I originally purchased the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) for $400 as I was excited to try it after reading such raving reviews about how awesome it sounded. Long story short it was a beautiful soundbar with underwhelming sound…and it requires internet connection and is always on which I don’t like. I quickly returned it. In to the Vizio..I wasn’t super excited as I had no experience with Vizio and considered it a budget brand which normally isn’t great but not bad. Boy was I wrong about this. You’re getting superior quality sound, the build quality is great, the setup is easy, the customization settings are a huge plus whether I’m watching YouTube,Blu Ray movies on my PS5 or TV shows I can customize it to my needs. The sound is GREAT and increasing the dialogue in Media was my biggest want as it’s always so quiet while action sequences are explosive and I hated that problem at night. This Soundbar remedies that, and then some. The Bass is booming and can be adjusted it sounds so good. The little side speakers that you can place behind you or next to the main soundbar sound great and add depth. Sound has overall height (that can be adjusted too) depth, clarity, and quality. I would have been much happier spending $400 for this over the Sonos Beam. Luckily it’s not just better, but it’s far cheaper which puts a big smile on my face as I’m not just saving money, but buying a superior sound system for my living room. I knew I was keeping this one immediately and the raving reviews are on point with this sound bar. I even tried it at BestBuy in person in their soundbar demo section and liked the sound over any of the other units they had on display. Absolutely recommend. I’m no sound engineer but I can’t imagine spending hundreds more will get you that much better sound. This exceeded my expectations and I am thrilled to use it daily. Highly recommend.

The sound bar itself is pretty good, but it came without a remote, power cables, and audio cables for the rear speakers (My rating only considers my experience with the product and not my grievances with best buy). Granted I did buy it open box, but it was open box excellent and excellent condition is expected to include all original parts.
The surround sound is solid, so is the bass. The best you can get in a sub $500 soundbar. The atmos experience is a bit lacking due to no up-firing drivers in the rear speakers but is still a nice experience and definitely deserves the atmos tag. There is only one thing that really needs to be said: for the price this soundbar is the best option available if you care about surround sound and atmos.

So far, I have almost exclusively used this system for video/theater. It replaces an older Vizio 5.1 soundbar (SB4051-C0). Unfortunately, I don't have any high end Atmos soundbars to compare this to. I purchased an LG SP9YA before this, but the app and wifi setup was a nightmare for me (it was necessary for full control), so I returned it before I got a real feel for it.
With that said, I would find it hard to believe that any Atmos soundbar can truly mimic height/side affects anywhere near as well as overhead and side speakers can by just bouncing sound off of the ceiling and walls. And with the shape of the room I'm using this in, side-firing speakers wouldn't be useful anyway. What this soundbar does do is make the soundstage much more vertical in front. This makes for a much more believable surround experience overall. It has a balanced sound, is very adjustable, and is simple to set up. It is also light enough to mount underneath my wall-mounted television (this required a kit that accommodates bottom-mount soundbars). That was important to me because I swivel this TV to watch from different areas of this room. You just need to make sure that you mount it in such a way as to not block the upward-firing speakers.
Overall, this is just an excellent sounding system. There aren't many (any?) other true 5.1.2 soundbars in the price range. At its price, you will definitely get your money's worth. The ultimate question, and the one I wrestled with (I gave an open-box Elevate and a couple of other options serious consideration) is whether spending twice as much....or more...is worth it from an Atmos, size, and power standpoint. I'm in a condo, so the Vizio is more than enough. If you need a system for a house with a larger room, it might be worth going with something else.

I love my new Vizio sound bar! I paid $402, including the 4-year geek squad protection, after using $90 in reward certificates. It has paired extremely well with my LG C1. I love that it comes with the subwoofer and 2 (wired) satellite speakers to really emphasize the rumble of the bass - it really feels like you're in a movie theater!
Living in an apartment, I am unable to blast the sound, but it can get extremely loud if you want it to. I had to get creative and buy a MARTY brand 42" dual monitor stand to prop up my tv since the sound bar cuts off the bottom of the screen.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase.
I would recommend the Vizio m512a-h6 to anyone looking to upgrade their sound quality!!

I wanted a system that could sort of rival the living setup so I could stop fighting with my family for the living room tv. I use it in my bedroom which 14’9” x 11’5” and the tv and speakers are at opposite ends. The subwoofer is wireless and the rear speakers plug to it with a generously long cord but it is proprietary so you would have to go through Vizio if you need any replacements which is kind of a bummer. There is an HDMI replacement for the eArc port on your tv but it would’ve been nice if there was at least two more ports but that’s cool.
Sound is really great been watching a lot of Atmos movies to test the height effects and sort of convincing especially for being a soundbar, was very impressed with how “dune” sounded and “blade runner” and my test for any sound system “mad max fury road”. (My ceilings are 10ft or so) Standard 5.1 content also sounds great. I think this system would really thrive in a small to medium living room area but not so much in a large open space. The Nintendo Switch is the only thing I had an issue with having it plugged straight into my tv didn’t allow for 5.1 but plugging it straight into the bar fixed that. There are a ton of eq presets like night time viewing which helped to eliminate the complaints from my siblings and my room is sandwiched in the middle of the two.
Music sounds decent but I almost use it exclusively for tv so I can’t really speak on that.
TLDR really impressive system for the price. This thing goes on sale all the time which is when I bought it at $329 after searching for months and going through 3 systems this is the best soundbar is the best sub $500 Atmos system you can find.

I have been very pleased with this soundbar setup. The biggest thing is to make sure and update the unit prior to passing judgement. Once updated many of the issues go away. The eArc passthrough and link to TV is completely fixed on my LG C9 after the latest patch on Vizio's support site. This soundbar has booming bass, very clear dialogue, and excellent clarity on the surround speakers. Tuning of the levels is a necessity in my opinion and can easily be done on the remote. The one disappointment for me is the DTS: X and Atmos effects while they do add height to the audio I don't quite hear them bounce off of the ceiling down to the couch. Either way for the money this is an excellent sound bar that you will love especially for the money.

Impressive sound quality with a noteworthy Atmos feature. I initially opted for the LG 5.1.2 Atmos soundbar to complement my new LG OLED TV, but found the sound quality to be quite underwhelming, especially considering its price. Having previously enjoyed Vizio soundbars, I decided to give one a try for comparison, and the Vizio soundbar easily outperformed the LG competition. After a quick calibration and an Atmos movie test, I swiftly returned the LG soundbar. The Vizio soundbar delivers crisp highs and respectable lows for its category. Needless to say, I decided to keep it, and I couldn't be happier. Vizio's experience in the soundbar industry clearly shines through in this impressive product.

I was very happy with my VIZIO-5.1.2 Channel M-Series Premium Sound Bar with Wireless Sub-Woofer and Satellite Speakers or Surround Sound Speakers! It is very clear and easy to understand the Dialog while watching a movie! It sounds great playing music through the Soundbar from my many other Devices including my Cellphone and it connects so easy to any device via Bluetooth! It actually sounds better that the Samsung Sound Bar Comparable to this one! I was very Impressed! Set up was so easy! It pretty much sets up on its own!

I really enjoy the sound quality from this set up. Affordable and has nice features such as being dolby atmos compatible. I have had issues with 2 separate subwoofer units though. The first arrived unable to power on, and the second stopped receiving power after 6 months. The subwoofer supplies power to the R/L rear speakers also so this left me with only the front 2 channels working. It’s great when it all functions properly.

Brought this to pair with my 65” 4K tv that has Dolby vision and HDR. Have to say wow it really makes the movies come to life. Makes my living room sound like a theater when plugged in eARC slot on my tv. The upfiring speakers really make it sound like sound is coming from over head. Just incredible. Pair it with a tv that has Dolby vision and it just syncs so well together. Love how the subwoofer is already synced to the sound bar and just plug into the well. The satellite speakers hook directly to the subwoofer. I have my sub behind us and can feel the bass very well. Looks great and is durable. Worth every penny.

I like the Vizio M512a-H6, (although I have not tested the Atmos feature). I've almost never gone above half volume, so this thing can get plenty loud. You may want to adjust settings because the base/sub, and satellites are very mild and "natural" vs. quite noticeably present like previous Surround Sound systems I've owned. Paired with a Vizio tv, the soundbar integrates without any fuss. The remote w/ info screen is incredibly handy.
I could have just gotten unlucky, but the unit I received, while sold as new, had obviously been opened and part of the metal screen mesh had been slightly bent. Only a minor cosmetic flaw, but does make me question the handling of Best Buy shipped-to-store orders.

Sounds as good as systems that cost 3 times as much at least. Shocking how good it is for the price compared to other systems. You have the sub and two rear surrounds so you real get real surround sound. Great bass, great soundstage, and dialogue is incredibly clear. One of the best things is your ability to control the levels and balance of each part of the system. Really came in handy when i could only hear the right surround 90% of the time when playing movies. Being able to change the levels allowed me to correct that. Is it true dobly atmos? No. But with that added it does give a bigger and broader soundstage then other systems. Just sounds better with it, maybe more crisp. All in all it was a great buy.

I felt it was time to replace my 13 year old 50" DLP TV and 5.1 sound system of the same vintage. The Vizio 512a-H6 tuned out to be an easy and good replacement for the old Panasonic surround system. I decided to use the same hangers from the ceiling and antenna wire that I had previously used, to connect the new surrounds to the subwoofer instead of using the cables Vizio supplied. I placed the subwoofer near where the old A/V receiver was. I needed a couple of packages of easily available RCA plugs with speaker wire attached to splice into the existing speaker wire.
I completed the setup by attaching an HDMI cable between the eARC ports on the soundbar and TV. eARC causes the the soundbar to turn on when the TV is turned on but you can turn the soundbar off with the remote if you want to listen with headphones or TV speakers. The sound is quite quite rich and easily fills out my 13x13 listening room. I put the settings for the speakers in the middle of their range. I have kept Virtual:X always on since it enhances any non Atmos sound with sound coming out of the height speakers bouncing off the ceiling. Spotify also sounds great on this system after you pair your smart phone with it. I don't believe there is better Black Friday surround sound purchase for my usage.

Very good and quality soundbar with 5.1.2 Dolby atmos surround sound under $400 price. Sound quality is premium in small spaces like bedroom or small media rooms. I have connected it to my projector with HDMI eARC and can experience atmos experience in very good standards. I would recommend it for small to medium spaces for sound lovers.

I love this surround sound. I live in a one bedroom apartment and it's perfect in my family room. It's easy to set up and user friendly. It's sleek and looks nice with my setup. Great sound and bass. Very clear vocals
There's lots of customization with the settings according to what you're watching. It does take a little bit to customize the settings to fit your room (I didn't love the set up at first, until I messed around with the settings)
The two satellite speakers are great mounted, and come with two really long cords that plug into the bluetooth subwoofer so you can put them in both far corners of your room (shown in second pic, I covered the cables up with white gaffer tape to hide them)
The soundbar has two HDMI ports which is nice since the HDMI plug in is the best way to use the soundbar
Connects quickly and stays connected to tv.
Regular TV remote can control volume, but it does come with a remote
Comes with hardware to mount the soundbar and the two satellite speakers.
Subwoofer doesn't have any mesh-like material on it (aka your cats won't want to scratch on it)

Purchased this Vizio soundbar with apprehension- being convinced that it will not sound as good as a multi speaker setup. This particular model has rear satellite speakers which connect to the subwoofer which in turn is wirelessly connected to the soundbar. Setup couldnt be any easier. Having a couple more speakers to the mix really gives u an immersive almost true surround experience. A wonderful 3D sound experience for the price. This retailed originally for $600 but got it for $350. It was a bit over my budget but I’m grateful for the Vizio purchase. At high volumes, the midrange can get a little sharp but can be fixed with some equalizer adjustments. This is in a small room, I’m not sure how it wld fare in a larger one. So far I’m very satisfied with my soundbar.

This is a incredible system, and delivers big bang for your buck! Vizio has this soundbar system tuned in nicely. Dolby Atmos sounds incredible.
