Simple set up, I own a Vizio TV so once I hooked everything up I figured out my TV remote automatically paired with the sound bar and works perfect. I like the fact that the rear speakers hook up to the sub which gives some flexibility for rear placement. I personally used my own wires that are ran through the attic to hook up rear speakers instead of the ones that came with them. Overall it sounds really good, way better than TV speakers. So far mine sits In front of the TV, im thinking about wall hanging TV and mounting speaker below but not sure yet. I did have to buy some speaker wire to RCA adapters to use my own speaker wire, I'll add a pic of those so you know what I'm talking about. Only place I could find them was Amazon. My local best buy didn't have a clue what I was talking about, one guy even said there's no such thing. I just laughed and walked away. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because when sound bar sits idle for awhile, like over night, it somewhat goes into sleep mode and you have to adjust volume up to get it to wake up. Depending on how loud you had it before it wakes up to that level, so for those that have family asleep when you decide to watch TV in the early morning be aware of that. There may be a setting to adjust this, I haven't dove to deep into it yet. So anyway if you want great sound out of a simple product go buy one. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Great sound bar for large living space

I use this sound bar in a large living room in conjunction with a Vizio M-Series TV and a Sony 3D Smart Blu-Ray. I love this set up. For less than $1000 we have movie theater quality picture and sound at home. I'd almost rather watch a movie here than in the theater.
This bar connects to BT devices, so we frequently play music through our phones on it. It is sleek, attractive, and easy to set up. The rear speakers connect directly to the subwoofer which must be plugged in but there are NO WIRES that go from the back of the room to the front which I LOVE.
One improvement I'd like to see in this product is the ability to balance front and back sound. Because some of our seating is very near the rear speakers, at times the rear sound overpowers the front and I'd like more control over that. If this feature is available on this bar, I just haven't discovered it yet (and haven't tried a whole lot).
I'd also like the BT connectivity (pairing) to be simpler. I was able to figure it out in less than 2 minutes without using a manual, but it required more button pushing on the remote than I think it should have. We have iPhone 5 devices that we pair with it. Not a deal breaker by any means, but it could be simpler.
The remote is tiny and very simple. It powers on and connects to our TV and BluRay automatically so there is no need to do anything. Just turn on the TV and it comes on. There is a 2-3 second delay sometimes, and I do have to occasionally hit "volume up" to make it "come alive" but I love it still.
For the price, this is a great sound system, and I'm really glad I bought it.

Everyone has different priorities, with this in mind, I will state my criteria that I used to qualify the best product to meet my objectives.
Criteria:
1) Price/value - Set by median range of existing sound bars on market.
2) Ease of setup - Should not require more than an hour and does not require specialize tools.
3) Quality build/sound - Material and performance should be of reasonable quality to the average user.
4) Clean installation - Wireless speakers.
Summary: I am very pleased with this purchase, I have not previously owned any Vizio products, I was skeptical about quality. The price point was low enough that the risk was acceptable. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this unit.
Based on my aforementioned requirements, this product was the best choice at the time of my purchase. Setup was seamless, clean, and only took 30min to complete.
Sound quality is above acceptable, crisp and no distortion when turning the volume up. The amount of big sounds being pushed out of this system is respectable, I have yet to find the need to even set it at half it's capabilities. The only drawback is the lack of smaller increment in volume control; the levels have a pretty large gap in adjustments.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone wanting big sound without the big price tag.

I've had the Vizio 5.1 sound bar for a 6 months now and I am very pleased with the system. I originally looked at a Sonos system but their decision not to support DTS was a deal breaker. Keep all the other bells and whistles Sonos, the Vizio system provides superior sound (DTS) at a fraction of the cost. The music from my iPods and iPads really sounds great over Bluetooth and I don't need a special app.
Like most soundbars, you will most likely need a SPDIF/TOSLINK digital optical switch to get the most out of this Vizio Soundbar and support true 5.1 surround. I went with a J-Tech Digital 3 input x 1 output switch with remote control. This lets me connect the digital optical outputs on the 3D blueray player, 3D TV and my XBMC based HTPC (mac mini) to the one digital optical input on the Vizio sound bar. I used four 6 foot Premium Toslink Optical Digital Audio 9To5Cables to make the connections.
I love the remote control for the Vizio soundbar. Very intuitive placing a screen on the remote vs one on the soundbar. The use of a status screen also minimizes button clutter on the remote. The status lights on the soundbar are easy to see and understand if the remote changed the desired setting. My wife is now comfortable using it to switch between bluetooth and digital optical input as well as several other menu options like adjusting the subwoofer level and turning on/off the True Volume or Night features. I do wish they had a backlight or glow in the dark on the remote so you can see the screen during late night viewing. Fortunately once you have it set for movie viewing you don't really need to make menu adjustments and you can easily navigate the volume, mute and other control buttons by touch. In fact, because you can program the soundbar to recognize your existing TV remote, you don't even need to use the Vizio remote to adjust the volume while watching TV. Tapping the volume on your remote will also wake up the soundbar if you are using the Eco power mode.
The system is very easy to setup up right out of the box. It took FAR longer to remove the amp, surround speakers, and all that wire from the old system. I have the subwoofer right behind the couch. The satellite speakers are sitting on Atlantic Satellite 77305018 stands and the bases tuck nicely under the back of the couch. The wires run down the inside of the stand and under the couch to the subwoofer, completely out of sight. The wireless connection between the soundbar and the subwoofer works flawlessly and it is nice not having so much wire clutter like my old system.

This system is awesome. I spent hours upon hours researching home theater systems and this was my final choice. It is super loud and has great sound and great bass. The Bluetooth function is wonderful. I have 0 complaints for this system. I bought this ssystem to replace a panasonic htib system that cost over 500 and this Vizio beats it in every way possible. Vizio is a greal up and coming American company. The only minor flaw is the remote screen is not back lit.

I purchased this sound bar not sure if I would like it with my movies.
The only sound bars i found in best buy were either 2.1 or 7.1 from what I found. I looked at the reviews of it and I went for it and for $247 (sale), I figured it would be a good deal. The rear speakers are wired but are connected to the wirerless subwoofer. I will admit the rear speakers is what sold me on this sound bar. Even movies that are encoded for 7.1 sound great too.
Pros
Bass and the Surround of the speakers work very well and sound good
Be careful, the bass will hit hard if set too high and neighbors will complain LOL (mine did)
Easy to setup
Able to pick up small sounds in movies than before
Surround speakers work very well to produce the Left to Right or vice versa sound effects in movies
Used the supplied Optic cable in box (generic) and sounds great
You can use a better optic cable if desire for the audiophile type of person
Even though there is not a LED screen on sound bar, bluetooth is easy to connect to every device.
Cons
Remote LED is not back lit - remedied this by using a flashlight app on my phone or a good source of bright light
Have to adjust to the LED notifications on sound bar but after while, you really don't pay attention to them except for the overall volume of the unit
Overall, 3D movies are even better with the sound bar. I still watch 2D movies and I feel like I am in a theatre. Avatar is encoded for 5.1 and its amazing to watch, very engrossing. It made all movies are now complete.
Note = All the volumes for the different settings using the remote is indicated by the LEDs on the sound bar
Note = To switch inputs, hit the middle button (play button)

This soundbar was very easy to set-up. One optical cable which was included then plug into the wall. Subwoofer and rear speakers were color coded and connected via Bluetooth to soundbar. Already came paired. I also paired with my iPhone and can play my music over this system as well. Sound is great. I did find that when I turn my tv off, the soundbar volume starts at zero when TV is turned back on but TV speakers remember their setting, so I need to 'zero' both by turning volume completely down and then when I turn volume up, the soundbar is louder than TV speaker. I did set the TV speAker output to opticAl, but every time I turn TV back on, it's own speakers are on again. TV issue, not speaker issue. Rear speakers are small enough that I did not need stands.

It is Super easy to hook up and after a little fine tuning with the remote this sound system does a Fantastic job. It really adds premium sound to a flat screen TV.
I hooked mine upto a TCL ROKU LED. It had good sound, it just needed some Bass and this system gave it to it with surround sound too.
In the system settings I have the subwoofer turned ALL the way up and the bass setting on high cause there is plenty of treble to spare. I placed the subwoofer behind my sofa and its great. I get to hear the sound and feel it too.
Note: The subwoofer does NOT require " clear line of sight ". Mine works great stuffed behind my sofa.

Retail price is $299 but purchased mine for $199. I'm definitely impressed with the sound quality over another 5.1 system i had purchased awhile back (different brand). Note: (you do have to set-up the "TruVol", surround sound and bass/trebble to your taste to get the right amount of sound power and crisp distributed around the room because out of the box settings sounded just like the TV speakers). It was easy to do on the little lcd remote provided so no worries if you think you would have trouble setting it up. There are minimal amount of cables from system to tv and from rear speakers to the sub. The bluetooth works flawlessly with my stock Android and Cyanogenmod powered devices. Not once have I lost connectivity through the bluetooth streaming so I'm impressed with that as well. I have used my speakers with blu-rays movies, netflix 5.1 streaming and multiple music streaming services but not until I played video games did I realize how accurate the sounds were. It was almost like I was wearing a surround sound headset, meaning I could hear most or all of the little details in the video games I could not hear from regular 2.1 or my previous 5.1 audio system because of the lack of settings you can tweak for the surround sound system. I think i can go on and on but the bottom line is, I'm happy with the purchase, make sure to get the $35 4 year protection plan and go ahead and turn your house into a movie theater!

After trying a Samsung 2.1 we researched and found good comments about this soundbar. They were correct. It is easy to set up, the sound is very good and we are very happy with the price too. The Bluetooth work perfectly (to the woofer and with our iPod) and it came with all the cables.

I have had a few out of the box systems, you know, dvd/blu ray with speakers sets. After moving to a new place I was not thinking of how my system would work in this new space (open floor plan) I had already looked at this system before (old version) when I first moved here but I had decided to save up and have speakers installed. When I went to best buy to get my new Vizio TV I saw they had this new one on sale $249.99 so with both on sale I was able to get both for under 2K.
Anyway enough background right.
This systems beats all of my previous systems by a lot and I have had samsung, sony and I also had a Philips back in the day (really good satellite speakers). The surround is subtle the way it should be IMO but (can be adjusted) the sound bar looks nice and packs a punch I don't really go over 4 but it can go as high as 12 (it's loud) no wires to run from front to back of the room only the two that go from sub to rear satelites. I bought some wire solution stuff and a couple of mounts from Home Depot ($40-50) to go up one wall and along the cealing to the other side of the room in the back of the room. Looks and sounds great tons of features and I can use my Vizio TV remote with this unit also. All in all a great buy, about $300 total investment into just the sound system and it sounds great for a hell of a lot less than putting in speakers in the wall and cealing.
Now don't get me wrong this is still at the end of the day just a sound bar system and that is why it got 5 stars. This is in no way in the same league as some 1-2K or even more systems. But this holds it's own and then some

This is an awesome system. The sound of the system is really great! It totally changes the experience of watching television, even game shows and the news. It goes without saying, but movies are outstanding!
I had wanted to get a fully wireless system, but the totally wireless systems were overly expensive. After reading a lot of reviews, this looked like a great match for what I was looking for. The subwoofer connects wirelessly via bluetooth, and the rear speakers are wired from there.
The descriptions don't talk much about the fact that there is a remote to adjust treble, balance, fade, etc., but it is great.

I did a lot of research before buying and I kept coming back to this Visio system. I wanted a wireless subwoofer and 5.1 surround. Every other product that offered that was $500 or more, I heard some bad things about this one but I have yet to discover them for myself. If I had to pick one thing I didn't like I would say the volume control, it seems like there's no midway point it is either real loud or real quiet. But then again I'm hard of hearing anyways so maybe it's just me.
