Loved by our son

Bought this for PC to be used by our 9 year old son. He is (like all his classmates) hooked on Minecraft. We had problems with this on our laptop and had to uninstall and reinstall a couple times. Our computer had recommended requirements, but just at the minimum. We found customer service to be slow to respond and had to write a couple times on one occasion to get a response. We also found that there is a lot of virus and malware vulnerability from associated sites (skins and mods) so you need to be extra careful.

Hopefully this clears up some confusion parents may have. So I purchased a download card from Best buy, all it is, is a card with a code. You take this card, scratch off to reveal your code. On the Mojang site, the maker of the game, you enter the number there to download the actual game. I could've also paid with a credit card at their website, but this allowed me to get a few best buy points and use up a gift card I had sitting around. Once you download the application, you have to setup a name and register it with an email address. Once you do this, you can always re-download later to a different PC or Mac without having to buy it again or enter in the code in the card. You can toss the card. If you had purchased the iPad version of this game, the world you've setup there won't be in your desktop version. The feature that the desktop version has is that it allows you to play on Minecraft servers with others, (friends and strangers). Whereas the iPad version, you can only play with others on the same wifi network.
This is about all I know about this game. It seems to spur creativity with my kids as the design and build things. To me, the game looks very pixelated, sort of like playing breakout from the 1980's!

Digital Legos

I purchased this game for my son to play on PC. The best way to describe Minecraft is digital Legos. The player has the freedom to do whatever they can think of in the Minecraft world. This is a great game for kids to unlock their imagination. The great thing is it is a cheaper investment compared to buying Lego sets.

My two kids have begged for Minecraft and this was easy to install and allows them to play on different computers (but not against one another since they are using the same license). Delivered as promised. It would be good if it had a built in timer to shut down the game so that we don't nag our kids to stop playing.

Good clean fun for your family - this game is highly additive. Loads of creative thinking can be involved. Great game for the family if you like gaming. Zombies and such might scare really young folk but otherwise it's good clean fun!

If Minecraft had existed when I was a kid, I for sure would have played it.
I think of it, as an educational tool for my children. Not only do they learn building techniques, but also survival skills that apply in the real world, not to mention creativity. I do have to limit the time they play it, because they love it so much. My daughters have even created a monetary system in one of their worlds. No problems using the card and downloading the software. Minecraft rules!!

My grand kids are thoroughly enjoying teaching me about it and showing me all the things they can do and make in it. Its fun watching them being so involved and seeing their imaginations take over as they play - mine too for that matter. It gives us some common ground to communicate upon between them and myself. I honestly think this is the best game I've ever purchased, for the PC and the Xbox 360 as well.

Minecraft is a fantastic game for both children wanting to have fun and for adults with a knack for building and design. I use it on my MacBook Pro, and the game runs absolutely fine with no problems whatsoever. It’s a great game, and the “one time payment” system for the account makes it a great buy.

This was for the PC. Not sure why it's $26.95 and the xbox games are $19.99. Besides that- my kids and husband love this game! It is well worth the money and it's more than just a game. They learn different minerals, creativity, and they play so well together. I'd also recommend Terreria- Same concept- little bit if a different game

Minecraft is a deceptively simple game. The premise is easy: You're in a world made of blocks, decide what you want to do with it. If you're a creative type who enjoys legos, you'll love it. If you like to explore vast worlds, you'll be engaged, too.

The card was purchased with a BB gift card I received for buying washer and dryer, and a phone. So essentially it was free. Purchased the card, went home and bought the PC version of Minecraft. Easy breezy. The card is the exact same price as the game, so no monies leftover/required to spend.

After often watching over my kids' shoulders and wondering how such basic (and familiar '80s CGA) graphics could be so captivating, I decided to join in and make it a family event.
There is a bit of a learning curve, but for the value and the simplicity, this is a great game to play together, creatively or otherwise!

One day maybe my kids will grow out of the Minecraft craze but today is not that day. This is one of my seven year old daughter's favorite things to play on the computer and she would play it for hours if she could. I do wish there were servers that were monitored better or more suited for younger kids, but until that happens we just have someone play with her.
