Great purchase on discount at BestBuy. Form factor and audio quality are amazing - given the integration for Teams does not need extremely dynamic range or volume. It's capable to have low volume HD audio streaming when not being used for productivity. From an audio usage, I actually spend more time streaming than using it for productivity. Buttons and features are well integrated and set-up and compatibility (Lenovo Carbon X1, Microsoft Modern Web Cam and 4k LG monitor) was awesome. The USBC cable that wraps under the device makes cable management elegant and intuitive. The fabric quality is amazing but the other plastic elements could stand a bit better quality at this price point (even discounted)

I returned after spending hours trying to figure out how a docking station could possibly be designed that cant do the primary function - charge a laptop. Kidding right? Nope. I knew it didn’t have bluetooth from the start, but having to keep my laptop separatley plugged in when a audio dock brick is sitting next to it cluttering everything…. No thanks. Even if this design was intentional, the oroginal price is too much.

Works really well, but limited in purpose/value

This dock is really good at what it sets out to do. And the more I used it, the more it grew on me. Its biggest drawback is its limited use case and the fact that it might not fit into your workflow depending on your current setup (without additional investments beyond the dock itself). I originally thought of using it more as a travel accessory to make video calls on the go, but it’s too bulky for travel - I could make do with the dock, but it has a large power brick. Especially when the only tangible benefit is better audio. This is intended for those who work primarily in Teams (it works with Google Meet and Zoom as a microphone/speaker) in a home office with an external monitor and webcam. And if you don’t plan on plugging a monitor into the dock, it’s definitely not worth it. The other caveat is that while it delivers power to your laptop (eliminating the need of a separate power cable to your computer) it may not power fully featured gaming laptops (like mine) - at least during GPU intensive tasks. IN THE BOX You get the speaker dock as well as a large charging brick. The USB-C cable is permanently attached to the dock. At first, I thought there was something weird going on with the base (there’s a piece of rubber) but it’s intended to wrap the excess cord inside. I thought this was a nice addition to help keep your desk as clutter free as possible. SETUP Setup is about as easy as it gets. You plug the power cord into the dock, then plug the USB-C cable into your laptop’s USB-C port. Here, I do have to confess some ignorance, as my laptop has two USB-C ports, one that has power delivery and the other that doesn’t. The dock operated as a speaker/microphone when plugged into either port but it only delivered power to my laptop when plugged into the one designated for power. I mention this because 1) your laptop needs a USB-C port, and 2) it seemingly must be able to accept power. I’m guessing most laptops made within the past few years qualify, but something to keep in mind if you have an older laptop. When I plugged it in (I’m using Windows 11) I got a notification that it was setting up the device, and then a window popped up walking me through the dock’s features. That was it. I noticed off the bat that my ASUS Rog gaming laptop was charging (I was concerned the dock wouldn’t give it enough power). But I was unable to tell the difference between power delivery from the dock and power from the ASUS charger. AUDIO QUALITY Once I was set up, I started listening to music. I was pretty impressed with the sound. It’s plenty loud for an office or home office. It provides rich bass and clarity. Is the loudest or best speaker? Probably not, but for 99% of what people need - including me, for work - this is more than enough in that department. For video calls, I didn’t really get any “wow, you sound really great” feedback from other participants, but that’s expected. People typically only tell me when they can’t hear me or I sound terrible. When asked how I sound, I got, “yeah, you sound good.” I didn’t walk around the room to test how far away I could be while talking, I only talk when in front of my meeting, but you should have some wiggle room there. MY IMPRESSIONS AND USE CASE I do have a dedicated work desktop. But I use my ASUS laptop for more GPU heavy tasks like editing videos/audio. I basically have several workstations between my office and home. I have a 27 inch monitor that I sometimes plug into my laptop, but sometimes I don’t because I don’t want to hassle with plugging everything in. This dock alleviates some of those problems. I can now plug my monitor into it, my webcam, and USB receiver for my mouse (my keyboard is Bluetooth). Here I see the benefit but also the drawbacks. It has as many display out ports as USB ports. One of those is USB-C and I confess not to have a USB-C monitor or know its capabilities. So I use the HDMI out. I’m left with a USB-C port and a normal USB port. One of those is reserved for my webcam. Leaving me with one. For most people this should be enough, but I would like to see more. (your laptop should have a few USB ports to use as well, but that's more cables to plug in, eliminating one of the benefits of a dock). I now find myself using my monitor more because I only have to plug in the USB-C cable on my desk into my laptop. I don’t have to fiddle with my laptop’s power brick. The drawback is that the dock only gives you half of your virtual meeting setup. Obviously there’s no webcam, so you need that. And webcam’s have built in microphones, so what’s the point of the dock? You can then point to the buttons on the top of the dock. There are 5. There’s a dedicated Teams button, play/pause button, volume up and down and a microphone mute button. The Teams button brings up Teams in a moment’s notice. So if you don’t use Teams, this button is rendered useless. Our office uses Teams, but not for video chat. It’s not much use for me in that department. I do however, like having large play/pause buttons and volume buttons as I am listening to music most of the time. I also like having the microphone mute button so readily available, and how it lights up red when muted. This is the easiest way to quickly mute and unmute yourself during a call. CONCLUSION All this leads me back to the question of who is this device for and is it worth it? As with everything, it’s a loaded question as everyone’s needs are different. This dock doesn’t give you anything your laptop doesn’t provide. Sure, it has a microphone and a louder speaker but is it worth it? If you have a desktop computer, probably not, you could get a good microphone and speakers for less than the cost of this. This is meant for those who take their laptops with them and like to work at a monitor in their workspace. I love the dock aspect and frankly, wish I would have gotten a dock before, but that doesn’t mean this audio dock is the best for you. The Teams integration button is a little much for me - again, I’m not a heavy user of Teams audio/video calls. But I like the convenient buttons that I use frequently on top of the speaker that sits right above my keyboard for easy access. I find myself adjusting volume and muting/unmuting frequently. Even if it had more USB ports, I’d say it’s a tough recommendation but to all the heavy Teams users. Don’t get me wrong, it works really well, but I’m not sure it’s the best value proposition. If you are looking for a dock, want to minimize cables and speaker quality matters to you, and you can look past the cost, I’d say it’s definitely worth it.

A Solid Solution For Virtual Meetings

Me and my wife spends a lot of time in virtual meetings on a daily basis because of this am always searching for tools and tech that can helps us on our work front and improve the quality of our communications. So when I got a chance to try this Microsoft Audio Dock, I was very much happy and excited. And now after using it for some time with all our virtual meetings, I can say one thing this has exceeded all my expectations. The matte black design finish is sleek and stylish, with its compact size of the dock it doesn't take up too much space on my office desk. With various ports - including HDMI 2.0 and Usb-A and 2 Usb-C are conveniently located on the back side of the dock making it easy to connect to different devices and displays and looks great too without any wire clutter because of the placement of ports. And the fact that it is certified to work with Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet means that I can use it for all of my virtual communication needs without getting into any compatibility issues. But what really makes this Microsoft Audio Dock different is the built-in speaker phone. As someone who frequently participates in WFH meetings, I have lot of issues in the past with trying to position my laptop's built-in microphone or the external mic just right so that everyone on the call can hear me. With this speaker phone on this Dock, that's no longer an issue. The audio quality is clear and crisp, with it's speakerphone everyone in the room can participate in the call without having to be near to my laptop. The audio quality of this dock is awesome i am very much impressed with the sound output from this Microsoft Audio Dock. Whether am listening to music or participating in a wfh virtual meetings, the sound is always clear, whenever I need to adjust the sound or other settings, I can do so easily using the controls on the top of the dock and you can visually see whether you are in mute or not which is the best feature now I no longer gets into trouble whenever I forget to mute and my child talks or other noises peeps into my work meetings On a whole am for sure highly recommend this Microsoft Audio Dock to anyone who spends a lot of time in virtual calls. It is a powerful, reliable, and stylish addition to any home office setup, and trust me it is a essential tool for my virtual workday and everone must have it Whether you're using Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet, the Microsoft Audio Dock is the perfect solution for all of your virtual communication needs.

    Versatile dock with good audio

This is a very well-built dock with very good audio. Connection is via USB-C only (no Bluetooth), which can also deliver up to 60W of power (so you can ditch the power adapter for your laptop). Audio has rich baritone, although high frequencies are a bit subdued, and it's only mono. Speech is clear, whether on a call, in a conference, or listening to a podcast. When connecting it to my wife's LG Gram laptop, the sound oddly didn't immediately default to the dock -- I had to go into the system settings under Sound and change the output device to the Audio Dock. The mic was fine, but it wasn't as good as the Snowball Ice mic -- speech sounded more muffled using the Audio Dock. But it's certainly better than using the built-in mic on the laptop. Port options are decent. Two USB-C 3.1 gen 2 ports, one of which supports video output, and both of which can supply up to 7.5W power. One USB-A 3.1 gen 2 port. One full-sized HDMI port. 1-2 more USB ports would've been welcome, but this should be more than adequate for the vast majority of users. My wife and I don't use Microsoft Teams, so we weren't able to test the integration. Overall, it's a nice little package. If Microsoft Teams integration isn't crucial, you might do better by getting a high quality Bluetooth speaker and a USB hub, but if you want something that combines the two, this would be a good choice.

The Microsoft Audio dock is so much better than I thought; I cannot do without it now. First, it looks great; it is small yet sounds awesome. If you like many other people are working from home and use either Microsoft Teams or any other messaging, meeting or streaming apps including video conferencing and want good quality sound, this audio doc is very useful. Even having a friend or family video call this is a perfect addition. It is a docking station as well as speaker with a microphone. I tested out the speaker with different accounts including Microsoft Teams and it worked great every time. I plugged in my Microsoft Surface laptop to the Audio Dock and right away it started charging it and just changed the settings on my laptop to use the Microsoft Audio speaker both the microphone and speaker and that is all I had to do to start using it. I have another screen that uses an HDMI input and once I plugged it in, it worked right away. And If I had another screen with an USB C input then I could have two screens simultaneously. I also have a Bluetooth mouse that I connected to my laptop and if I want to connect a keyboard and mouse using Bluetooth I can do so since the dock has an open USB A input. I can also charge my cell phone on the dock station so that is a plus. The audio dock is easy to take it with me, it fits in my backpack with my laptop for easy to take it home or to the office or anywhere in between. Quality of sound is much better than my laptop speakers, it has better bass and rich sound. I can listen to music, videos or anything on my laptop with the speaker and it sound great. And the microphone works great from anywhere in the room, people on the other side of the video calls did say they could hear me nice and clear. I like the Mute button that is right on the speaker, when the mic muted, the button is red and when it is on it is white, so there is no confusion. It is certified for Microsoft Teams so I can bring the Teams app to the foreground of the PC by pressing the Teams button. The button can be used to view missed calls, access voicemails and join meetings. Problems with the device can come up when the company does not have the right configuration so if you are using it with your company using their communication then contact your IT so they can help you configure it correctly and once it is done then it will work as intended. Overall it is a great addition to my Microsoft Surface, better sound, ready for Microsoft Teams, expand up to two more monitors and best of all it looks cool.

    Perfect For Audio/Video Teleconferencing

My significant other works from home exclusively and has several video meetings per day, so when an opportunity to try this Microsoft audio dock presented itself, we jumped at the opportunity. The box arrived and included the speaker and power adapter. The power adapter is rated at 90W and provides power pass through to your laptop via the attached USB-C cable. Most docks use about 15W for itself, so the charge being passed through will actually be somewhat less. The power being passed through will be sufficient to power most non-gaming laptops with ease. The primary PC it is being used with is a Dell Latitude business laptop. I also tested it with my gaming ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, and I was able to use the laptop at less than maximum processing power, which was to be expected because the proprietary ASUS power adapter is 120W. Setting it up with the Dell laptop was as simple as plugging it in and connecting the cables and adapters. Everything was plug and play and thankfully an app is not necessary. A Microsoft app (Microsoft Accessory Center) is available for device configuration, but thankfully it is optional. This is especially important as most people using employer furnished laptops don't have administrator rights to add software applications. This audio dock falls right in the middle of hubs that have more than enough expansion ports and hubs that have not quite enough. Fortunately we were able to connect all of her peripherals with room to spare. Two video outputs are available (1 HDMI and 1 USB-C) for dual monitor use. We are only using the HDMI port on the audio dock because she prefers the aspect ratio of the laptop HDMI out for her primary monitor. Sound quality, as can be expected, is quite good. The size of the speaker generates full range sound that far exceeds what the thin speakers in a laptop can produce. There is especially an improvement in the clarity of vocals. I immediately noticed that people speaking during her meetings were much clearer due to the woofer being able to accurately reproduce low and midrange frequencies. Music and movies likewise sound much better than sound from the laptop internal speakers. This MS device is Teams branded and has a Teams button but will work with any teleconferencing software. If your laptop can run the application then it will likely work. We tested it with Teams and WebEx and it worked flawlessly. The buttons are big enough to easily find and press. I think most people will frequently use the microphone mute and volume buttons and find them useful. The two internal microphones work very well. However there is not much of an improvement over what we were used to from her iPhone 14 Pro. This is not a knock against the dock mics, more that the iPhone 14 pro has a nice internal mic in its own right. Another benefit of this device is that while I would not label it as compact, it is small enough to take while traveling. This would be especially useful if you need to travel for work and performance is a priority while traveling. Overall I enthusiastically recommend this Microsoft audio dock. If you work from home and have a lot of online meetings, it is a perfect accessory.

I have been mostly working from home for the last couple of years and used many headsets, both wired and bluetooth but no matter how comfortable they are, if you have to use them for many hours per day, they will still hurt or get hot depending on your environment. I’ve tried the built-in laptop mic and speakers, or a combination of laptop/monitor speakers and webcam microphone but there is always a sound quality issue or echo. I had the opportunity to test the Microsoft - Audio Dock speaker phone that is certified for Microsoft Teams which is our primary conferencing App. It works flawlessly with Teams but works quite well with Zoom which is what many of our vendors use. Due to computer security hardening restrictions, I cannot install any apps on my work laptop, but I didn’t have to install anything for this speaker/dock to work. It was truly plug-n-play. The sound quality coming out of the speaker is great, with much more mid-range and bass fullness for both voice conversations and music listening in-between meetings. The microphone noise-cancelling is quite good as well. I have the speaker only inches away from my rather clicky keyboard and folks on the other end of the meeting can’t hear my typing at all. Also, there is no echo either, so I don’t have to mute myself as often. The only neutral feedback I got from other meeting participants was that I sounded a bit more distant or like speaking thru an older phone or almost sounding like speaking through a tube, kind of hard to describe. Regardless, not bad at all or anywhere to the point of not sounding clear. Now this is not just an audio speakerphone, it is also a decent USB-C docking station that works quite well. I have two 27” Samsung LED monitors but since they’re a few years old, they don’t have an USB-C video input. I had a USB-C to HDMI adapter that I use for my Android phone when I travel to connect it to TVs in hotel rooms. That worked just as well connected to this Microsoft Audio Dock to feed my 2nd monitor while the first monitor connected directly via HDMI. The controls on top of the speaker are large, illuminated and very intuitive. The Teams button will be flashing when your meeting starts, so you can join using that button. The Mute button lights up Red when you’re muted, so you’ll always know even if your Teams window on your screen is hidden behind other windows. The only improvements I would make to this speaker/docking station would be adding additional USB-A and USB-C ports for more peripheral connections and enhancing the microphone sound quality. All-in-all, another fine, very well built versatile product by Microsoft that I now use on a daily basis.

I have been using this for about a week for several zoom and teams meetings. TL;DR: Good for home desk, office or small conference room use, but the speaker is too soft for large conference rooms, and the background noise cancellation does not work effectively for larger rooms. The dock uses a fixed, 3-foot USB-C connection to your PC, and has two USB-C ports and one HDMI port. One of the USB-C ports supports display output via Alt-DP support, so you can use this dock as a hub for your multi-monitor setup, as long as your PC supports it. The dock has a separate, proprietary DC-in jack with a separate brick power supply and a 6 foot cord. The top of the dock has separate play/pause, volume up/down, mic mute and teams button. All of the buttons worked flawlessly with my Windows 10 PC, but the teams button requires a separate helper application that I cannot install on my work PC due to policy restrictions. The mic mute and volume up/down buttons worked with both MS Teams and Zoom. Based on feedback from the meeting participants, the mic picked up voices in the room that were sitting around an 8-foot conference table, but the voices that were furthest away from the speaker were quiet, especially when there was external noise from outside. The sound output from the dock is clear and great for meetings and light music playback, but this is certainly not audiophile-quality sound output for filling a room. Overall, this is a perfect audio dock for a large private office or small team conference room. YMMV if you want to use this as a large conference room setup.

A real game changer for Microsoft & Teams

I have definitely gone through my fair share of speakers and other audio devices as a "work-from-anywhere" small business owner. The Microsoft Audio Dock is a real game changer, especially for those of us who use both Macs and PCs. Though it is relatively heavy, the Microsoft Audio Dock is still portable enough to toss in to a backpack or book bag (probably not a briefcase) and allows users to have an AWESOME duplexing speakerphone that works seamlessly with Microsoft Teams - both on my MacBook Pro M1 Max and my Dell laptop. The real magic of this device is two-fold. First, it has two USB-C ports and an HDMI port which allows me to charge various gadgets on-the-go and the flexibility to be able to easily plug in an external monitor with the HDMI port. The device itself cannot fully charge my MacBook from 0 to 100% without being plugged in, but it keeps my other devices charged and connected. Secondly, the sound is phenomenal - both on the user's end and based on feedback from clients I've had Teams meetings with. Very little (if any) echoing and the sound is good enough to listen to music for non-work time. I could not be more impressed with this audio dock and the potential it has. It definitely makes my life easier and I would highly recommend it to anyone - especially road warriors - for a backup battery for phones, tablets, etc., along with the ability to have Teams with the click of one button. Very, very impressed.

I got this because I am on Microsoft Teams Conference calls all day long. It is great because it is basically a small speaker phone with dock capabilities via USB-C and USB-A. That coupled with the HDMI port and you can manage a dual monitor setup. Setup on my Macbook Pro was easy, plug in and its recognized. I did have to go into my mac settings for audio and select it the first time. Once done, it recognizes it if move around and plug back in. Monitor use was simple and plug and play as well. I like this because I can put it on my desk, plug in when I’m doing calls and quickly disconnect when I want or need to. I can also walk around my bonus room/office and still be heard much better than using the computer alone. While not too large and bulky, it could be used while traveling or on those days where you need to run to the office and grab a smaller conference room without a speakerphone. It would not work well for a large conference rooms. While you can travel with it, it does have a charging brick with the unit that does add to the bulk/weight. Audio quality is excellent, everyone says I sounded great. On one meeting that was being recorded, I purposely positioned myself several different times 6-8 feet away from the unit while I was speaking. I think listened to the recording, I could tell that I had moved away from the unit but not near as bad as the laptop. The microphone arrays in the unit were able to make my voice consistent as I moved about the room. Microsoft Teams integration works well, if you press the Teams button on the unit, Teams application comes to the forefront. This is helpful if your multi-tasking while on a Teams call and need to pop back to the app to chat with someone else. The mute button is also helpful, you clearly see it’s red so there’s no more wondering quickly if your mute when unexpectedly asked to speak. The power in this is great, it has enough power to fully charge my Macbook Pro while I am using it. I would highly recommend it, if you do a lot of remote work and like the idea of having an actual speakerphone/monitor Dock, this is a great addition.

I requested this item specifically to be able to increase the volume when there is audio on my computer specifically the many Teams meetings I attend for work. Sometimes several people are talking in a conference room (I'm remote) and I don't hear all the conversations. For that specific item on my Windows desktop and my Mac this worked well. On a Teams meeting without the Audio Dock I had the volume on the Mac turned all the way up. After installing the Audio Dock the volume was so loud I had to turn the volume to almost the lowest setting. The fact that I locate the speaker closer to me helps. Setup was easy after I searched for information. When you open the box it seems like you would just plug into the electric outlet and the computer and it would auto connect and start working. I guess I'm getting lazy because I want to plug in devices and then have them "automagically" work. You do have to access the Sound function on either a Mac or Windows machine and tell it to use the Audio Dock. I have added instructions (at least what I did) for types of computers. FYI - The instructions don't specifically say that it works with Mac OS Ventrua 3.12 (my OS) but it does work for me.

While the sound is great, the case for home use is relatively low. The biggest pro is that it acts as a dock. The increasing ports, charging your Suface, and acting as a speaker is what truly elevates this accessory. For $129 open box it was an absolute steal. Defi utely buy on sale. But if buying at MSRP I would hold out.

I’m sure it would work well with more modern devices but it is not output at 4K 60 resolution on surface book devices. The surface book I have is the most recent one however I am still shocked to see that advertise itself as compatible a surface but does not actually work in the capacity it’s designed for.

Worked as intended. Purchased on a sale so it was worth every penny.

I don't even know where to start. Maybe my copy is bad. I bought to test for work as my employer is big into teams and we might have purchased a bunch of these for our work-from-home staff. If you want my summary now: TL;DR it's junk. Avoid. If you want the story read-on: For the price I'd expect a-m-a-z-i-n-g sound and it is rather flat. Not even stereo. For something that's an expensive speaker it should be stellar and it isn't even mediocre. As a teams device, there is a dedicated mute button and dedicated teams button. These work great if you dedicate both the mic and speakers within Teams. But I couldn't really use these because when I set up the device to be the microphone in teams, the audio GOT EVEN WORSE. Became more muddled and tin. And so if you don't dedicate the mic and speaker in teams to this device then the buttons don't work. That's just how it is. So as a speaker: One Star. It sounds OK, muddled, slightly better than the HP Bang & O Speakers on the laptop. But not stereo and actually worse than a sound bar that is 20% of the price. As a Mic: Zero Stars. When I set up this device as the mic the speaker quality degraded 50%. Unacceptable. As a Teams Device: Zero Stars. I couldn't really use the dedicated buttons unless you dedicate both speaker and mic in teams. And I couldn't. So the buttons are just wasted. As a dock: 0 stars. when it worked the first 3-4 weeks it was good but cut-out a few times. Then the final week the dock just randomly disconnected all my devices and monitors. Overall: 0.33 stars. Drivers: This is the kicker. MS doesn't provide a download page. You can get something from the MS store which offers some control over the unit. However my employer (who asked me to try this device) also blocks the MS store. So there is literally no way for me to see if a firmware update would fix this. Final Thoughts: I've had this 4 weeks. I tried. And now the device just up and died. I am driving monitors through this and at the end of teams call both monitors go black... the dock itself is failing. I've disconnected it. I'm done.

It's good, but limited range of uses.

As other reviews state, it works well for its intended use. It would easily be 5 stars if it had a wider range of use. I have been using it for a few weeks now. Overall, I am impressed with this product and would give it a 4 out of 5 star rating. First, the design of the Audio Dock is sleek and modern. It looks great on my desk and doesn't take up too much space. The construction feels solid and durable, which gives me confidence that it will last for a long time. The sound quality of the Audio Dock is good. It produces clear and crisp audio, and I have not noticed any distortion even at high volumes. The bass is also surprisingly robust for such a small device. Setting up the Audio Dock was very easy. I simply plugged it into my computer's USB port and it was ready to go. It also automatically connects to my devices via Bluetooth, which is very convenient. The only downside to the Microsoft Audio Dock is that it doesn't have a lot of connectivity options. It only has one USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack, so it may not be suitable for everyone's needs. Additionally, I have noticed that the Bluetooth connection can sometimes be a bit finicky and may require a few tries to connect. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the Microsoft Audio Dock. It produces great sound and has a sleek design, making it a great addition to my workspace. While it may not have as many connectivity options as some other audio devices, it still provides a good value to the office space.

Nice little speaker and speaker phone. Music actually sounds really good with deep base. Also works as a usb hub which is a plus. I haven't used it for Teams yet.
