Easy setup with WPS. I’m using my OWN Netgear modem / router to bring in the 400 Mbps from Spectrum. At the corners of my house I would get spotty internet with lots of dead zones which got annoying really quick. I purchased this after it went on sale to $149.99. Only comes with power adapter but thats all you need. Plug it in and sync it up with WPS and BAM my entire property is covered in 400 Mbps... or more.

The mesh extender works really well when you have weak signals in your house and gets the same speed as you would on the original router.

Installed this with a Netgear R2630 router and an Arris SB6813 cable modem using Spectrum 100Mbps service. The WiFi signal has greatly improved throughout the location. I suggest you enable the “One WiFi Name” feature to simplify the setup and use. The printed instructions in the user guide varied from the actual setup. I also recommend to download and install the latest firmware from Netgear after you’re up and running.

I needed a means to extend my WiFi coverage from the access point to the whole house. Nighthawk Mesh X6S Tri-Band WiFi Mesh Extender does that very nicely without any special tools or knowledge. I am also running my Arlo base station connected to it for my security cameras. I get coverage on both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz and the WiFi extender is smart enough to allocate channels so that all the traffic doesn't overload a channel.

I recently installed security camera in my driveway and new wifi garage opener. I need a wifi extender that can also cover outside my house. EX8000 is exactly what I needed. I positioned in the middle of the house. It has wide coverage. Even my desktop in my office now has a good coverage. Recommended!

This thing extends my WiFi incredibly. Now have full coverage all over the house. I am old school so I manually set it up via IP address instead of wps.

Enhanced WiFi for the Technically Unsophisticated

I waited to review this Netgear Nighthawk Extender for over two months to see how my initial very positive impression held up over a longer period of time. For me it has. This was a product for which I'd been waiting. I'm minimally tech savvy and wanted a reasonably strong house-wide WiFi signal that wouldn't require changing my existing WifI user i.d. and password or having to depend on customer service for set up. My router (supplied by Verizon Fios) is in the basement of our one-story rancher, just to one side of a utility room. The Wifi signal was fine in the basement and on the side of the house where the router resides. On the other side, however - the side with all the bedrooms - we had poor signal strength, with the signal having to go through the floor and multiple walls. This was improved somewhat by attaching better antennas to the router, but was still fair at best and the connection was often dropped. After installing the Netgear Nighthawk Extender we've had consistently good signal strength throughout the house. Streaming? No problem! Set up was very straightforward. There was one step near the end of the process that I had to repeat several times, but once past that things were good to go. I'd also like to comment on two facets of this unit that professional and more tech-informed reviewers usually mention. One is that it cannot be individually configured to the extent that some competing extenders can. For someone with my level of technical sophistication, that's either a blessing, a non-issue, or both. The other is the size/appearance of this Netgear unit. If I had had to place it in a bedroom or the family room, I probably would have had to hide it somewhere. However, I actually like the way it looks next to my desk in my home office. It fits in well with the modern decor.

Best purchase to extend Spectrum wifi

I had the new Spectrum modem and separate router installed yesterday to replace my Ubee after almost 3 years. However WiFi was always hit and miss because my equipment is in my basement where my office is. I was sure nothing would ever bring the signal up to par on my main and upper floors and my apartment over garage! Well my signal has never been better!!! So far outstanding speeds. Took a few minutes to read the instructions for setup which was initially done at router in basement. I installed the app on my iPhone. Took a few minutes to register everything. Lights all came on. One SSID for 2.4 and 5g network. Placed Nighthawk in middle of house and for the first time in years, I reach to second floor, and thru cement garage and up to tenant apartment. Very very pleased.

I'm reviewing the Netgear EX8000 X6S AC3000 Wifi Extender. I have a four year old ASUS RT-N66U Dual Band router which works fine with this extender. I used the WPS push button option to add the extender to my network. After WPS completed successfully, I moved the extender approx. 45 feet away from my router. It takes anywhere from a minute to 5 minutes for the extender to boot up after you turn it on so don't rush to judgement if it blinks a long time. Give it time. One point of confusion, the LED description table in the Quick Start guide indicates a solid red light means a poor connection. I don't believe that is true IF you have a solid white light on the other relevant LED's AND if the extender is functioning properly. In my case, I have this combination of LED's and the extender is working well: Link Status - Solid Red These LED's are all solid White Max ThroughPut, 5 Ghz, 2.4 Ghz, Client Link and WPS - meaning the network is enabled with WIFI security. Take note: From what I can find online, the EX8000 coverage is 2,500 sq. ft. Stated another way that's only a circle with a 57 ft. diameter so don't expect miracles if you try to use it beyond the stated coverage of the extender and your router. With that said, the extender is working great in my 2,900 sq. ft. single floor house. I now have a 5 Ghz connection anywhere in my house, garage or backyard patio. Previously, 5 Ghz was only reliable in a couple rooms close to the router. When running Speedtest on my tablet from my garage I now get 84 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up. From the bedroom that is furthest from the router I get 82 down and 11 up. Backyard patio: 78 down. 12 up. My 5 star rating will remain unless my Sonos music gets intermittent drop outs like it did before I hooked up this extender.

I’ll start by saying I have the Nighthawk x6s AC4000 Tri Band R8000P router. This mesh extender is an awesome addition. I live in a 2400 sq foot 2 level home. Router is on 1st floor and upstairs wasn’t getting enough “juice” to stream and game for 7 ppl effectively. The router was good just need a little extra help. My gamer boy was only getting 2 bars on WiFi and too much staggered ping . Streaming was fine. So I added this extender upstairs and on the opposite side of house. Game boy gets 5 bars and a steady low ping. All is well in the world. Anywho, I have fios, not cable internet. Very happy with this extender. Set up through the app was a little tricky, once it was connected to the router it was fine (directions said to set up the extender in the same room as the router, then unplug and move to where you want it) and when I unplugged it and moved it I couldn’t get it to connect to the router again without going through the WPS connection. So once I figured that out, the extender has full bars (bright white light) of juice going through it. System is a little pricey but hopefully worth it in the long run.

I bought the Nighthawk to extend the range of my WiFi out to my garage and backyard area. It works pretty well. Placed high in the center of my garage, the signal light fluctates between white (strong) and amber (moderate). I can now watch Netfix, stream music, etc. with pretty decent speeds.

I purchased this to pair with a Nighthawk X6 AC3200 (R8000) router to extend our coverage and to use the hard line feature on the X6S for our PC and Xbox upstairs. Setup was easy and quick with the Nighthawk app. That is about the only positive experience I had unfortunately. It worked very well for about 10 minutes then kept dropping connection while doing light web browsing. It showed full signal strength and was functioning in 2.4 and 5ghz. It showed the hard line was working as well. Speed tests would fluctuate from 5 down and 2-3 up all the way to 370 down and 40 up. This is with Gig internet. I did a soft reset and still had the same issues. I checked the setting and firmware on the router as well as the the extender. I then did a hard reset and went through the initial setup process again. It seemed to fix it for a few hours. Then I tried gaming on both Xbox and PC. Nothing but lag and being removed from both Xbox Live parties and matches. Our mobile devices also had a hard time staying connected as well. All with iPhone 8 and newer devices. Go with a full mesh system if you need the coverage.

This was an awesome buy. We replaced the old router with a NetGear and it did not cover the entire house. We installed this in 10 minutes and we had instant faster service that covered 100% of the house and the backyard. It works great fast and easy to install. My 15 YO son installed and connected the unit to the associated phone app with the router. Works like a charm.

I have tried so many different combinations of modems, routers, and gateways with no results. Even tried using the Google and other mesh systems but they couldn't handle the speed I needed to run my home. This was my last ditch effort before I decided to go postal on my service provider. I can finally stream on all my devices and run all of my cameras, music, etc without lagging or timing out.

I paired this Nighthawk X6S mesh extender with my X6S router, hoping to extend my wifi to the backyard, garage, etc. I connected the two via ethernet. Setup was simple. I am very happy with the results. I would say this network rivals other mesh systems for speed, coverage, and ease of use.

A breeze to set up. I used it as a wired access point off of the cable company's router to extend the existing network SSID. Works smoothy. I haven't had to touch it since I installed it. Works perfectly. Good strong signal and no speed reduction at all. Transparent switching across the wireless network.

I have a large apartment with a thick of walls. The bedrooms are far from the router and we've had trouble getting solid wifi for years, even with a top of the line nighthawk router and gigabit speed. We initially bought a the cheapest/smallest netgear extender to no avail. We switched to the 5ghz version and still had laggy internet that dropped. Not wanting to deal a whole new mesh setup we decided to buy the best netgear had to offer in the extender category and are thrilled with the results. Easy to use, quick set up and now those dead zones are getting 300mbps speeds. The price is on the higher end and the unit is much larger than our old extender, but it's doing its job and doing it well.

I bought his to help with range in one bedroom. This device not only helped with that but it it helped speed up my connection in other rooms. IT is fairly simple to set up and the transition between my router and extender is seamless.
