Customers are satisfied with the Vertuo Pop+ Coffee and Espresso Maker by Breville for its coffee quality, ease of use, and compact size. They appreciate the variety of flavors and the velvety smooth espresso shots. The machine's sleek design and fast heating time are also praised. Elegant and Foolproof Espresso/Cappucino!

The Breville Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe automatic expresso brewer is a worthwhile addition to even the most sophisticated kitchens. It is a very attractive unit, elegantly styled in matte black and gold accents. The device takes the new Vertuo capsule to effortlessly create superb classic espresso or delicious cappuccino and lattes.
Nespresso is part of Nestle Group, a Swiss firm which was founded in 1866 and is the largest public food company in the world. Nespresso was created in 1975 by Eric Favre who invented the sealed Nespresso pod system for brewing espresso. This avoids the problem of grinding an individual portion of beans and the cleanup after each cup. A consumer machine was first sold in 1986, then in 1989 Nespresso introduced their Club to market the pods. Nespresso began to focus on selling pods rather than coffee machines by licensing the equipment technology to appliance manufacturers including Krups, Philips, DeLonghi and Breville. The pods are hermetically sealed, food-grade-lacquered aluminum capsules to preserve coffee freshness. The original pods are cylindrical with flat top and a curved base. In 2014 the larger Vertuo pod was introduced. This has a flat top and a semi-globular base. The system uses Centrifusion technology to inject water at high pressure (19 bars) into the perimeter of the capsule top causing the coffee to spin at up to 7,000 rpm to extract maximum flavor. The brewing machine uses a bar code on the capsule to optimally set time, temperature, rotation speed and water flow rate for each coffee type.
Breville was founded in Sydney, Australia in 1932. It began as an electronics manufacturer then sold that unit in 1955 and focused on small appliances exclusively. Today it produces a premium array of counter-top ovens, coffee machines, grinders, juicers, cookers, food processors, blenders, toasters, griddles, mixers and microwaves (among others!) Breville’s stated goal is to create products which deliver innovation based upon consumer insights, empowering their ability to create more impressive results in home kitchens, more easily than they thought possible. The Breville Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ is their latest offering.

When you unbox the Breville Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe Espresso Machine you should be very impressed by the elegant design and the quality of construction. It is a beautiful combination of matte black surfaces, accented by gold on the locking ring, the Nespresso label and the drip tray. It is quite compact, significantly smaller than my Keurig. (See my photo of the two side-by-side.) The water reservoir is located on the left side which minimizes depth on your counter and makes refilling it easier. After brewing, the pod is ejected into an internal waste container which is easily emptied from the side. The drip tray can be positioned at two levels or removed entirely for larger mugs. There is just a single button on top since all brewing settings are controlled by the bar code on each pod. Simplicity and elegance!
To start using the Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe, you simply fill the water reservoir and press the brew button three times (without a pod in place.) This will initiate a rinse cycle for about seven minutes and the machine is now ready for brewing.
Next, open the top, drop a pod in place, lock the top and press the brew button.
The water will be rapidly heated (about 30 seconds) and then injected into the pod at very high pressure (19 bars – about 275 psi) while the pod is rotated at up to 7,000 rpm. This will extract all of the flavor from the pod and the brewed coffee/espresso is poured into your mug. A beautiful dark brew will be topped by a tall, perfect crema (See my photo of my first brew.) The taste is superb and each subsequent cup will be delivered as an exact match thanks to the sophisticated automatic settings for time, temperature, water flow set by the bar code on the pod. Total time for each brew is about 90 seconds.
Now, the best part – making a latte or cappuccino. Just add some milk or half & half to a cup and heat it in a microwave for 30-40 seconds. Pour half of the heated dairy into a mug, then select a pod of your favorite coffee type and brew it into that mug. Aerate the remaining heated milk with a whisk and pour it onto the top of the brew – you have just saved $5 compared to the same drink at Starbucks!
Lots of easy alternative drinks can be created. You can make a mocha by just substituting chocolate milk for the milk or half & half. Or use egg nog for a holiday drink, bits of peppermint, shaved chocolate, etc., etc.
The brew produced from each pod is quite strong – great if you like authentic espresso – but it also gives you the opportunity to split the brew and create two medium cappuccinos from one pod.
One tip – the best espresso drinks are served hot, so preheat your cups or mug with hot water or by putting them in a microwave oven with a bit of water for 20 seconds.
Nespresso has its own extensive collection of Vertuo coffees and has supplied one dozen pods in various sizes and types. Nespresso’s business model is to license the technology for the machines to premier appliance manufacturers to create a market for its pods, then sell pods through its Nespresso Club system which has both retail locations and an efficient online presence.
However, Nestle, the parent of Nespresso, also owns the rights to sell Starbucks coffee at retail locations. It has created Vertuo pods for all of the most popular Starbucks coffees. (See my photo.) This makes access to a nice variety of pods as close as your nearest grocery store.
But keep in mind the old computer saying: GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out)! The quality and taste of the coffee you use will be the biggest determinant in the quality of your coffee drinks. If you are not happy with the taste of your coffee or espresso, try another type of beans or experiment with various roasts until you find one that suits your taste. The problem of bad tasting coffee/espresso will almost certainly be traced to the beans, not the fault of this fine machine!
In setting up the Breville Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe I just followed the simple quick start guide. But Nespresso has a great app which facilitates ordering pods and simple maintenance tasks (such as descaling) by connecting the machine to the internet. This process was quite easy and it also gives access to detailed how-to videos as well as keeping the machine current with periodic software updates.
Routine maintenance? A quick rinse of the drip tray and some light hand-washing of the body of the machine are all that is required to keep it looking like new.
How good is this Nespresso machine? I have owned several top quality automatic espresso machines including a classic Saeco Magic and a recent Philips 1200. The Breville Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe Nespresso produces a brew easily the equal to those fine machines but with a huge advantage in compact size, ease of use and it is unmatched in effortless clean up. Plus, the system ensures that each brew will be produced very quickly and exactly match the last.
When you add up the superb aesthetics, the delicious taste of the coffee and espresso produced and the fine design and technology features of this appliance, the Breville Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe has certainly earned a full five stars and my strong recommendation.

High Quality Tasting Coffee!

This is honestly some of the best tasting quality coffee I’ve enjoyed in a long time.
It’s virtually ready to use out of the because the first time setup is super fast. You can unpack it, give the water basin a quick clean and then start. You have to run a clean cycle (3 button presses to the power button) for the first time use. It takes a few mins, but after that you’re ready to brew!
The brewing process is super easy. Press the power button to turn on the machine and let it get warm. Open the machine, put a pod in, close/lock it, press power button to brew and in 1 minute you have perfectly brewed and hot coffee. The taste is exquisite and you really don’t need creamer. I’m able to drink it straight and I can taste the complexity and nodes of flavors.
I think the pods are a good size and it’s nice that Nespresso offers 3 sizes: XL (12 oz.), normal (7.7 oz.) and gran Lugo (4.07 oz.). My only ding is that the 10 pods come in a sleeve when you purchase and it’s $12.50 a sleeve. You’re not only going to buy 1, so expect to pay $50+. I’ve read some machines you can top off your coffee, but so far I haven’t discovered if this can. It’d be cool if Nespresso can design pods and keep in mind an option to top off my cup with 3oz without making it diluted tasting.
This nespresso machine is very modern and sleek looking. It has a little more weight to it than I expected, but it’s very sturdy. I love the black matte finish with gold accents. It adds an element of sophistication to my kitchen. My only ding on design is how the cup sits under the machine. I think it’s this particular model. My cups are normal size and it protrudes out a little where the coffee pours into the cup. So many of my normal coffee cups don’t fit nicely on the stand.
Pros:
Minimal cleanup
Fast
One cup
On the go
Modern design
App capable
Machine can do coffee or espresso
High quality
Cons:
Pricey
Not being able to top off
Some cups don’t fit perfectly under the machine
Overall:
No brainer at this amazing price. I highly recommend this Nespresso machine. You have an opportunity to drink some do the best quality of coffee at a fantastic price.

We have enjoyed Nespresso coffee for many years at home and now we wanted to bring it to our small business so the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe by Breville was the best choice, and we are enjoying it.
First, it arrived fast and since it was well packaged it arrived intact, on the other hand it did not include the 12 sample coffees that is clearly advertised, I have capsules so i was able to test it anyway. Once out of its box, it feels well-made and looks elegant and modern, the Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe is also compact so it fits well at our small area at the office. I can also see it fit in a kitchen with limited space. The matte black finish looks modern, clean and the gold trim makes it look elegant, and if this color does not go with your decor, there are 8 colors to choose from so there will be one that compliments your space.
I like how easy it is to use; it only has one button to operate so anyone can use it, and I am not worried it will break easily. We also like how easy it is to clean and maintain. Even with its compact size it still delivers different cup sizes, from espresso to alto a total of 5 different sizes and since the capsules barcode lets our Vertuo know the size, it will make the correct size without pushing any other buttons.
This Vertuo heats up in 30 seconds, so it is fast, especially since it is at the office when we are probably in a rush in the morning and if anyone forgets to turn it off, it will do so by itself after two minutes.
I like that I can connect this Nespresso via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to update the Nespresso with updates, I have not connected it but it is nice that is there to keep it updated so it works well every time.
Something to know, mugs will fit fine but the taller glass from Nespresso will not fit to drip the coffee on.
Overall, we like how compact and how easy to use is our new Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe by Breville and it delivers great tasting coffee, and best of all it looks great. I did not like that it was missing the samples, but it has been working well.

This Nespresso machine is one the simplest capsule coffee machine to use. There’s literally only one button to do all you need to make good coffee. The machine feels solid and premium. The gold and black color combination gives an elegant impression, the kind of personal coffee machine you would find in a suite room at a classy European hotel. The design is quite attractive, and it does not take much of countertop space.
The machine connects through wifi and to your smartphone via an app. There’s a separate app for you to order Nespresso Vertuo capsules. The machine is capable to produce espresso to lungo, and even cold brew. The machine automatically recognizes the capsule that you use. It is important to note that the machine is designed to take Nespresso Vertuo capsules, not just any kind of capsules. Capsules come in different sizes and each size is meant to produce specific kind of drink. So, if you want a cold brew drink, you need to get the cold brew capsule, not espresso capsule. You have the ability to program water volume level for the capsule you use, however.
If you’re into Nespresso coffee capsules, this is a great machine to make Nespresso coffees: very simple to operate and has an attractive design.

The Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe is my first “pod” type coffee machine that I’ve personally owned, though I’ve used them at hotels and other places and found them to be quite convenient. The machine comes with a sampler pack of the coffee pods with 12 different selections from single espresso shots (S - 1.35 fl oz) to a full cup (L - 7.77 fl oz) of coffee. There’s even a decaf pod in the mix, however, the two largest brew sizes available (XL - 12 and 18 fl oz) are not included in the sampler.
This “Licorice Black” model is a limited-edition design by Breville and has a matte black body with gold colored accents. The build is mostly lightweight plastic with only the drip tray made of solid metal. It’s definitely consumer-grade but has a higher-end aesthetic. The Vertuo Pop+ is designed to be a smaller unit than traditional espresso machines. It is fairly compact (14.5”L x 7.5”W x 10.5”H), and the deluxe version has a clear water tank to one side that holds around 4 cups of water. The downside is that the height of the dispensing spout only allows you to fill vessels up to 4.75” tall or 5.5” without the drip tray. The tray has a secondary upper slot for shorter glasses like espresso shot and cappuccino cups. While the 12 and 18 oz capsules are compatible with this machine, note that you’ll need to find a short, wide vessel that can fit under the spout and hold the total volume of liquid dispensed.
The sealed aluminum coffee capsules are airtight, locking in the freshness of the grounds and allowing the pods to keep for up to 12 months without going stale. To insert a capsule, just turn the handle on top of the machine towards the unlock symbol and move it slightly past to trigger the spring-loaded hinge to pop the top open. I did find that the lightness of the machine generally makes this a two-handed operation as the unit tends to slide despite the small rubber feet on the bottom.
The capsule is placed into a cup and when you close the lid and lock it, the foil on top gets punctured, breaking the seal, so be sure only to place capsules in the machine just prior to brewing. This machine uses centrifusion over traditional high-pressure espresso brewing. After hot water is injected into the pod, the capsule is spun at 7000 rpm to infuse the water with the coffee and forces the brewed liquid out of smaller holes at the perimeter of the pod, producing a thick crema.
The Pop+ has only one multi-function button that you press once to start a brew cycle, 3 times to start a cleaning cycle, or press and hold for 7 seconds to descale the machine. All the information the machine needs to determine brew settings like how much water to use, water temperature, and brew time is determined by the barcode printed around the rim of each pod and are automatically applied when you press the start button. This makes the machine simple to use and provides consistent results but limits your ability to customize the brew to your specific tastes. You’ll also want to pop the lid open after brewing to “eject” the spent capsule into the collection bin which can hold around 4 pods before you need to empty it. I also recommend leaving the lid open to air out the machine and let the interior dry fully before closing to avoid any issues with mold or mildew inside.
The other brew option is to enable “Expert mode” with a double press of the brew button (LED flashes light blue) which delivers a more concentrated brew as ristretto (half shot), single, or double espresso shots automatically determined depending on the size pod you’re using while adjusting brew parameters for optimal extraction. The result is a naturally sweeter and less harsh version of the same drink with about half the volume, a smoother taste, less acidity, and reduced bitterness. These types of shots are perfect for milk drinks where you’ll be adding back the volume with cold or steamed milk but don’t want your drink watered down or if you simply prefer a more concentrated taste. Just note that the Pop+ doesn’t have its own milk frother built in, so if you want steamed milk, you’ll need to make that separately.
So far I’ve tried a handful of the capsules in my starter pack, and I’ve enjoyed them all. Espresso shots come out velvety and smooth without any acrid, sour, or over-extracted taste; perfect for sipping or a quick hit of caffeine in the morning. The Colombia capsule brewed a nice tall glass of mild, medium-roasted Americano style coffee with hint of tart cherry fruit flavor; however, it was very foamy and my 12 oz cup, which was already a smidge too tall to sit on the drip tray, couldn’t contain the whole drink, and I had to swap glasses for the last couple of ounces to avoid an overflow.
The Fortado (Gran Lugo size) was packed full with multi-layered flavors of blended Arabica and Robusta beans, a hint of cinnamon spice, and dark chocolate, which with the two inches of foam, fit nicely in my double-walled 12 oz mug. The Bianco Doppio was a favorite of mine, producing a light-bodied double shot with a natural creaminess; it’s meant to be served with milk, so I added steamed oat milk to make a latte which only enhanced the richness of the drink and brought out some caramel notes. Keep in mind you have to add your own sweeteners, if that’s your preference. I can’t wait to try the rest of the flavors as each one is a little different.
The Pop+ is also compatible with the Nespresso smartphone app and connects with it via Bluetooth. However, it doesn’t provide much additional functionality except for firmware updates (requires a WiFi connection), initiating an emptying feature for long-term storage, and factory reset. The app contains information like operating instructions with video, maintenance operations, and basic recipes for making a cappuccino or latte (requires a milk frother); it will also link the serial number of your machine to your Nespresso account for the 1-year warranty. The app is primarily a storefront for ordering coffee capsules, add-ons, and accessories from Nespresso, and a coupon is included in the box for your first order of 50 capsules or more.
In the past, I’ve been hesitant to get a pod machine because they are notorious for creating a lot of landfill waste. However, Nespresso has a recycling program that lets you recycle spent capsules by dropping them off at collection points, like a Williams-Sonoma or Nespresso store location, or you can order and fill a free recycling bag returned via a pre-paid shipping label. Folks in select cities can deposit them directly into their recycle bins at home so hopefully this convenience can be expanded to all customers in the future.
The only drawback of the barcode system is that you can’t use a “re-usable” pod that you fill with your own coffee grounds. There also aren’t any compatible third-party capsules available until the patent runs out. Vertuo coffee pods currently average $1-3 each and are generally sold in sleeves of 10, though specialty blends may come in smaller packs or larger boxed sets, and specific flavors can be ordered individually. That puts the per serving price point a little higher than other pod style coffees but still plenty cheaper than buying a cup of Joe at a full-service café. Note that the machine also cannot dispense plain hot water for tea, and hacks to do so like reusing a washed out empty capsule or utilizing the clean cycle may produce cloudy water with residual grounds in it.
Overall, the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ is a simple-to-use, on-demand coffee machine that produces a variety of tasty espresso and coffee drinks from pre-ground recyclable coffee capsules at the push of a button. The machine brews quickly, and you can have your drink ready in a couple minutes or less. Larger volume brewing is available as well though there are limited ways for you to customize your drinks as all the settings are determined automatically via the capsule’s barcode; just make sure your vessel is on the oversized side to capture all the foam/crema to avoid spills. There is a wide selection of flavors available to order and seasonal exclusives to keep things interesting.

For someone who just started to like espresso a few years ago, I am really enjoying this machine! I still don’t drink coffee, for some reason, I’m just not a fan. I have a compact, more traditional espresso machine, but this Nespresso one is so easy to use. I don’t know if I’ll be able to use that again.
In the box with this Breville Nespresso machine is a sample set of 12 Nespresso Vertuo pods. This is key in figuring out what you like. The Vertuo pods come in different sizes, which takes a little bit of learning to figure out. My go-to size will be the double espresso, because I like to make iced Americanos.
To use a Vertuo pod, all you do is open the top of the Nespresso machine and pop it into the pod holder spot, lock down the lid, and push the button to start brewing. In a few seconds, your beverage of choice is being dispensed below. These pods are so easy and pretty tidy. The used pod flips into the side bin until you empty it out. You can get a recycling bag from Nespresso and send it to them. The pods and lids are aluminum, which is highly recyclable.
Besides being easy to use, the machine is nicely designed. The beverage holder stand is adjustable, there are two heights. You can also simply remove it, which comes in handy when you are cleaning the machine. The water tank is easy to see in the rear and on the side. When I have to move the machine a little bit on the counter, the water can’t really leak all over unless I really do something wrong. The power cord is long, and is long enough to wrap around and I can sort of tuck the plug into the cord and it stays put. The matte black and gold is a really nice look.

Convenient and Tasty, But Kinda Spendy

Esthetically, the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Coffee and Espresso Maker is beautiful. The matte black color will go with just about any kitchen’s decor and the gold accents make it feel luxurious. The machine itself is compact and fits nicely in a corner by our other coffee maker. It’s really easy to set up and use. I appreciate that the machine can distinguish which type of pod you place in it and will then brew your espresso, double espresso, gran lingo, or coffee exactly as intended. When you open the lid after brewing, an arm mechanism grabs the used pod and disposes it into an integrated bin. I LOVE this feature, especially because others in my household aren’t always good about removing their used pods from the brew chamber.
While the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ is WiFi enabled and compatible with the Nespresso app, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of functionality within said app. I personally expected to be able to schedule a brew time so that I could wake up, grab my coffee, and go in the morning. Unfortunately the app is primarily for letting you know when cleaning is needed and is a place for you to shop for additional pods. Speaking of, Nespresso pods are harder to find in stores and significantly more expensive than K-cups. That being said, they are made of aluminum and can be sent in for recycling, which certainly feels a bit more responsible than throwing plastic in the trash. Personally, I also think the end product is of high quality, but that is obviously subjective. Maybe this is an example of getting what you pay for?

I drink a lot of coffee, and use other pods, and also have an espresso machine, but nothing compares to the convenience and quality of the Vertuo pods.
Pods: Vertuo comes in different sizes, from ristretto, espresso, double espresso to 5 oz cups and 8 oz or 12 oz mugs, so it can make both espresso and drip coffee. The machine identifies the pod and pours accordingly. It also creates more coffee crema (foam) because it spins the pod while brewing, so there is nothing like these pods.
The Vertuo Pop+ is small, and this particular version has golden accents on the top dial and drip cup, with the rest of the body in black matte finish. Overall it looks very nice, although there is an attention to form over function. The acrylic water tank is on the side, which looks nice but might not be practical as it takes more space. When opening the lid, the used pod falls into a trash bin in the center of the machine. This is a nice touch, but not ideal if trying to minimize space. The drip sprout and most of the assembly where the coffee drips from the pod is not removable, making cleaning challenging.
The machine needs to warm up for about 30 seconds before it can brew the first capsule if it wasn't used for a while. Works right away when warm.
The machine comes with a sample pack with pods in different sizes, which is very nice, I got to sample some flavors that I wouldn't usually buy.
I didn't realize right away that the machine has a Bluetooth and WiFi connection, and it's set up via the Nespresso app. The app can be used to order pods as well as initiate wash and descaling cycles. This can also be done via multiple clicks of the single button on the machine.
Something to consider is that this machine is not compatible with the original Nespresso pods, and the Vertuo line is very limited and much more expensive than any other capsule coffee. Besides the Nespresso branded flavors, Starbucks has a limited amount of capsules as well.

The Nespresso Vertuo Pop is a nice little machine, with a conveniently placed water tank on the side for ease of access. The limited edition color wave is clean, a nice matte black finish with a gold trim around the lock and place for the mug rest/drip catch.
In the Box you get the brewer, sample pack plus quick guides and information. During the set up, you add water in the tank, lock and triple tap the brew button and a 30 sum odd oz container to catch the water to cleanse the system. I used a couple large mugs and swapped them as they were getting full, after that you can brew at your delight!
There are multiple options such as Espresso, Double Espresso, Gran Lungo, and Coffee, the convenience to this machine is you place the pod in to the machine, it spins up to read the barcode on the bottom edge of the pod, this tells the machine how much water to add for the brewing process. This machine brews a little different as it puts several holes on the top using one to fill the pod with water and spins to brew out the other the other holes. This causes a more aerated brew.
Once brewed, opening the top the used pod drops into a catch, which you can remove from the side to easily dispose of. The great thing is these can easily be recycled! I bought a few pods from Nespresso and you can get a bag included that you can place the pods in, with a prepaid shipping label that Nespresso will recycle for you!
I can find some variety of coffees and espresso locally, but the variety of pods are great from Nespresso! There are origin blends, flavored coffee, seasonal, half caff and many more! This is my brewer at work and my coworkers appreciate this machine just as much as me!

Next level for pod coffee

This Nespresso Vertuo machine takes pod coffee to the next level. Unlike the standard Nespresso pods I’ve used in hotels, Vertuo pods feature a barcode around the rim, allowing the machine to automatically adjust the cup size, temperature, and brew strength—eliminating any guesswork.
This coffee maker is perfect for those who want coffee quickly without the hassle of a traditional coffee pot. I think it would be ideal for Airbnbs and elderly people. My mom, who quit drinking coffee because of the difficulty she had brewing at her age, has been stopping by just to use this machine for the last week, and is absolutely thrilled with its simplicity.
The machine is beautiful with gold accents and a compact design that saves counter space. The removable water tank makes refills convenient, and I love the auto-eject feature, which moves used pods into a built-in bin that holds about five pods before it needs to be emptied. The coffee comes out very hot, just the way I like it!
One downside is that I couldn’t find Nespresso brand pods in local stores—only other compatible options like Starbucks. Since the machine doesn’t come with any pods, I’ve ordered some directly from Nespresso’s website to try them out. Overall, I’m impressed with both the quality and convenience of this machine.

This machine is the epitome of convenience and taste.
Setup was super easy. Plug in install app from Android follow the steps and you are connected via app for stats order pods etc. Of course the obvious is you need to create an account as part of the process. Signing up also gives you an advance with offers like pods and different flavors. The store bought ones are a bit limited right now. So if you want more flavors you need to go to their website for full access. Their website also allows for pod recycling. If you guys a certain $ amount you can get a pod recycling bag and send it back to them.fpr recycling. Pods are a little pricey but if you are coffee snot I think you will pay the price for premium coffee. Doing the rough math you would need to use this for about 2 months before you break even going to a coffee shop. After that you would be saving substantially after that.
So operating the machine is super simple. Follow the instructions for first flush and cleaning the reservoir. After that fill the reservoir with clean drinking water. Unlock, the top open the top insert a pod push it down lock it and push the button and watch the brew happen.
The Nespresso is pretty intuitive on the pod size you put it. You can see there is a spring that gets pushed depending on size of pod so it knows how much to brew.
The brewing itself is nice. The espresso comes out nice and smooth. Not bitter or sour. This is due to temperature control and flow of the brew. Also the end where it starts to create the froth is nice.
Truly great experience. As long as you are ok with the pods being a little on the pricey side getting a premium cup of home made espresso is the way to go vs buying it at a store front.

Nespresso is my favorite at home coffee maker – fast, easy, and great tasting. Everyone is amazed at how good the coffee is when they visit. - I feel like I should get a commission from Nespresso for how many guests I’ve turned on to this :-)
This is a slimmed down version of the Vertuo line. It has a nice small footprint to minimize counter space, yet still a decent water reservoir (20 oz) to make a 3-4 cups back to back depending on coffee pod type.
Heats up in only 25-30 seconds and makes both espresso and coffee based on the type of Vertuo pod you put in. The cup holder has 2 height adjustment settings perfect for regular cup – the lower position fits my insulated 14 oz coffee cup perfectly (see pic) and upper position is ideal for espresso cups.
It is extremely easy to use – just “pop” in the Nespresso coffee pod, turn the handle to lock and press the button - that’s it. The machine will know how much water to use based on the type of Vertua pod you use.
Some quick notes to be aware of:
This version is too small to handle a larger/taller 20+ oz rambler style coffee cup. You’ll need to brew in a smaller cup and then pour into a taller cup if you’re using a bigger cup for the road.
This is only for Vertuo pods (not older style smaller pods) so make sure you purchase Vertuo pods.
The water tower is in a fixed position to the left and cannot be rotated.

The Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Matte Black Gold by Breville is a nice compact Nespresso machine that is a great alternative to traditional coffee makers. At only 8.6” wide, 10.4” high, and 14” deep, the Vertuo Pop+ doesn’t take up much space and can fit in smaller spaces compared to my previous Nespresso machine.
This is my first Vertuo machine, I have come to love my well worn original capsule machine but sometimes I would like a bit more coffee than the lungo pour you could achieve through original capsules. The Vertuo is Nespresso’s answer to the limitations of their original capsules with the ability to provide an entire range of coffees from a single espresso to a 12oz brew depending on the capsule. The Nespresso Pop+ also manages to make operation even simpler by utilizing an intuitive single button operation. The Limited Edition Matte Black Gold Pop+ features a larger water tank and a unique modern matte black finish with gold accents providing elevated aesthetics. The side water tank is easy to access, but the 37oz reservoir could be a touch larger in my opinion. The 30 second heat up time offers fast operation, spinning the pods to determine brew time and pod rotation speed. During brewing, the machine spins the pods at high speed producing a large amount of crema, almost too much for my taste. After the brief cycle is complete you open the machine again to eject used pods, which it stores up to five 7.7 oz pods. The Pop+ includes a nice assortment of twelve pods, with many more available through the Nespresso app or website. You are able to link the machine to the app, but I found little benefit as the machine connection to the app was spotty and most functionality, including rinsing the system can be done standalone.
The coffee quality and flavor is largely dependent on the pods, but I found all to be pretty good and I like the variety that Vertuo pods offer. Overall, the Pop+ Matte Black Gold looks great and provides a wide range of elevated coffee experiences while not sacrificing counter space to large, bulk equipment.

I’m a coffee aficionado and the first thing I noticed after unboxing the Nespresso Limited-Edition Vertuo Pop+ Coffee and Espresso Maker is how nice it looks. This Matte Black Gold model looks sophisticated and it has such a small footprint which makes it easy to place and look great in a kitchen.
This coffee maker stands low but a bit longer than a traditional coffee machine. It has a capsule storage on the side with a small water tank at the back on the left side. The package comes with twelve capsules with different flavors, some decaf, covering all four different cup sizes: 1.35, 2.7, 5 and 7.77 fluid ounces. I have a household of four coffee drinkers and I wish that it was capable of making more ounces at a time. As indicated by Nespresso, this model is only compatible with the Vertuo capsules; the classic capsules cannot be used.
The first time setup was easy and fast. The online guide is the best option and has plenty of how-to short videos that are helpful. Once ready, I tried a single espresso capsule for myself and I was impressed with how quickly it was ready. It barely took a minute to be ready, which is a plus. The procedure could not be simpler. Pour water in the water tank, unlock and open the top, put a capsule, close it back and lock it, then press the button at the top, it blinks and then becomes solid as the coffee is being prepared and that is it. I’ve tried several different types, and they all came out tasting fresh and full of flavor. I’ve quickly ordered more of my favorites.
There’s also a Nespresso app that you can connect the Vertuo Pop+ to, but from exploring it, I could only find maintenance features and limited settings. There are no programming options from what I was able to find out.
To conclude, the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ Coffee and Espresso Maker by Breville is a quality built coffee machine that is very easy to use and consistently performed admirably; the coffee quality was consistent. Despite being limited in the amount of coffee that can be brewed at one time, I would recommend it for coffee lovers who don’t consume at high volume.

This is a great little machine. I needed something for a smaller space and this worked out well. Nespresso pods are so much better than any other pod system out there. The coffee selection is good and tasty. Granted, I have a Rancilio Silva espresso machine which produces great espresso, but when I need something quick, I go to my Nespresso. Easy to use, easy to clean and a decent cup of joe. Just get it already.
