After reviewing several of the Logitech keyboards I decided to splurge and get the K830 for a multi-media keyboard. I chose this over the others due the back lighting, and the sturdy feeling construction compared to the flimsy feel of the $30-50 models. This keyboard works great and has made me want to use it for more devices than I intended to. Lets start with the construction. Unlike some of the keyboards this one does not bend and feels sturdy in your hands. The keys on the keyboard are soft, but easily press-able. There is an on/off sliding switch on the top right hand side that you can easily tell when it is off or on. Overall the construction is great but does lend itself to collecting fingerprints. I've had luck wiping these off with a slightly damp hand towel which makes the device look like new again. The back lighting on this is great. It is just bright enough the see the individual keys (as seen in the photo) but not enough to blind you when trying to pause a movie in a dark room. The lights stay on for 2-3 seconds and then shut off. The touch pad on this keyboard is extremely smooth and supports two-finger multi-touch. (pinch to zoom, two finger scrolling, etc). I was worried about this using it with non-Windows OSes (Raspbian and Tizen); however, all except for a few apps that don't seem to support multi-touch it works great. Lastly, while it has a rechargeable battery the battery seems to last for quite some time as I have used it for over 14 hours and haven't charged it besides when I got it. The battery seems like it might be user-replaceable (but not by design) given that it has screws on the bottom of the keyboard; however, is definitely not recommended. Overall a great keyboard that I have started using with my work laptop along with the Smart TV and media Computer I bought it for. I am glad I chose this over the cheaper models. tl;dr: Pros: sturdy construction, nice back lighting, great battery life. Cons: Non user-replaceable rechargeable battery, finger print collector.

I wanted a wireless keyboard with a mouse pad, but its very heavy to holding and it goes dark after 5 secondsand no way to modify it so that it remains illuminated without turning off every 5 seconds.

If you want a trackpad, slim keys, long battery life, and premium feel, look no further. PROS: Battery life, build quality, user experience CONS: The surface (keys and trackpad) will start to look shiny with use. Onlookers may think it's finger oils or other liquids. Not enough of a con to deduct a star. The eventual shine isn't super annoying. This keyboard/trackpad is exactly what I needed it for (To control my PC when I'm in my living room.)

Last years Superbowl gift to myself was the 65" LG OLED C8. Best TV on the market, at that time for my money... It's now a year later and I'm now using it's full capabilities. Multiple streaming apps, Voice controlled Harmony remote, 4K Player (LG UBK90), 7.2 Surround Sound via Pioneer Receiver/ Klipsch Dolby Atmos Speakers. Simply awesome! So... What could be make this system even better? With the addition of the Logitech's K830 wireless Media Keyboard, I am now in total control. It was a super simple hook-up. Just plug in the doogle and you're done! Good range. Mouse pad works just like it should. Simple to use and navigate when searching or using thr smart TV's web functions. With the magic remotes voice feature or this keyboards direct command inputs, I'm finally able to quickly search, find, adjust and control my entertainment system. It came charged, has an auto-sleep mode, the backlit keys are a must in my drakened family room, well made and looks top end. The price was higher than some of the others wireless keyboards I researched, but you get what you pay for, and the K830 did not disappoint. It has bluetooth abilities but did not work on my LG TV. Might be a way, but the doogle connect works flawlessly. Would highly recommend.

It is lighted, rechargeable, has a track pad, and works off either a supplied dongle or, if the device you are using supports it, Bluetooth. I don't know of a single other keyboard that checks all those boxes.

    Good Media Keyboard

    Posted .

A few reviewers commented on the "aluminum" construction. I'm here to tell you this keyboard is 100% plastic, albeit a slightly textured plastic. It still looks nice, feels firm and study enough, lightweight, and fit and finish is good. Feels a bit too lightweight for my liking but I suppose that's an okay attribute for something designed to be passed around a living room. Nice simple design but full of function. The function keys up top double as F1-F12 and another pictured function (play/pause, media player, web browser, the usual stuff) similar to a laptop. By default you have to hold the Fn key for these to function as F1-F12, but that can be set to vice versa in the Logitech software. I was disappointed in the lack of a scroll wheel, which I feel would be a useful feature on a keyboard of this type, especially if placed on the left side near the secondary left-click button. I discovered in the manual that you can use two fingers on the touchpad and drag up/down to simulate a scroll wheel. That works decent enough, and I'm glad that function was there as I was going to return it if it lacked scrolling functionality. Other reviewers also complained about not being able to service the battery, one even suggesting that the keyboard was glued shut. That is NOT the case. There are four screws visible, and four that are hidden underneath the rubber pads. Remove these eight screws and ta-da, you can replace the battery or possibly repair the charging connector if it ever breaks. I haven't opened it yet to determine what type of battery is in there, but I suspect it's a small Li-Po battery since it uses a +5V micro USB to charge. The backlight works well, it's a pretty soft light by default, I find myself turning the brightness up frequently. Unfortunately it reverts back to the default brightness when the keyboard is switched off or if it's not used for a period of time. The touchpad works great, the click buttons have a nice feel with good feedback and are easy to use. My old keyboard had a numeric keypad which I might miss. The Logitech is a bit larger and though it does not have the numeric keypad, it trades it for the touchpad which allows me to ditch the mouse I've had on my coffee table. Overall, for the price, I'm impressed with this and think it's a great deal. Not a perfect keyboard, but pretty much checks all the boxes of things I need in a keyboard. My last keyboard lasted 6-7 years before it started flaking out; if I get that amount of time out of this one I will be a happy camper. My main concern would be the charging port breaking (I have kids) which some others have experienced. [Photo is comparing old keyboard versus new]

    Good Living Room Keyboard

Pro's - Lighted, easy to use, responsive touchpad, sensitivity easily adjusted though driver software, long battery life, good size, USB recharge, good range (12ft +). Con's - A little heavy and no numeric keypad. The weight is probably a function of the size of the rechargeable battery so I won't complain. I charge it once a month to be sure it stays powered and can run my HTPC in the living room. It's not run out of battery yet so I can;t comment on how long it lasts but that's the gaming PC for the family so it gets use. A numeric keypad would be nice and make access to function keys easier. Really, that's all being a bit picky because it works great.

Perfect wireless keyboard for all uses

From home I typically am using my laptop for several hours a day. From reading and replying to email, school work, web browser, etc... there is plenty of need to use a computer. For years I just used the small screen and trackpad on the laptop to do my work at home which is different than the widescreen monitor and fully keyboard i use in my office. I was looking for a great wireless keyboard that offered a back light to use at night and stumbled across this one. At first I was taken back by the price but after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. It only took one day of use before I realized this was one of the best purchases I have made. The keyboard works great, lets me see at night, and is wireless with rechargeable battery internal. This keyboard make everything much easier when I work at home and use it daily. The battery life has been fantastic and I don't have any real complaints. Here are the minor annoyances but definitely not show stoppers. The built in track pad would be better if it was close to the base of the keyboard, the button are not where you would think if you are not looking. The Function button light up but not which F they are so you have to count in the dark. I also wish there was a way to tilt the keyboard slightly but truthfully it isn't as big of a deal as I first thought. Lastly, the delete key is in a odd location so logging into Windows is strange at first. All in all this is a great keyboard and I highly recommend. If you are on the fence I can safely say you will be happy with this purchase.

Great bluetooth setup for TV or HTPC.

I got this to use with my HTPC. It's a bit pricey compared to other options out there including other Logitech options. I wanted to get keyboard/trackpad with bluetooth so I didn't have to use the wireless dongle route some other sets use. For reference I had a Logitech K400 prior to this. That was a pretty great keyboard to use for TV/HTPC use but the wireless could be finicky and the typing experience wasn't that great. The track texture was a bit eh as well being a textured matte material. This set is noticeably better quality. The trackpad has a nicer smoother feel. The keys are way better for typing but I still wouldn't go recommending for everyday keyboard use. They keys have more a laptop feel to them. The backlight is quite useful in the dark. It has an extra left mouse button on the top left corner of the keyboard that helps when using the trackpad. The battery life is quite great so far. I haven't charged it since I got it about a month and some change ago but I don't use the keyboard much as I mentioned it's more for HTPC use. The only downside is it is heavier than the K400 but not to the point that it's a deal breaker. So far the bluetooth has been great. I haven't tested distance but with the K400 I used to have issues unless the keyboard had unobstructed line of sight to the receiver. I haven't encountered this issue yet using bluetooth. Also, I had to install the Logitech software to be able to use the function keys as regular function keys in Windows 10. If you don't then they by default act like shortcut keys for things. This can be a pro or con depending on your usage. Overall it's a great upgrade over the K400 but you do pay for it. I had a $10 reward and it was on sale so I think I got it for around $35. At that price it's a no brainer. At the $60+ point it becomes a bit more of a hard sale if you're using for something like I do.

A wonderful keyboard with a touch pad to work as a mouse. This combination in one Keyboard is well built, rechargeable, and a huge upgrade to using the built in TV app keypads. It makes it worth using the built in browser. The only app I have found that does not utilize the keyboard is YouTube. The list price on this was a bit expensive at $100, however it was suddenly available as a close out for $40. I traded in an extra wired keyboard for 15% off and it was well worth the final cost.

Some have complained about keys. The lighting itself is perfect and can be ajusted. I could see to type with no light othwr than from the destop monitor. It would be nice if you had an option to keep the lights on for a longer period as im getting a bit slow in my typing now a days. You can tap the spacebar and they will light up again. The MAIN featurein my opinion of best value is that its rechargable. Years of eating through batteries and buying expensive rechargable ones broke the bank on mice. I knew this having bright lights would really do it. But you ca charge it via USB cable. I bought it for my smart tv which is in a dark den. But i love it so much Im using it foe my desktop pc mostly and can easily move it to the tv. The usbe cord is a lil short but it does come with an extender. It comes with a usb logitech unifying receiver so u can pair it with similar logitech mice etc that have the orange symbol (up to 6 devices I believe) sure saves on usb port space. Its not really heavy in my opinon. I like that it has a lil weight to it. Feels sturdy and well built. Really cant find anything bad to say about it! I havent tried it yet but Im hope it will work with just usb on an old pc with no bluetooth. I will try and add a picture later if I can edit and update more as I play around with it. :) But Love it so far!

I very much like the keyboard, the keys aren't awkward to push. It's very light and portable, i just take it around the room with me wherever i need it to be. The backlit keyboard is great in a dark room, the brightness can be toggled easily. Trackpad is very easy and perfect sensitivity. OUTSANDING BATTERY LIFE. I've only charged it once in the 2 months i've owned it. Definitely get a keyboard with a rechargable battery.

I was looking for a small wireless keyboard to use in my living room where I have a mini PC connected to my large LED TV, this keyboard is large enough to perform well and is back lit. Small & thin enough to keep out or in a draw. Touch pad has a good feel but needs some getting use to.. Rechargeable with good interval between charging and it has that Logitech quality.

This keyboard works well with our HP 2 in 1 laptop. It's not a performance keyboard, but I do use it in my computer programming class to type code. It's small enough to travel with and the touch pad works pretty well. Two levels of back lighting for night time or low light levels. Wouldn't use it for gaming, but for every day use it's reliable. The battery also lasts for about five days.
