I bought in store and would have thought my kids would like it so much, plus the game gives you new building instruction as you progress in the game so I can help my kids out when they need help. Also my kids don't just sit and play theyour have to get up and move pieces around and figure things out. ITS PRETTY COOL☆☆☆☆☆

I had been wanting to play this game for a while and when the price dropped, I went ahead and purchased it. I really love it and have had hours of fun gaming playing it and adding new characters and kits.

If not maybe skip this one.
Let's get this out of the way. Unless you are a collector of vintage Video Game cabinets, this is the most expensive video game you will ever buy.
This base set will allow you to play all of the story levels, and give you access to three of the sandbox worlds (DC Comics, Middle Earth, and the Lego Movie), but you will be constantly encountering puzzles and areas you can't access unless you buy more figures/sets/levels. And even if you do decide to pony up the cash and buy more, as of this writing you can't even 100% the base game until the fifth wave of figures comes out and you buy the Midway Level Pack ($29.99).
There is a lot of game to play, but no more than say Fallout, or the Witcher 3, heck for the same money as the base set you could buy 2 or three of the older non-playset video games from Lego and get the same play value.
So why the heck am I giving it 4 stars? Cause I do love Lego. This is a cash sink, if the thought of spending hundreds of dollars on one game seems insane to you, you're right stay away! But I was lost the second they said I could own my own Portal Legos, and Doctor Who, and the Ghostbusters, and... You get the idea.
So think long and hard before jumping into this game, unless you suffer the same love as I, in which case pull up a chair and open your wallet, I'll be here with you for the ride. :-)

What a great game! I've been a fan of all the LEGO videogames, from Star Wars in 2006 to Jurassic World in 2015...I own them all. I thought this would be more of the same, but it's not...it's even better! LEGO really hit the mark with this one.
I never quite understood the popularity of Skylanders...and while INFINITY figures looked great, the gameplay did not grab my attention. What got me interested in Dimensions is that they have actual voiceovers of the real actors playing some of these characters. The LEGO movie, Back To The Future and Ghostbusters sets are what sold me.
Dimensions is sort of like the previous LEGO games, and I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but it's different in a way that they've put a lot more time, thought and money into this than the others it seems. I didn't even really think I'd start collecting these guys, but here I am with almost every character now. It's a lot of fun building your LEGO guy outside of the game and then placing them on the included platform to see your creation come to life in the game.
While it can be a bit pricey when you start collecting all these characters, there's so many constant sales going on by every single retailer, that the prices are actually quite reasonable afterwards.
P.S. I really think the writing is great! Had me laughing out loud! Very happy with my purchase. Can't wait for the Ghostbusters sets to be released :)

Forget Skylanders, Lego just gets it done and is able to pull off amazing quality and gameplay that is true to each story and character for each subset, like Portal, the Simpsons, etc. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of content available to you. The only issue I have is the price of the packs, but they go on sale frequently.

Lego dimensions is a another great Lego game, this time with a few new tricks up their sleeve. We all know by now how much fun the Lego games are for all ages. If you don't know, go pick one up immediately. Now lego has combined the tangible fun of their lego kits with the amazing in-game experience and it is a blast! At first I thought it my be distracting to stop mid game and build the kits, but I have to say it is such a fresh fun new addition and one of the best parts. The other factor that makes this game a must buy is the world-hopping fun. Combining characters and elements of some of my favorite films like Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Lord of the rings and the DC universe is SO much fun! It literally feels like one of those classic Scooby Doo episodes where batman shows up and they go on an adventure.(P.S. you can, make that happen.) The figures are cool too and the vehicles are surprisingly nice for the small amount of parts included.

When I first heard about this game several months ago, I was super excited being both a LEGO fan and gamer. Like all the other LEGO games, the gameplay and graphics are great. But with the add-on packs, it takes this game to another "Dimension!" So much fun mixing all these ideas all together and being able to have Gandalf drive the Batmobile!! The building of the Portal itself is great as is the mini Batmobile build. The 3 minifigures that come with this are nothing special - Batman, Gandalf & WildStyle can all be found in other sets if you are only looking to add new LEGO to your collection. Well worth the price (especially if you have a Gamers Club membership).

This is so much more fun than Skylanders and Disney's Infinity.
Sure, it's pretty much the same model of getting users to buy multiple figures/sets, but it's just so much more fun because it's LEGO and you build stuff too.
The story is creative. The gameplay is just like all the other LEGO games out there. It's hard enough to keep adults engaged into playing, but still simple for the elementary aged kids to still play and not get frustrated. I can't stand playing Skylanders and Infinity with my kids because it's TOO easy.
Plus, if the game ever dies, LEGO figures are so much more fun to still play with or display than Infinity or Skylander figures.

The game was the usual Lego video game fun with the immersive experience of moving the characters on the to pad.
The only problem I had/have with the game was the need to buy certain other expansion packs (I knew going in - they'd be necessary) They're going to make it possible to "rent" those extra characters by purchasing them in game with your studs. Just holding out for the price drops on the others.
Level packs make the game easily expandable (however, at a pretty steep price considering $30 only gets you a level and a new character that will add another hour to 2 of gameplay - whereas $30 is a fairly new other game purchase with 40+ hours of play time.

The graphics are astonishing on the PS4 and the gameplay is smooth and fun as ever! This game grabs your imagination and runs wild with it in many different realized worlds, quests and characters from popular games, movies and shows.
LEGO Dimensions is built to be different in that it is built to evolve as is (meaning you won't need a new game and new characters every year or so). The game REQUIRES an active internet connection to update and play.

I have a six and twelve year old, and we all have so much fun with this game. Building the characters and then playing in the different worlds. We already love all of the Lego video games and Lego stepped it up with this game. Warning: This will get pricey because you want tot collect all of the sets to be able to access all of the in game fun.

I was so impressed with this. Loved the fact that it brings building Legos and videogames together in one awesome package. The only thing I did not like is that you have to buy so many add ons. They can be expensive but if you buy them at discount you will have a blast! From the wizard of Oz to the Simpsons you will have an awesome time! Great family game!

As a huge fan of the Lego video games, and Legos in general, I was excited to hear about Lego's entry into the toys to life genre. They didn't disappoint - right out of the box, there are tons of options and the game does a great job of taking you through many of the different worlds. This, however, is a double-edged sword. There are bound to be worlds you couldn't care less about (for me it's the Ninjago and Chima themes) but for the most part, all levels are enjoyable whether you're familiar with the licensed property or not. The benefit is that you get to play in worlds that haven't been done before in previous Lego games. Yes, you may have already played previous DC or LOTR Lego games, but Ghostbusters, Doctor Who, Back to the Future (to name a few) are brand new to the Lego video game world and it is a ton of fun to see characters you love interact with one another. Of course, there are already tons of add-ons which can quickly add up to quite a hefty sum, with more coming in subsequent phases. So what starts as a $100 game (already pretty pricey) can quickly escalate. A lot of in-game worlds and collectibles can only be accessed with special characters and vehicles (sold separately of course!) While it would have been nice to see a lower starting price point, so far the game has been worth the money.

Bought this for my boys and got a great deal around Black Friday. My boys enjoyed building the set then playing the game. You get 3 characters with this starter set which is nice because my boys have enough to play without having to buy additional sets.

My son and I have played a few Lego games and he loves Legos in general. He also never got into Disney Infinity which runs along the same lines so I didn't know what to expect with this game. He absolutely loves it and so do I.
In typical Lego fashion everything works great and is planned out to the last detail. Word of warning the Batmobile that comes with the game has to be assembled after you start playing as there are no directions in the box to assemble it beforehand. Otherwise, the gameplay is just like all the other games in the Lego series, but there always seem to be random camera angles or jumps that make it easy to get stuck and I doubt my 7 year old would get through the levels himself since the puzzles require some thinking and use of the base to redirect characters through the maps. A good buy in my book.

This game is funny and fun, you cpuld spend all day just building the models and gateway and playing it. And I did! co op in it is great, and solving puzzles by moving things around on the gateway pad is a nice inclusion for the game.

Lego Dimensions is at its heart yet another Traveler's Tales Lego game. If you don't like them, you're unlikely to like this one either. That said, this game does add some interesting game mechanics using the portal to actually move the toys around during gameplay. That and the brilliant mixing of IP make this the freshest, most fun Lego game I've played, and I've played almost all of them since the original Lego Star Wars.
Yes, it's expensive to get everything for this game...but I'm sure all those different licenses going into a single game were likewise expensive, and you get real Legos to play with in the deal! Just make sure you have Gamer Club Unlocked and go to town buying them right here at Best Buy. I know that sounds like a paid marketing spiel, but I really mean it.

I bought this during the 49.99 time and it is so worth it. The lego is great and the play is fun. The communication between the game and the lego is very interesting, plan to buy some extensions soon!
