received the Klipsch Bar 48 with wireless sub for Christmas and I must say it is a night and day difference from my Samsung 2.1 bar. As a former audio engineer I can say I was drawn to Klipsch because they use wood to make their cabinets and not plastic. The sound is very warm and the dialog is crisp and clear. The 8” sub is impressive. I habe a powered 12” Klipsch sub in my theatre room and the 8” with the bar 48 is impressive. It’s very punchy and clear even at high volume. My wife is not easily impressed and she even commented on the sound quality this system offers. She’s a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it type”. I read all the other reviews and the negatives and I’m sure they are better soundbar systems out there and cost way more money and offer way mor features but for me this system works great. I’m old school when it comes to sound quality. I would highly recommend this system.

Out of the box this was very easy to install and set up. I used the HDMI with an ARC active TV. Did not try the optical as one should never use that unless necessary. Out of the box this was easy to work with. Comes with easy to install wall brackets (some soundbars charge extra for these). Simply install the HDMI cable to the ARC input on your TV. No onscreen display but once the few adjustments are done there is no need for the remote at all since the on/off and volume are controlled via ARC by your TV remote or in my case a Roku Streaming Stick remote to TV. I do keep the Klipsch soundbar remote handy for any occasional tweaks but the soundbar has these on board too. Sub Pairs easy and shuts off by itself seconds after soundbar is turned off. This soundbar rivals anything in it's price range especially at almost half price at $349.00. There is incredible volume when needed with no distortion. Sounded like a movie theater showing a block buster science fiction movie but also has the refinement to play music. Has a nice transparent sound as well and the great sound you would expect from a Klipsch reference series speaker. The speech clarification works stellar. Best in it's class. Great for talk shows. I have seen some reviews of earlier versions have problems but this latest model I have a great so far. Highly recommended. Nice removable side panels for ebony or walnut side panels are a nice touch.

The sound quality is superb. NO comparison to other brands. Optical connection gets lost once in awhile and you have to power cycle it. That has really been the only issue. Cannot really say if it is a cable problem or device problem. Updating firmware has been somewhat of a hit or miss. First time went smooth, 2nd time, not so much. After discussion with technical support I guess it took. LOL

Nice and easy to set up. Strong full sound in a very big room with 18’ ceilings. Had a Motherboard/subwoofer connection issue with the first one I bought and customer service was super helpful getting me switched out with another. Night and day difference. It’s pricey, but the style and sound match the price. I’d buy it again.

Awesome sound bar, the wireless subwoofer has a lot off bass!
