Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Orbi 970's extensive coverage, ease of setup and use, and strong performance, with many praising its signal strength and range. However, customers are negative about the high price point, and some experienced connection issues and found the units to be large. The app also received criticism for being outdated and lacking features. While some appreciated the included security features, others noted concerns about the parental controls requiring a subscription.

This product is crazy expensive, but, it performs like no other. I have a 5gig up and down fiber internet plan. I get those speeds and more. Super easy to set up and use. My iPhone 16 pro max is wifi 7. Wirelessly I regularly get 1500 to 1700 on a regular basis. Highly recommended! jminjax.

After using Google Wifi Mesh for years, I chose to go with something different that actually had a better plan for future wifi standards and support. Almost every single review pointed out the Orbi 970 Series as the best (and most expensive) wifi mesh. For me this is absolutely true and completely blows almost all others competition-wise out of the water. It's quad-band set up makes this work flawlessly. Two of these easily covers a two story 2600 sq ft home with no issues. This includes outside coverage in the yard, as well! All that said, it is extremely expensive. However, it's completely worth the price and is an exceptionally worthwhile investment.

The client expressed profound satisfaction with this system. It provides comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage throughout her newly constructed, spacious home, utilizing six gig fiber optic connections. The client sought a robust system, and this one met their requirements. If you are seeking the ultimate Wi-Fi experience, I highly recommend Orbi.

We upgraded our internet to AT&T Fiber 2GB up and down so we needed some faster Wifi mesh. We originally had our Orbi RBR750 which worked well when we had Spectrum, but they werent able to compete with the upload speeds AT&T offers. The new Orbi has better design and i love the ports on the back of each one! There is so much power in these that I am thankful they even make such monsters in Orbi. Thank you thank you!

This is a great upgrade to any previous Orbi systems and definitely superior to other mesh routers, however the price is ridiculous and cannot justify the performance difference compared to the 6E version. Save 1500 and buy the previous gen.

The orbi 970 series system was very easy to setup. It has amazing coverage, not only is our Wi-Fi signal incredibly strong and fast throughout the entire house, it also covers a nice portion of our outdoor pool area and other parts of the property. I was using an older orbi system and the 970 is really worth the upgrade. I also increased our fiber internet speed and the Orbi handles it with ease, having a 10g internet and LAN connection.

For a $2k system, I expected the little things to work better. The app was okay but I couldnt do any speed checks and opened support tickets which didnt help anything at all. I followed the instructions given (which didnt let the speed test work) and just ended up returning it for another brand.

    Futureproof for the house

This is bleeding edge technology for any home that needs an upgrade from wifi 5 or even wifi 6. The ease of use is there to make this a simple solution for any home with more than 40 devices connected together. While internet speed from your ISP is inportant, this is a solution for those who want a fast and relaibel internet connection for all devices. Ths cost is high, as the technology is not inexpensive to produce a router mesh sustem that maintains the connection between access points with a wireless connection that rivals a wired (ethernet) one. Bottom line: its a future proof system for those who want to get ahead and not have to worry about their hone internet becoming outdated or obsolete for the next several years.

This is a great system from Orbi. Don’t have anything else to compare. This system eliminates the need of multiple satellites you need to improve your coverage. This will improve efficiency and productivity. Definitely recommend it, even though it’s little costly but worth every penny.

I'm no stranger to Netgear Orbi mesh Wi-Fi - I had two previous versions of Orbi and they generally performed well. Due to the cost of the Orbi Wi-Fi 7 systems, this was not my first choice. A year ago, I purchased the TP-Link Deco BE85 and I have to say, while it had a few quirks, it performed exceptionally well in my home. I abandoned it due to the security concerns surrounding TP-Link as a brand and began the search for a Wi-Fi 7 alternative. I tried the eero Max 7 first to see if it would fit my needs - while the Max 7 is generally adequate in terms of range and performance, I did have some device connection stability issues and more important, it was missing a lot in terms of feature set that the Orbi offers (i.e. managing everything via browser, being able to manually set Wi-Fi channels when needed, advanced networking functions, etc.). I've had this Orbi system in place for 6 days at this point. Setup was painfully slow as many reviews have indicated, it took about 25 minutes - but thankfully that's a one-time issue, I can live with that. Coverage as compared to the eero Max 7 is definitely better - the Orbi has greater range and faster speeds. The Wi-Fi 7 MLO option is enabled by default and works very well, it provides fantastic throughput (I currently have 3 Wi-Fi 7 devices - two iPhone 16 Pro phones and an Asus Zenbook S 14). What I can't live with is reliability issues - particularly at this exorbitant price point. Bear in mind, the system is running the latest available firmware - which incidentally I had to manually download as the auto-update feature didn't offer it. The issue I'm having is this system randomly reboots for no discernable reason. It's been happening anywhere from 2 to 4 times per day - which is a disaster when working from home and suddenly your connection is gone for 3 to 5 minutes while the Orbi restarts itself. The router logs accessible via browser inexplicably start fresh after a reboot, so there is no way to go back to investigate what might have triggered the reboot. Super frustrating! A cursory search online indicates the Orbi 970 series suffers from overheating, which may well be the case as there is no internal cooling fan. However, given that it's January/February and I keep my home at 70F, and the router/satellites are in open spaces, this shouldn't be an issue. The Orbi 970 series is a complete disappointment, and I will be retuning it - for better or worse I'm going back to TP-Link, waiting for a Deco BE95 system to arrive.

Though this thing would be amazing and all it did was some headaches. The towers are HUGE!!! Ended up returnaing it as the cost outweighed any benefit it had….just way over priced! Ended up going with linksys mesh 7 for $799….getting pretty much rhe same performance for a 1/3 of the cost. Maybe with a few firmware updates it will be a better product….I dont want to be a beta tester. Also the fact that they make you pay for support is absurd.

    Not Great Experience with 970

I have had the prior 2 versions of the orbi mesh 3 node configuration. This is by far the worst that I have had. The 970 for $2k is a disappointment. I am an IT guy trying to resolve connection issues for 5 months. Connections drop across our house. As you move around our house, there is not seamless connection transfer across the nodes. I have had to reboot the router 3 times a day for weeks. The backbone is not consistent. I have place the router and satellites in the same positions and the previous generation and it is a step backwards, 10 steps backwards. The turning point on me leaving this review was was Netgears decision to make customer support so difficult. It took me 30 minutes to find the phone number to call for support questions. Awful. They don’t care about customer experience. I share to customer service that it may be a hardware issue and they didn’t care. Suggest I change the backbone channel. This is not Apple Support. It is Dollar Store Support.

I’ve been an Orbi fan for years. I’ve deployed them for small businesses. I had 2gb fiber line installed and wanted to upgrade to the 970’s for a while. I finally pulled the trigger and I am not disappointed. The speed is unbelievable. I get the most out of my devices and use the WiFi 7 for high end gaming. I highly recommend it especially for those of you that have internet speed over 1gb. Must have!!
