I am very happy with my purchase. I purchased a Netgear docsis 3.1 modem and Netgear NightHawk X6s router when I upgraded to gigabit internet. I never got the speed I paid for. Had the cable company come check it out. The speed was coming to the modem but wasn’t making it out of the router to my devices. I tried a linksys router but didn’t get me there either. My highest Speedtest results were in the 425-450mbps. I read the reviews for the Orbi and thought I should give it a try. The price almost discouraged me but I took a leap of faith. So happy I did. Setup was easy using the IOS App. Now I consistently get 941mbps with Speedcheck. That’s about what I was promised by Cox. All this time I thought it was their fault (throttling my speed). Turns out it was my routers all along. I apologize to you Cox. I’m not angry anymore. Expensive but in my case, worth it. Hopefully it keeps working for a long time. Thanks to the reviewers who helped me make this purchase decision.

I upgraded from a Google WiFi system with 3 pucks. The google system was always solid and I NEVER had any connection issues, however, I have Fios gigabit service from Verizon and could never get more than 50 down on my 3rd floor (furthest from the router which is on my 1st floor). I understand you’ll never be able to get gigabit speeds through WiFi but that just didn’t sit well with me.
The Orbi system now has me getting upwards of 150 down on my 3rd floor and when I’m close to the router station on the first floor the Orbi averages 400-500 or so down. So far I’m happy with this purchase. I’m also now future proof with WiFi 6 albeit my only compatible device is my iPhone 11.
Also, setup couldn’t have been easier. I literally disconnected the google system opened up the Orbi app, plugged in the router, scanned the QR code and then connected the satellite upstairs. The whole set-up took 5-7 minutes.
I also considered the Eero Pro but this Orbi system was cheaper and has better specs and WiFi 6 which I don’t believe Eero Pro has.
Cheers!

I recently moved to a 2,500 sqft home and I have an office, where I work from home out of on the weekdays. The cable modem has a cord ran out of the wall in the living room. So I first purchased the Google Nest Wifi assuming it would be good to have two mesh routers in the house. For coverage it was great but when it got to speed I was just capped at 400 MBPS Download. My ISP had more to offer, so I exchanged it for the pride and true Linksys AX6000. The speeds we're good coming back more in the 600 MBPS area. But my coverage was lacking in the corner of where my office is located on the other side of the house. I unfortunately had to another exchange and I wanted it to be my final one. So I went for the Netgear Orbi AX4200. Now after setting up everything up I was happy with the performance and of course the coverage was phenomenal. I'm pulling 800 MBPS and 900 MBPS download which is overkill in itself but wanted to get as close as a Gig as I could. If your reading this review and your in the same boat. Just purchase these when they go on sale. They typically start at $449 and fluctuate down.

I have had the Orbi for several weeks and it has worked fast. Blazing speeds. Went from an Ubiquiti network to this and I must say it is just as reliable but so much more user friendly. I would highly recommend this product.

Orbi AX 4200 Router
By Jim L.
Netgear has hit one out of the park with this system. I replaced my old Spectrum cable router with The Orbi WiFI 6 system what a difference. The new Orbi Router is 4 to 6 times faster than the old Cable router. Speed, Stability and Easy Set UP is what you will get with the NETGEAR system. I highly recommend it. Well worth the cost! Also after turing in my old router my cable bill is now $5.00 a month less. So in time Orbi 4200 will pay for itself.

Easy Install, quality product, fair price.
Out of the box till setup and working one hour.
I purchased this setup to help support moving off Cable and to streaming on my four TVs and to help support my WiFi Ring Devices, Nest Devices, Roost Devices, Alexa Devices, IRobot Devices, and my IPhones.
I also installed a new Netgear Modem to replace my Cable Rental Modem.
Very pleased with overall performance, connectivity, WIFI signal reaching all parts of my house, and some follow up support provided to help with IPhone WIFI drop.

I have a 1.2 mbps internet service with xfinity. I have never experience lightning fast internet because i have never bought a compatible modem and router until now. When i upgraded to the netgear orbi rbk720, i immediately realized what i have been missing before. Lightning fast internet speed all over the house. My download speed on all my devices average 940mbps. Amazing! Videos download instantly that i nwvwr had before. Finally i am enjoying my internet download speed that before. I have a two story 3,100 sq ft house. Now i have excellent speed inside and outside by my backyard.

Owner of several NETGEAR Routes in many years, I tried other Routes and didn’t find anything else that compares to NETGEAR. I recently upgrade my router with NETGEAR ORBI WiFi 6, installation easy, secure, most of all this product for-fill all of my WiFi entire home needs. With over twenty devices connected I have no problem with ORBI WiFi 6, I highly recommend this product for anyone who is interested in a robust tri band mesh WiFi system

Purchase this system last night to replace a 6 year old Netgear Nighthawk R8500 that was starting to give us issues.
Set up was much easier than previous posts had mentioned. Could have been completely done in 20 mins including a firmware update but I had to work on a few Hard wiring replacements and rearrange the location for this new router to sit.
Using the Orbi app was super easy. I had to reboot the Orbi 1x during initial set up. The satellite connected instantly and without any effort. Changing the SSID to my old one with the old password was super easy, and the App will prompt you every step of the way, just follow the app. All my devices reconnected with no issues.
I love how you can test your internet speed right from the router then compare that to the machines connected. It keeps a log of your tests also so you can see if you have repeated issues at certain times of the days. My internet speed is only 400 Mps right now and this handles it easily on multiple machines at a time. When I finally make the jump to 1k this system can handle it.
It is a little larger than other units but I figure good antennas need some place to go. It still looks clean out in the open.
I also like the independence of Netgear vs using a system from Google or Amazon (eero) which I almost went with and their efforts to steer things towards their products. I have been using Netgear routers for 20+ years and they always do well.

I bought the Netgear Orbi Mesh WiFi 6 system after my other router died. I had a router/booster extender setup for my two story home. The booster/extender worked okay here and there but would disconnect on me, I wasn’t reaching anywhere near my speed of my internet, and I always forgot to switch over to other network when I was on my second floor. With the NETGEAR Orbi mesh system I do not have to worry about any of those problems anymore. The Orbi was easy to setup. I have internet all over my house even in places the extender couldn’t reach and the internet speed is amazingly fast! It’s all one network name so I do not have to worry about switching back and forth. This was the best purchase and upgrade I’ve made for my network.

Solid Performance with 1 major hitch

The overall performance of this system is great, when you get past an annoying error caused by the Netgear Firmware. Often times when you attempt to go t a website you'll get an error message for DNS_PROBE that appears like you're offline then after less than a second the site will load. It is a frustrating issue but after digging I identified the root cause is the Netgear firmware. In order to mitigate this issue go to Advanced > Advanced > IPv6 > and change internet connection type to "6to4 Tunnel". Doing this bypasses the IPv4 hiccups with the DNS resolution within the routers firmware and mitigates the issue. Other than that it's a great performing router and connection is solid. It does tend to drop briefly when switching between router and Satellite but when connected it is a solid experience. I have a 3500 sq foot house and the Satellite and Router are more than sufficient.

I bought this to replace the lease router I had for spectrum. My internet speed is 500mbps. The Netgear Orbi works well. I bought this because of the reviews; Over 2K reviews. The satellite is plugged with my computer in the corner of my house. I used to have a range extender plugged in with my PC which was getting 75-100Mbps. My phone would get 130-150mbps. This was sort of a dead zone. Now I get 500+ in that exact same spot.
In my garage I would get 75mbps now I get 450+. Overall happy with it.

I just set up my new Orbi system. I was previously using a Netgear Nighthawk R8000. We've just moved from a 1,700 sq ft house to a 2,700 sq ft house and the Nighthawk could not keep up. I'm paying for At&t 1 gig service and was consistently testing speeds around 100-300 Mbps. Before I picked up the Orbi, I ran a speed test on the Nighthawk, outside on my back porch. I installed the Orbi router in the exact same location, using the exact same cables (satellite installed upstairs) and ran another test on my back porch in the same spot. Results speak for themselves. Buy it! Doesn't hurt when its on sale for $100 off either.

Set up process was a pain, not because it wasn’t easy, but because the app kept crashing and failed to update firmware. Eventually, I just reset both the router and the satellite with the small holes in the back and started fresh. Boy oh boy I love these things. I am returned my eeros in favour of these as my eeros constantly gave no connection and horrible bufferbloat across all of my devices, so far, I am loving the Orbi. My whole house has coverage and I am getting the 500 mbps speeds that I am paying for. I further enhanced this system by having a moca connection going from the coax to an ethernet switch which the router is feeding for the nearby game consoles and in turn is sending the internet through the coax lines of the house. The satellite is upstairs and is hardwired directly to the coaxial line with moca for the strongest signal, which means the satellite AND the router are broadcasting the fastest speeds possible. I love it, even in the rooms in the furthest corners of the house, my game consoles and computers are hardwired through a netgear switch connected to the satellite which in turn is receiving the internet through the Moca. I am very happy with this system and I can tell it will serve me well for all of my 4k streaming, conference calls, and gaming!

So, in hindsight I wish I had a 3 pack, but nonetheless, these are great products. I had been considering adding mesh products to my network for some time, so when they went on sale for the holidays I finally pounced.
The app (once setup) has great visibility into all devices and network details, the coverage is great (I have the base in my living room right next to my ISP modem/router combo, and the satellite upstairs in my loft) in all areas of the house. Over Wifi, my laptops are pulling anywhere from 300-650 down, and around 50+ up. Even my really old laptop was seeing speeds in that upper range (with only Wireless N capabilities). Wired I'm getting the 'up to' speeds that I'm actually paying Cox for! About 2 weeks in and so far so good. Truth be told, I also added this to the mix right after I upgraded my Cox modem to the newest model so there is a 2nd variable involved in the equation. However, I did tests with that new device before I added these in and while improved, it was not like the speeds and coverage I get with the Orbi devices.
Downfalls-initial setup was not nearly as quick and easy as advertised. Definitely a little more difficult to get connected than I was lead to believe. It was not hard, it just wasn't quite as simple as I thought. Also would be nice if there was a desktop interface as opposed to ONLY through the app (though the app is pretty user friendly).
Pros: Speeds, coverage area, ability to assign devices (and restrictions) to different users, analytics within the app, guest network
Cons: Setup not as easy as I thought, somewhat cost prohibitive if not on sale.

I am a self-proclaimed tech lover and this router gets the job done! I love to play video games, stream live sports, and work with a house full of connected devices and Orbi has been an amazing solution for me. I loved my nighthawk (which I still have), but the mesh system with the Orbi allows me to have a strong and consistent connection in my office for important meetings while being able to have movies and games on the TV downstairs. I highly recommend for anyone, especially if you're like me and enjoy changing up the work and play routines at home.
