Upgraded from the 2023 TCL 85QM850G to the 2024 TCL 98QM851G and am surprised at the significant perceived size difference. I did want to check out the Hisense 98UX but had a great experience with last year's 85" QM8 so I took the plunge. After a little tweaking in the settings, the picture quality and brightness is incredible and I don't regret the purchase one bit! If you're on the fence and have room for it (I'm sitting 11-12 feet from the screen and could sit comfortably closer) I would not wait. The free installation was professional and went perfectly. Obviously the tv isn't perfect, but if size, picture quality, and price matter, this is THE 98" TV in 2024. I didn't check the tv sound quality as I use a surround sound system as most who buy this tv will, so I just gave it 3 stars for sound.

just a great picture really bright and vivid its big but it dosent overwhelm the room hard to beat this set price and quality just the best i love it and i changed from a oled to this mini led 5000 zones so no blooming and very black where it needs to be also right now the price is great

I recently purchased the TCL 98" QM8 from Best Buy, and it has exceeded all my expectations! The picture quality is phenomenal—vibrant and clear. I was a bit nervous because the room we put it in is very bright, but it really holds up. The built-in Google operating system is a fantastic upgrade from the Google Chromecast I used on my Samsung TV. I was torn between the TCL and the Samsung 98 QN90. I’ve always had Samsung TVs, but I did my homework. The two things that sold me were TCL’s specs on contrast ratio (probably not calling it the right thing), but basically, its a better picture for those shows with dark scenes and it has more local dimming zones, which are supposed to give you better overall picture quality. But what really sold me was the price. It was almost half the price of the Samsung model. I decided to take a chance on TCL and am glad I did. I was also concerned about the size since our room is only 13’x15’. My husband assured me it would work (of course), and he was right—it’s big, but not overwhelming. The buying experience at Best Buy was seamless, and the Geek Squad installation service was exceptional. They communicated well, were clean, and completed the setup quickly. I can’t wait to watch the Yellowstone season 5 finale on this incredible TV. I highly recommend this TV!

I just got my TV installed and it is incredible! I was nervous, and the Best Buy salesperson was really helpful- he told me I needed a mini-LED tv because it is so big, which made this tv the obvious choice. As soon as the tv was installed, all my worries about size and picture quality were erased- I LOVE it! Some friends came over today to watch football, and they all commented how great it was. They all wanted to know how I convinced my wife to let me buy it. FYI- she loves it too. If you are considering a 98” tv, this is the one to buy!

THIS IS THE BEST BANG FOR $!! I spent more time reading reviews on TVs and projectors and watching YouTube videos than I would like to admit. I had a 4K Epson projection in my last house, so I was leaning toward projection again. I decided to do a TV for ease of installation and brightness. I didn't even notice it being smaller than my 120", and the picture is stellar. No lag, no blooming, processer is super fast. 1000% recommend

Would never have expected this, My TCL is side by side with my 75 ich Sony to my surprise TCL is out performing Sony by a landslide in a very well lite room. Im in love with my 98 inch tv hands down the best picture i have seen in a home.

I was hesitant to order from best buy after a previous bad experience but amazon had already smashed 3 of these tvs that were supposed to be here way before Thanksgiving. I decided to give best buy one more chance and I am glad I did. The tv arrived strapped to a pallet in pristine condition. The 2 delivery drivers were very friendly and helpful. I unboxed the tv in my garage while they were still there to verify the tv was not broken and powered on just fine. I was a die hard samsung fan until i got this setup and dialed in. I am sold on tcl tvs now. This thing is easily 5 times as bright as my samsung q90b was and the detail in 4k @ 120hz is unbelievable. I highly recommended getting one of these if you have the space and the funds to do so.

I just want to start by saying i have owned and only purshased Samsung TVs my entire life. After having a 85” TV for a few years now, I thought it was time to upgrade to something bigger. After hours and hours of research I came across this 98” TCL. I was in the fence because I never had this brand before, but after seeing it in person I was blown away! It does not get better than this. Picture quality, color and brightness are out of these world, and yes, you can get a samsung that can do the same, but be prepare to pay triple the price! Overall very satisfied with my purchas, i think you will be too. Just make sure you get this QM8 model, which is the top dog in this 98” line up!!

Purchased the TCL 98QM8 to upgrade from our previous set and have to say, this is an incredible TV! Picture is great, tested with movies, sports, and multiple different sources (online and HDMI). Image is crisp, clear, and works really well when the room is full of natural light and in dark setting. Don't take the geek squad's recommendation on settings, the canned settings (Movie, Sports, etc.) were way better than what the GS had recommended. We were worried about going this big (previous TV was only 55"), but we're quickly adjusting and loving this set! OS is great, navigation is smooth and intuitive, and good volume directly from the TV itself. Would absolutely recommend this TV to others.

Best 98" premium television on the market. Was a die hard Samsung customer until I bought this 98"TCL. Absolutely loving it!!

When watching direct the picture is stunning, vibrid, deep blacks, but if you sit more than a few defrees off center the picture is horrible also if you are a bit low from center (laying down or reclining) the picture is washed our and has steange blobs for higjlights in hdr.

This tv is Massive regular tv shows and local News dont look good on this tv. It magnifies all imperfections. If you watch mostly stuff on Apps the picture is amazing. If you feed this TV with 4K HDR content its amazing but it will make regular tv channels look bad. Im a serious Halo video gamer and this tv is awesome for gaming no lag in dolby game mode and apple tv dolby is amazing.Luckily i dont watch much regular channels except football and it does look great on ESPN HD channel. Only Con it Will Magnify any low resolution image.this has more to do with the size and not the model
