been using it for about a week and cleans pretty good. the app lets you control the amount of suction it uses and tells you what percentage your battery is. connectivity was easy and taking it apart to clean was pretty easy too, lets you open up multiple brushes to dust off as well as the filter itself

I bought this thing after I moved into a new apartment. This lil’ robot vacuum has changed the cleaning game in my house. First cleaning of my apartment was a huge success, he made it into every room and the battery life lasts long.

Just got my ION Robot less than a week. So far, I'm please. When I use the app to go back to dock it does quite work. The product spot cleans for me, so I'm pleased. Got it on sale too.

Two things to sell on this - after looking at a few months of history an data, we've determined we've saved at least 30 hours a month by running the Ion. Right there, value reached. Some other interesting points is that this is the same cost, if not cheaper than the rival Roomba iRobot model, except the feature set is explosive comparitively. I learned that there are "linear" robot vacuums and then what are referred to as "drunken sailors"...difference being one learns your home layout, the other wanders and makes no sense then just dies and splat. A great supporting smartphone app, troubleshooting instructions as soon as something happens, and all around great customer experience. Buy it and put cats in the room too. You deserve it for spending the money :)

I got this one in a deal and paid $199. For this price, this is an excellent product. It has larger bin and it is slimmer compared to other similar products. I tried it for a week and I was not able to track if it actually cleaned entire home most of the time. This one doesn’t have map that shows the area cleaned. I replaced it with Roomba 960 which is more systematic and the cleaned area can be tracked. This is a really good product, but I was looking for similar product with more tracking mechanism.

I’ve always wanted to get one of these robot vacuums, but the price has always been rather steep. This Shark ION Robot is among the lowest priced. With that, it’s not the “best” on the market, but for the price it gets the job done. With having pets in the house, this thing is even more useful as it can get fur and dander up while you sleep. It works great on hard floor and carpet and has had no issue transitioning between the two. The app controlled 750 model allows you to schedule a time per day, initiate clean and dock from your phone, from anywhere, once you have it connected to your home Wi-Fi. The app setup and connection is simple, however, be aware that the ION Robot only works on the 2.4 Ghz band and may require some network changes if you have a newer router that uses a single SSID for both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands if you don’t see it as an option when setting it up. The Shark ION Robot does have smart sensor navigation and is fun to watch it avoid some objects. It will avoid falling down stairs on its own and with the included magnetic strip you can force it to avoid other open areas as well. However, in tight spaces it will bump its way around till it finds an opening which can get its self stuck under the edge of furniture. Such in my case under the end table it would get stuck on the back edge of my couch sometimes. However, with the app it will provide a notification that it is stuck and you can locate the robot with an audible beep. This robot does not map your house out and does not appear to even understand the shape of a room. It will drive at an angle till it gets to an object and move to a new angle from there. This may result in some spots in a large area being missed, however, as I have a schedule set for every night, it eventually has covered the entire floor, to include under some tables I rarely get to myself. Every once in a while I will take it upstairs and force a clean by pressing the button, in which it will run for about an hour and cut itself off. On my main floor where the docking station is, it will return to the dock, bumping itself along till it gets in line of site with it, which can take a good while on its own. The Spot clean option will attempt to clean in a circular pattern, provided no walls are nearby. However, I attempted a spot clean on some dry dog food on a hard floor and the outside brushes pushed it around more than it looked like it picked up, making a nice clear circle with dog food all over the place around it. For the price it is worth it. This robot has saved me a lot of time and helped keep my house in a cleaner state than it usually is. It has also provided a little bit of entertainment watching the animals react to it.

The Shark Ion Robot 750 Vacuum is a well made machine that does a good job of sweeping both carpets and hard flooring. It senses walls and other obstacles and either avoids them completely or gently nudges them while cleaning. It sounds pretty quiet, kind of like a loud laptop; much more quiet than a traditional vacuum cleaner. Mine usually runs for about 30-40 minutes before it docks itself to recharge. Each time it has docked, the chamber that holds the dirt and debris has been full. If you are ocd, you may not like the random vacuum tracks that go this way and that, as opposed to straight, cohesive lines back and forth as you would do manually. I have no problem with it though, because the floors are clean and I didn't have to do it myself. That's a win in my book. It is programmable to automatically clean on a schedule and you can control it from your smart phone. It is gentle on hardwood floors too and can transition from hard floors to carpets with no problem. I didn't give it five stars because it doesn't have Alexa or Google Home connectivity as of yet. Also, I asked it to dock itself once and it didn't dock. I'm not sure why. It was easy enough to dock it myself though, so no big deal. I love this robot vacuum and would recommend it to others.

So you're looking for a robotic vacuum to add to your home. You have a lot of things to consider while shopping: price, size, run time, charge time, floor/carpet style, and many more aspects. So does the Shark ION Robot 750 fit the bill? Yes, but with some caveats. UNBOXING: The unboxing experience of the Shark ION was very pleasant and hassle-free. The instructions are printed very clearly on a large cardboard panel , and I had no issues getting set up with the ION. Snap the two brushes onto the bottom of the robot, and you're almost ready to go. Simply place the charging dock against a wall with 3 ft. clearance on the left and right, and 5 ft. clearance in front of the dock. This is crucial, as the robot finds the dock via some light sensors on the dock. USING THE ION: After a full charge of the robot (about 3 hours from 0% to full), you're ready to start the robot! There are several ways to get your ION to begin vacuuming. The first way is to press the "Clean" button on the robot, itself. Also on the vacuum is a power switch (which you can just leave on all the time), a "Dock" button to send the ION back to its dock (but it will do this by itself after it feels it is done cleaning), and a "Spot" button which you can use to have the ION clean a particular spot on the floor more thoroughly. APP INTEGRATION: The second way to use your ION is by using the Shark ION Robot app on the App Store / Play Store. This app will connect your robot to your local 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (NOTE: it cannot be 5GHz Wi-Fi—please temporarily disable your router's 5GHz channel if it uses the same SSID as your 2.4GHz channel; you can re-enable it after setup). Once your robot is connected to the Wi-Fi, you can use the app to remotely start up, pause, and dock the ION. Additionally, you are able to schedule a cleaning time for each day of the week. Unfortunately, you can only schedule 1 cleaning per day—this is a limitation likely imposed by the run time and charge time, as well as regulating the lifespan of the device, itself. If you happen to lose your ION around the house, you can also find it by pressing a button in the app which will cause the ION to make a loud noise. The app will also tell you the ION's status (cleaning, charging, paused, returning to dock), as well as its battery status. What's especially nice, however, is that the app can send push notifications whenever there's an issue with the ION—such as when the ION gets stuck somewhere and can no longer move or when there's a clog in the brushroll. VOICE ASSISTANT INTEGRATION: Additionally, you can use Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to send commands to your ION. I've personally tested this using Google Assistant. Once you have your ION connected to your Wi-Fi, you can simply open the Google Home app, then under the "Googel Assistant" section, go to "Explore" then search for "Shark". From there, you'll be able to link your Shark account with Google Assistant. Now you can use Google Assistant to say things like: "OK Google, tell Shark to start cleaning." "OK Google, tell Shark to pause my robot." "OK Google, tell Shark to send my robot to the dock." Just like the app, this feature works anytime, anywhere—not just at home. CLEANING ALGORITHM: So is the ION actually good at cleaning? Yes and no. It does a good job and is more thorough in smaller spaces (you can create boundaries using the included BotBoundary Strips), but if you let it try to clean an entire floor, it may not be as thorough. This is largely because the ION's path algorithm isn't as complex as more expensive robot vacuums, as it doesn't seem to map out your house. Instead, its cleaning path will differ each run so that it will attempt to clean areas that it did not cover the previous run. Obviously, this isn't as effective as mapping out the house and having complex object detection to further determine its position around the house. As a result, the cleaning path is somewhat random, so your carpet won't have a nice pattern of track marks—rather, it will seem obscure and random. Regardless, each run I am finding plenty of lint and dust being picked up by my ION. And by scheduling a daily cleaning, you'll ensure a more thorough clean. When a cleaning session begins, the ION runs for about one hour. Given that the charge time is about 3 hours, this means you could theoretically run a full 1-hour cleaning session approximately 6 times in a 24 hour period—now that's impressive, albeit not recommended. CLEANING PERFORMANCE: On my kitchen floors, the ION does a good job sweeping and picking up scraps (when it actually runs across the affected areas). My biggest concern with the ION was whether or not it'd be able to work with my carpet—and it definitely does! It easily transitions between my flat kitchen floor to my living room carpet without any issues. However, Shark warns that the ION may struggle with some high pile carpets. With its brushrull and both side brushes, the ION does a decent job at keeping my floor and carpets clean by taking care of loose debris. DOCKING ALGORITHM: This is one of the ION's weaker points. Because the ION doesn't really keep a mapping of its path, it takes longer to get back to its dock when compared to more advanced robot vacuums. From my own observations, the ION will typically navigate around until it detects the light sensors on the docking station. This means that if you have a more complicated layout or have objects or walls obstructing the view of the dock, the ION will take longer to return to the dock. That being said, as long as you set up the dock according to the included instructions, it shouldn't fail to find the dock. HOW SHARK COULD IMPROVE THE CLEANING/DOCKING ALGORITHM: As a software engineer, I can see many ways that Shark could have alleviated the performance/efficiency shortcomings. For one, they could create a rough route path every time the ION cleans. That way, it could avoid unnecessarily cleaning the same area multiple times, and when it needs to return to the dock, it could use the "shortest path algorithm" to more easily find its way back based on its waypoints. Another possiblity (that requires more expensive hardware) is that Shark could have used a radio wave connection to the dock and used signal strength detection to determine when it is getting closer or further away from the dock. Both of these suggestions certainly have limitations and other issues to consider, but when combined with the onboard sensors, either mechanism could improve the efficiency of the device. CONCLUSION: So, would I recommend the Shark ION 750 robotic vacuum? Yes. It's certainly not as efficient, powerful or as smart as other expensive vacuums, but for a robot vacuum in this price point, it delivers the right features and gets the job done while making acceptable compromises. After all, the purpose of having a robot vacuum is so we can avoid having to vacuum, ourselves. The Shark ION 750 definitely accomplishes that, as it runs daily while I'm away from home. When I get home, the ION is docked and out of the way, and my floors are cleaner than they were before I left for work. Unless you're at home while the ION is running, you kind of forget that it's even there—and that's a good thing. It's not something you'll be worrying about or be thinking about. It does its job and gets out of your way, leaving you to focus on things other than cleaning.

I dislike vacuuming but it’s a necessary evil as I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and carpeted living room. Pros: *Great everyday upkeep *1 hour of solid vacuuming *Easy to use phone app Cons: *Dump bins needs frequent emptying *Need to carefully layout house as the robot can get stuck easy *Odd carpet patterns from the random zig zag of the robot Both dogs and my human counterpart sheds like no other. Needing to vacuum every day is ideal but realistically, I get to it about once a week if that. Having the ability to program the robot to automatically vacuum on days I choose and when I choose is fantastic! I have mine currently vacuuming every day at 11:30pm. I envision that my carpets on my main floor be fully vacuumed before I start the new day. With that being said, it’s still a work in progress as I’m constantly finding new ways for my robot to get stuck. Once underneath the dinner table, a few times stuck between the rug and couch and another time wedged under the bar stool. I would say I only had 1 successful night out of 7 that the robot will start to clean and find its charging base when it’s done. I don’t fully blame the designers but do share the responsibility in pushing in all the chairs at the dinner table, using the “off boundary” strips to the kitchen, essentially “robot proofing” the main level. But as of late, I’ve come to expect the robot to find it stuck in a new spot that I didn’t foresee it getting stuck in. My fiancé and I have a running bet to see where the robot managed to get itself stuck again upon heading downstairs for breakfast. When the robot does make a complete 1 hour cleaning, I’m actually surprised how much the robot picked up in the dust bin. Even after vacuuming my carpets with a regular vacuum, the robot still ends up with a full bin at night. When it does run and you’re in the room, its not as loud as a full vacuum. I would guess its half as loud and not noticeable when we are upstairs sleeping. Dumping the bin is easy and no need to get your hands dirty when doing so. The robot isn’t completely dumb as it does have a bump sensor and some kind of proximity sensor to keep itself from running into a wall. It gets in trouble when its trying to navigate between chair legs, uneven surfaces where a rug is, etc. It appears to make a left turn every time the front bump sensor is triggered. And if its triggered 3 times in a very short period, it will turn right instead of left and repeat the process. The app is a nice feature instead of having a dedicated remote control for the robot. I open the app and I can have the robot to start cleaning, spot cleaning, dock if cleaning, see battery levels, and schedule future cleanings. You can also use the app to “ring” your robot so you can spot it underneath a bed or couch when it becomes stuck and turns off the suction. While the app may sound robust, it lacks a “progress” or cleaning maps that a competitor’s robot vacuum offers. I like the idea of programming a certain route for your robot to follow so you can have regular “back and forth” vacuum lines in the carpet. Right now, it looks like an abstract painting with the random paths the robot takes to vacuum an open space. This may bother some people including me as I tend to have OCD tendencies. I would recommend this robot vacuum for families that are too busy to be vacuuming every day. It doesn’t replace a real vacuum cleaner but it does a fantastic job at maintaining your carpets in between real vacuum cleanings.

We have all hardwood floors and have to regularly vacuum our floors. They get super dusty due to 2 kids and 2 dogs. When we saw an affordable robotic vac that uses an app we had to jump on it. We just got a shark stick vac and love it so we trust the brand. This ion vac is super easy to use out of the box. You snap on 2 brushes and put it to charge. Then you just hit the clean button. That's it! It ran around the house cleaning everything and getting out of jams. I thought I would need to pull it out from being wedged under my couch and TV console it somehow managed to get itself out. We were impressed. It is also very quiet. I thought my dogs would freak out, especially my dog with severe anxiety, but they didn't. I was impressed overall. Cleaning...it cleaned the floor way better than I thought it would. When it was done cleaning for the first time we walked around barefoot to see if we would get dirt on our feet, we didn't. It even cleaned our carpeted runner very well. We were very pleased with how it cleaned. I then installed the app and fought with my family for about half an hour when it asked me to name the vacuum. You can then set up a schedule or just let it run remotely. Now we clear the floors before we go out for extended periods and let it run via the app while we are away. I cannot set a schedule yet because our schedule changes every single day. Overall, we love it. It has made our lives so much easier as it keeps our floor clean before deep cleanings.

Shark is market leader in Upright vacuum and they entered into Robot vacuum market with Shark Ion Robot 750. It is my first robotic vacuum and a very good cleaning tool. Packing was excellent and setup is very easy with the instructions provided in the box. I have downloaded the Shark ION ROBOT app from App Store in my iPhone 7 plus and configured Ion Robot quickly to control remotely. The performance of this vacuum exceeded my expectations. Cleaning always painful as we were not able to reach many locations due to many furniture. ION Robot did a great job reaching out many places under the tables, SOFA and picked all debris without any issues. It has great suction power and excellent battery life. With single charge, it was able to clean my entire living room. The docking charging station takes minimum space and it can be placed anywhere. Battery life is around 40 mins in this model, i hope Shark will increase the battery capacity in future models. I really liked the feature of remote control which is great feature especially every house is moving towards home automation. Setup is extremely easy in app. Once connected, you can setup schedule cleanup and remotely access the device from anywhere. I am really impressed with its performance, cleaning, design and cost. I would highly recommend Shark ION Robot 750 to anyone without any hesitation.

    BEST PURCHASE EVER!

When I decided to purchase a robot vacuum, it was between the Roomba 650 and the Shark Ion Robot 750. I read lots of reviews and almost got the Roomba, but after speaking with the salesman she said that the Shark was more comparable to the higher grade Roombas. I am 100% satisfied. I read a review on the Roomba 650 that said it was loud and was made for hard floors than carpet. Although my house is all wood floors and tile, we have an area rug in our living room. I am beyond amazed at this robot! I clean my floors and vacuum as normal and still cannot believe the dust that the robot picks up!!! It always has a full pan which makes you realize just how dirty your floors get on a daily basis even right after cleaning. It was very easy to set up! I suggest this robot to anyone like myself looking for a reasonably priced robot that will get the job done. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs (our dogs do not shed) and it is so helpful for the down time in between my regular cleaning. PROS •cleans under beds •has 2 brushes vs roomba only having 2 •quiet •great suction •easy to work •comes with strips to prevent going into kids rooms when they are playing •easy to remove & clean dirt pan •easy to use app •goes to charging dock independently •keeps floors clean in between normal routine cleaning •great price when on sale •softly hits areas with bump guard CONS •gets stuck under my recliner at times I RECOMMEND THIS ROBOT TO EVERYONE!!!

This Shark Ion 750 Robot (App Controlled) Vacuum is pretty slick for what I call the quick vacuum run. This unit has a very easy setup. Plug in the docking station, set the robot on the docking station and download the app while you wait for the battery to fully charge. The app can control the robot or you can schedule a cleaning as often as once a day. I am amazed with how quiet this unit is. We are using this robot to vacuum our entire first floor, a kitchen, a dining room, a living room and an entry way. This will not take over the vacuuming, but will make it so I don't have to those spot cleanings when someone is stopping by. The debris collection area is not very big, so you will want to empty it after every cycle. The app does have an alert notification, it will notify you if it was obstructed in any way, but only in the background, so it won't wake you up in the middle of the night. I wish the notification would indicate if it ran successfully. The only way I knew it ran, was by the debris collection area having dirt in it. You do need to pay attention to wires or other small things that may cause the unit to hang up in the middle of its cleaning cycle. I really do think this is a no brainer if you looking for some cleaning to go on in the background during you crazy, busy life. I would recommend this to a friend.

I have owned Roombas for over 10 years. I have a total of 4 Roombas. I love that they can be fixed and worked on. They drive my husband crazy. We purchased a Samsung PowerBot last year and I fell in love with the additional suction. Plus it was not crazy. I purchased this robot because I liked the price. I was surprised to find that I like this version better than all my roombas and the powerbot. I like it so much I gave away my 3 oldest roombas. It is quiet, can find it's docking space, it does not get caught on EVERYTHING. The only downside is the bin fills up faster than I am used too. The battery life is amazing. From this point forward, I am a shark customer. I should mention I have a large dog, 2 hairy cats, and a 3 year old. I need and abuse robot vacuums because well.... my floors cannot stay clean without constant suction. The shark does the job better than the other two brands.

My other name brand robot vacuum died less than 2 years into owning it, yet conveniently outside of the manufacturer warranty. A quick search online revealed that the model I had was prone to defects rendering them junk. I've had good luck with Shark vacuums in the past and thought I'd give this guy a try. First off - you get bonus points if you offer Alexa integration. This thing has a skill to enable you to control the Shark 750 with Alexa. Simply say, "Alexa, tell Shark to start cleaning" and the little guy fires right up and starts cleaning away. I tested it out today asking Shark to start cleaning as I walked out of the door for work. When I got home tonight, the floor was clean and the Shark was charging on it's base station. A quick check of the dust bin confirmed that it had been running today. Second, the remote App for controlling the Shark isn't a true-remote control. You can issue commands, like "Clean, Charge, etc". The cool part of the App is using it to set a schedule. This enables me to literally set it and forget it. The Shark will fire off and start cleaning based on a set schedule which is great. From a cleaning perspective, the 750 offers a twin brush design, compared to my old name brand one that was a single brush design. Compared to my old one, this thing is whisper quiet. DOn't get me wrong, you can certainly tell it's running, but it's not as loud as the one it replaced. The 750 also comes with a tape that you can put down to establish cleaning boundaries. This is helpful if you have areas that are too often cluttered with cords, small toys, etc that you want the Shark 750 to avoid. While it's not as elegant as the radio node that my older one had, the fact that it works out weighs the minor site of a tape on the floor. I'm very happy we picked this up - it's another quality product from Shark, just like I've come to expect!

The current crop of "Robot" home vacuums do not have "intelligence" as much as they have 'logic". That is to say that their logic simply says, "Go roughly straight until you come very close to something and then turn 93 degrees left some of the time and 93 degrees right some of the time and 185 degrees if that doesn't seem to be working and home in on your charge station's radio signal when your battery drops low enough. This logic results in a maddeningly inefficient (if you watch it) pattern that eventually results in most of the debris being picked up. I look forward to the day when these machines actually look with cameras at the floor layout and dirt and make an efficient ordered once-over cleaning of each section. However, that's the future. Today, the Shark ION Robot is at the top of its class. I thought my floors were clean enough to let the Shark make 3 or 4 of its 40 minute excursions before emptying the dust hopper, but as you can see from the picture of my Shark's overfilled dust bin, I was wrong. I suspect the surprising amount of dirt picked up was because of the Shark's ability to scurry under beds, tables and chairs during its apparently aimless maneuvers. I say "aimless" but the designers got the simple logic programming right as the results speak for themselves. The Shark Robot is not necessarily the answer for lazy humans. Unless your home closely resembles an empty basketball court, you are going to have to do some Robot "childproofing" of your floor layout. Rather than trying to anticipate every problem area, I just let it run several times and watched where it had trouble. When it got trapped in the rats-nest of wires under my computer desk, I just laid down a section of the included magnetic strip that did not allow the Shark to cross into that area again. Another problem spot was a dining room chair next to a wall. Another strip took care of that. Now my Shark does it's rounds of the laundry room, the kitchen, the dining room, two bedrooms and a bathroom without getting stuck and then returns to it's charger flawlessly at the end of each session. I used the free phone app to schedule it to run while we're away at work and all I have to do is remember to check and empty the dust bin. Now if only it would clean out the cat's litterbox!

The shark ion robot, its like having a maid who works for free. In a market that has some pretty big leading competitors that have been in the game of robotic cleaning for some time, Shark has introduced its newest member of the family and aims to hold no punches. The Shark Ion 750 is a robotic vacuum cleaner that is able to be controlled both manually and through Shark's app available to both android and iOS users. It comes equipped with two front brushes, a tangle free/self cleaning roller. The smart sense technology is supposed to allow the bot to easily maneuver around obstacles and along walls all via a front built optical sensor which serves as its forward eyes. It is also equipped with two undercarriage optical sensor which prevent the bot from walking itself over ledges and falling down a flight of stairs. The undercarriage sensors also help in detecting when the Ion 750 stuck or in distress. So before we talk about the specifics and if this is a worthy buy lets talk about what you get out of the box. Out of the box you are going to receive the Ion 750, a charging dock, power cord, cleaning brush, one air filter and a 9 ft. boundary strip. The first thing i did was took out the waste bin to see how big it was and how much waste it can hold. As seen in the photo provided the bin is an average size bin cable of handling one room at a time. Not the biggest bin i have seen on a robotic cleaner but not the smallest by any means. If you own an average size house with only one or two pets then you should be ok. My biggest concern at the time with this waste bin was how fast it was going to fill up seeing as how i have a long haired cat and a short haired dog. Surprisingly it did not fill up as quickly as i thought but i would have to empty the bin after each room. Now the Shark Ion is able to be controlled by an app and based on what i see if you want to set up a cleaning schedule that needs to be done through the app and can not be accomplished manually from what i can tell. Setting up the app was very frustrating to say the least, i knew i was going to run into some issues when at first sight i saw only a 1 star review with multiple complaints regarding the app and set up. To set up the app function you need to first download Shark's mobile app, have a good wifi signal and link the two together via a step by step process done through the app. The main issue i had when trying to set up the app is every time the app would search for my wifi signal to connect the two together it would keep dropping my wifi signal. I knew this was issue on the app side seeing as how i tested my connection and wifi signal both passed with flying colors. This went on for about 15 minutes of me trying to link the two together and receiving the same "wifi signal not found" message. I was about to give up and call tech support when on my last try it finally made connection. Once it made connection the rest of the steps went quickly and the app function worked flawlessly after. Once connected to the app you can name your robot, tell him to clean, spot clean, or dock. You can also set up cleaning schedules and order replacement parts via Shark's website. Once you can get the app to work it is actually a very cool feature. I was able to command my shark ion to clean my basement via the app from work 20 miles away. And yes it does work, i had my wife verify this while i was at work. While on the app i can see current battery level and what the ion 750 is doing. It will giving me his current status. For example cleaning, charging and even distress signals ( i.e. "your robot is stuck"). If your cleaning robot gets stuck for any reason it will automatically shut it down and send you a message via the app. This is a pretty nice feature to have however i would of liked to have the option for the app to send me push notifications in the event of it getting stuck. What this means is the only way for you to know if there is an issue is for you to get on the app and check its status. Lets talk about just how good it cleans and how much it can actually detects. The Ion 750 is not much different than most other models out there in the way of obstacle detection. It easily detects drop offs and stepped transitions and has no issue climbing small raised obstacles such as floor mats, area rugs and even mold trim. What it does struggle to detect is small obstacles such as socks, power cables and small foot wear (sandles, flip flops, etc.). The first night i used it, it could not detect my wifes sandles. It ran completely over it and got itself stuck. Luckily it detected there was an issue and shut itself off within a few seconds and sent me a message to my app. I felt the ion 750 had a pretty good safety system built in so i went up stairs, had dinner and watched a bit of T.V. while it cleaned down in the basement. About 45mins later i go down stairs to check on it seeing as how i had gotten no distress messages and i find the little robot still cleaning while dragging my cellphone cable around as if it grew a tail. Apparently it had ran over my charging cable and sucked it in to the main roller. It tangled itself around the roller but not enough to stop it from moving and not enough to send me an distress message. I realized this was going to be the most important obstacle to make sure it avoided and thats where the 9 ft. provided boundary tape came in handy. The robot is very handy at maneuvering around larger obstacles such as dressers and chairs, so for the smaller more important ones such as wires and cables i taped those areas off with the boundary tape. Its simply a magnetic strip that you place on the ground, it is not taped to the ground or nailed, it just simply lays down flat which can then be easily moved and picked up. I grabbed the robot pointing it towards the strip to see if it would work. As it drew near and approached the strip it refused to cross it and would immediately turn the other way. Problem solved! The two side brushes and main roller do a fairly good job at cleaning up. As said earlier i have two pets and the ion 750 has no issue pulling hair from the carpet or hardwood floors. Now the Shark claims a tangle free roller and from what i see that does seem to be true. The two brushes are a different story. The two side brushes get tangled very easily with any kind of hair rather it be pet or human. I would have to untangle them after each cleaning job (as seen in the provided picture). The ion 750 will also dock on its own when the battery gets low, however i noticed that it would dock as soon as it dropped down to two bars. Seeing as how a full charge is 3 bars this would give me about 1 hour of cleaning time before it tried to return home. Yes you could command it to clean again even if it only had 2 bars but still this was kind of annoying. Docking was not a problem either. I purposely placed its docking station tightly in between two pieces of furniture to test its ability to find home properly. Each and every single time it docked with ease and never once got stuck. I was impressed to say the least. Here is the bottom line, its a robotic vacuum cleaner that does have its flaws. Keep in mind that no robotic cleaner out there is completely flawless or so smart that can detect every single key obstacle that poses a main threat. With that in mind the main flaw that really had me taken back and prevented me from giving this five stars is the annoying flawed start up on the app. All in all this is still a good product that comes from a big name leader that has established itself in the upright vacuum market. This robotic vacuum cleaner shows quality in the build and its ability to detect most obstacles and make its way home. Overall i am impressed with what i saw. If you have many long haired pets you may want to rethink buying this as constant emptying of the bin may become a nuisance Pros: -Status alerts -Schedule cleaning -Auto home function -Provided boundary strips -Ability to deep clean Cons: -Frustrating app set up -easily tangled front brushes -Auto docks at only 2 bars .
