Great to extend a network signal

Using it as an Access Point (AP) gives it better performance than a simple Range Extender (RE). No need to try and boost a weak signal to begin with. We have Cat-6 throughout our home, so running this AC1750 from one of our network ports as an AP extends a Wi-Fi signal that our Verizon Wi-Fi 6 router cannot accomplish. We use this TP-Link-AC1750 (RE450) in the basement and a TP-Link-AC2600 (RE650) also as an RE on the 2nd Floor.

As good as it was reviewed. Only issue I had was yard and garage. 17,500 square foot yard is now almost completely covered and the detached garage has a signal. Read the instructions and setup is fast and easy if you have a modern router they will find each other with two button pushes. I just purchased a new wifi modem and it didn't connect to the 5G the first time but now it is right as rain.

The TP Link WiFi extender does a good job at extending WiFi coverage. I put it in the mud room to extend coverage to the security camera on the garage, and I no longer have interruptions in recordings. I give this product 3 stars because of the size and price of the product and difficult setup. The product is about the size (height and width) of two hands together. It also has a bright blue light that you can’t turn off. It’s somewhat of a good thing if you want to use it as a night light.

Amazing Range Extender – Now I’m Getting The Speed

    Posted .

Long time users of the internet can remember modems and dialup. I had two phone lines so I wouldn’t tie up the main phone line. I then progressed to DSL and finally cable. The instant internet connections were glorious – and then came WiFi. I thought I was in heaven! However, there was one problem. My house is long and the cable came in at one end of the house and that’s where my router was located. I had great coverage at that end of the house but was a little spotty in the other end. I have an Airport Extreme base station and was very happy with it. I had tried other range extenders, but they seemed to slow down my connection and they proved to not be very reliable. So when I had the chance to try the TP-Link AC1750 RE450 Range Extender, I was expecting to be disappointed as I was with the other range extenders. Boy was I surprised! The first thing you notice about the AC1750 is it size. It’s not small. The electrical plug is at the bottom of the unit and covers most of the other plug in your electrical outlet. This is a small price to pay for the performance – more on that in a bit. It is 6.5 inches long and 8 inches with the middle antenna extended. It is 1.5 inches deep and 3 inches wide but 5.5 inches wide with both side antennas flipped up. Once you plug it in, a blue LED power light lets you know that it is ready to go. The quick instruction guide follows you through the set up. There are two options – using a web browser and using WPS. I used the web browser. In your Wi-Fi settings you will select TP-LINK_Extender_2.4GHz and then go to your web browser of choice and enter http://tplinkrepeater.net. Use admin for both the username and password. You will be prompted to change both of these and then you will be guided through the rest of the setup process. I selected to keep the existing SSID and to have both the 2.4GHz and 5 GHz networks show as one. When the settings are to your liking, the extender will reboot and you will set the 2.4GHz and 5GHz light lit up. The large circular button will have a blue ring around it if your extender is in a good location (at least halfway between the router and your dead zone) and red if it is too far away. Now for the real test. Did it help my dead spot and increase my speeds? I know that the 2.4 GHz band can travel farther, but the 5 GHz is better because it can transfer larger amounts of data and is less congested. I used a Wi-Fi app to test the coverage on my Mac. The results are shown in the pictures. I was in the middle of my house and could barely see the 5 GHz band before the extender, but after I was not only seeing it there but everywhere in my house! I recently upgraded to a 30 Mbps internet plan and was only getting that in the bedroom above where my router was located. As you can see in the picture, I was not getting the speed I was paying for. This picture was taken at the complete opposite end of the house! I went from 15 Mbps to 34 Mbps. There is also an Gigabit port if you want to run an Ethernet cable to it. I can not sing the praises of this range extender enough. With all the streaming and downloading that is being done in my home, the increased speeds and coverage is amazing. If there are any problems, it comes with a two year warranty and 24/7 technical support. It says on the box it will work with any W-Fi router. It played very nicely with my Apple Airport Extreme. I’m sure that it you get this extender you will not be disappointed!! (This is a review of a free product received by TP-LINK as part of the review program.)

Over the years I have purchased numerous range extenders and they are all sitting in a drawer gathering dust because they didn't work. Most were difficult to set up and would drop connection and require rebooting constantly. This item works! Setup was a non-event. I pushed a button on my Fios Quantum Router and a button on this unit, watched the lights flash for a few moments, and the setup was done. Not only that, but the unit has not had a hiccup once since being placed into service. It has extended my wifi to the far regions of my home giving acceptable speed and a seamless connection. Also, unlike the comment made by one of the other reviewers, I still had the use of the second plug on my standard 2 plug outlet. I highly recommend this TP-link range extender.

This is extremely easy to set up and use. My only complaint is it won't always switch off the extender back to the original router. It always will switch when I am closer to the original router. I have one distant room that comes in better on the original router, but it always stays on the extender. The only other downfall is it is much larger then other extenders I have seen. It is so big, it limited where I could plug it in. Otherwise, I LOVE it.

Not that Ai savvy, but this one very easy to install and connect to my Wi-Fi and works well. I had some weak spots in my house and didn't want to spend a arm or leg. And this was very affordable

This thing was a little temperamental at first. My master is on the edge of my property and has been a complete dead zone, which during quarantine with an Amazon fire TV was not a super combination. Positioning this both in the bedroom or at the outlet immediately outside of the bedroom did not provide consistent service. Once I played around with it a little bit I got a lot more consistent signal. From time to time my iPad still has a hard time picking up the signal but every other device in my room seems to recognize it. All in all it’s pretty great value once you figure out the best place to put it.

I use to have a Linksys wifi extender that i had to manage online. This device with TP-Link is compatible with the Tether App. It makes it soo much easier managing it like getting the device connected to your wifi router, seeing whats connected to the device, channels, and soo much more. I love the convenience. If you have a hard time connecting to 5ghz, be sure to go to the settings on the original wifi router and change the channel to 36 or 42. It’ll connect for sure afterwards

Extended my network range all over my house

I love this extender. I have a TP-Link AX3000 router and this extender was simple to integrate. I use the TP-Link Tether app to install and manage the network including this extender. I have a very smart house with over 40 connected devices. I let the extender do the work. I setup the 2.4 and 5.0 ssid with the same name. So when I'm adding a new device, the network knows how to determine the correct connection (router or extender and 2.4 or 5.0) to balance the traffic. I have a large one story home and previous to adding this extender, we would periodically get device not active messages. I think my network was too crowded. Now we never get this message. This extender also solved the problem of going thru the exterior walls to get to the devices in my yard. I'm not really a techie. But it didn't take much understanding to get this extender installed and integrated into my network.

    Instantly Resolved My Connectivity Issues

I live in a brick apartment building and the standard internet carrier- grade router did not have enough horse power to reach all corners of my apartment. This range extender resolved the issues of dead spots with low connectivity. The signal strength is noticeably stronger. I have two to four devices connected simultaneously (apple TV, laptop, two iphones). For more devices I would recommend the higher grade of the same model which has wifi MIMO (multiple input - multiple output) functionality. Think of it as a multi lane highway beaming the signals parallel across multiple lanes.

I bought this because there is a dead spot in one of my rooms and needed a wifi extender. After doing research I decided upon this one. The set up was fairly easy but I did have trouble getting the extender to recognize the 5hz signal from my router. As it turns out, it appears to the the fault of my router. So I had to set that part up manually with the app. THe performance has been great. That dead spot is gone and it is as fast as other areas of my house. A great product with an easy to use app.

The unit is very well priced given it's feature set considering the competition. It definitely helps with dodgy wi-fi on that side of my home but I don't know I might need another one still. I don't think it's the fault of this signal enhancer but more the original modem signal.
