The overall quality of the product is decent, for the price it’s hard to expect anything else. When I compare with the DJI Osmo Mobile the quality of the DJI gimbal is far superior. This one feels a bit cheap in the hand. The app is a bit glitchy but gets the job done. Overall I would say if you found a deal and got this for under $100 then it’s worth it, but anything over $100 just get the Osmo mobile.

Not designed for the latest bigger phones. Can't handle the weight and size. It doesn't tell you these details until you open the box and read the manual. With my phone and case...I guess it exceeds the maximum payload. 201g+ Note9 512GB plus the case. The gimbal won't even respond but it tries to. It just hesitates and twitches when you try to move the joystick... because the phone and case exceeds the weight. Other than that...it's perfect for soneone with a lighter phone with a screensize under 6.0". Note 9 is 6.3 or 6.4 with the case.

It's not the best, but it's serviceable once you figure out some of the quirks. The big issue, bought a separate go pro adapter, which fits fine, and works great when shooting in Narrow, but when using Normal or Wide, the weight in the front is in the shot. See the photo. First time I used it in this manner was a couple weeks ago at Disneyland. Super frustrating, and I have no clue how to fix it before we go on our next vacation. Usually I shoot narrow, but on trips, I go wider. Would take it back if I could.

Best budget smartphone gimbal! My only complaint is my 11Pro Max is a little too heavy for it so I had to buy a counterweight but other than that it operates great.

We bought this to take better videos of our outings and start vlogging our adventures. We tried vlogging with our Sony a5100 camera several times in the past but we hated the shakiness and how close up the shots were. Also we would have too many things with us. Our canon 70D, our cellphones, our Sony and sometimes tripods depending on where we were going. This eliminated all of those factors for us. Now we only need our phones and tripods aren't necessary. For pictures we may bring the 70d, but rarely do. We did purchase a sturdy heavy duty extendable selfie stick to attach to the bottom to add length for those low close to the action shots. It adds enough length without extending. We couldn't be happier. The battery lasts forever. When we took it out the box it was practically charged all the way, we have not had to charge it yet. It comes with a nice case for carrying around. It can also charge your cellphone if it runs low on battery. Our footage from just our 6splus iPhones are amazing, clear, crisp and SMOOTH! I highly recommend if you want to upgrade the quality of phone videos you create. We can also attach our GoPro with a separate attachment. Once we get the full hang of it, we will be purchasing the zhiyun gimbal for our camera. P.S. For those who may not watch tons of YouTube review videos before purchasing. Make sure you stabilize your camera in the gimbal before you operate it. If not you will be putting stress on the motors and could potentially damage it. That goes for any gimbal, not just this one. Also never turn it on without your phone or GoPro already attached. Same deal.

If you are looking for a inexpensive alternative from the Dji Osmo Mobile, the Smooth-Q is the one. While the Dji Osmo Mobile has a better build quality, more refined and feature filled app, it's not worth the $160 more. The Smooth-Q performs very well providing smooth video. The battery life kills my Dji Osmo Mobile. I have gone through 2 full charges on the Smooth-Q and average 10.5 hours of use. My Dji Osmo Mobile, I get about 3 1/2 hours. The Zhiyun app is very basic compared to the Dji Go app for the Osmo. To be honest, I use my smart phones camera and video app more than the Gimbal app because it works better and I have greater control over my settings. For $139 it can't be beat. Performs great, easy to use and battery life is outstanding. The only negative for me is the app, but as a handheld gimbal it's fantastic.

    Best Priced Gimbal 2017

As my youtube channel continues to grow, so does the equipment I use to film those videos. Now I'm not a big youtuber who makes enough extra income a month to call this a job, but I'm getting closer to my goal. With that said it was time to look into some sort of handheld gimbal stabilization to take more cinematic footage and I stumbled across this little gadget. It's called the Smooth Q by Zhiyun which has a 3 Axis Gimbal and sells for a great price of around $139 through major retailers like Best Buy. In the past few days I have taken some pretty cool videos of the kids and other clips for youtube and it has performed flawlessly. I have not even had time to really go through all of the features available and will update them with time. The ZY play app for IOS and android will connect the Gimbal t your smartphone for some really cool extra perks, like time lapse, slow mo, moving time lapse and much more. Although using this with the app I did notice a significant drop in battery on my iPhone 7 plus. But the app is not required to use the gimbal. The battery life has a rating of about 12 hours and since I charged it 2 days ago it has continued to work within this range. I also have a GoPro that works excellent with this and has made the footage look crisp and much smoother. It has a bottom mounting thread to support most tripods and monopod extensions as well. Another cool feature is object tracking which helps the gimbal and phone camera follow a target and focus automatically. The Gimbal fits most smartphones and select action cameras weighing up to 7.7 oz and up to 3.3" wide. This is by far the best purchase I have made for 2017 aside from the DJI Spark. The price point is great and won't leave your wallet feeling empty after the purchase and it works just as great if not better than the other high priced models out there today.

Being that I do a lot photos and video with my cell phone, I was curious about this device. there are many up and down reviews on this device, but I can tell you it does what it was designed to do. Now the question is, is this device something you need? It really all depends on what you want it for. In the long run, I was able to purchase it for $79.00 on sale and I only used it over Christmas and only one day and haven't touched it since. I suppose when I go an vacations it will be used more often, but for everyday use...mmmmm….not sure it practical. Now as for the set up and use. To get the device balanced you have to place your phone in it and adjust a screw for counter balance. Easy enough, but I was unable to balance the device with my phone case on. I have a Galaxy Note 10 plus so its a big phone....with the case on, balancing was a no go, without the case I had no issues. The weird thing was that once it was balance and I put my phone with the case on back in the device an turned it on the device worked with no issue even with the case on it. So go figure. The operation of the device is pretty cool allowing you to basically keep the camera pretty steady no matter how bumpy the road your walking or driving on is. The app that comes with it allows for some really cool features like 360 or 180 degree panorama that work automatically. Unfortunately this device has too many features on it to go into detail here. The best thing to do is YouTube it and see all the feature and how they work on a video. So all in all this device works well and does what it's supposed to. The main question you have to ask yourself is do you just want to pull out your phone and take pictures and video or do you want to drag this device along set it up, and then take smoother videos and pictures? For $79.00 I'm ok buying it and pretty much using it only when I go on vacation or going somewhere to take video I really want to come out smooth, some people might think using this is going to be a hassle....

used this on a recent vacation. I did not feel like spending $200+ on something that I would most likely only use occasionally. The gimbal worked exactly as described, and provided smooth video recording from my cell phone. takes some practice to get used to the buttons and features, and the app GUI interface worked rather well. overall pleasantly surprised with this entry level gimbal.

My review title pretty much sums this up. This is a relatively cheap gimbal, as most similar gimbals can easily be over $200. I bought this to use on multiple trips to Big Sur, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. Coupled with the brilliant camera on the Galaxy S8 (I'm writing this review 1.5 years later), this thing is GREAT for the purpose. Standing alone as a product (in other words, excluding the app, I will address that later), this is great for phones and will get you beautiful smooth footage almost every time. As long as you dont accidentally turn it on without the phone installed (which I did a couple times.....oops), the motors are silent and work very well. The joystick is extremely helpful, and its awesome the thing can be used as an external battery pack. And the the tripod thread on the bottom is a godsend. I would attach this thing to a mini flexible tripod I had and could get great group photos on a timer, perfectly stabilized left-right pans, and good standing footage anywhere. If you buy this, I highly recommend having a mini tripod too. Some criticisms I have are: 1) I wish it could be extended just a little farther out, as sometimes I will catch the tail end of the gimbal in some shots when panning around. 2) Had a rubberized grip or something that wasnt matte plastic. When hiking with this, sweaty hands make this slippery. 3) It came with a PLASTIC attachment/adapter for gopros. I know this is not necessarily the products fault, but all the gopro attachments Ive seen with this are metal of a solid slab of metal. And coupled with a gopro hero 6, its too heavy. A plastic adapter + weight of gopro is basically equivalent to a phone. Why does it have to be metal?! Aside from that, I just wish Zhiyun sold an adapter made by them. All these 3rd party attachments have such shady and spotty reviews, I dont trust them. If Zhiyun sold their own, Id gladly buy one from them, knowing it was from a company that knows the capabilities of its own products. So a couple other things to address about this. The charging cable is flat which is a nice plus!! The carrying case is a great plus as well! Its not the highest quality case ever and can get scuffed pretty easily. But better the case than your gimbal right? The fact its included is something I love. Battery life is great as well. I've gone a whole week, using this thing throughout every day, without charging it. And it still seems to hold up fine. The one thing I will say is that knowing its battery life is a little mysterious. I went a whole month without charging it and it still trudged on just fine and never would blink yellow for a charge. Then one day it just wouldnt turn on. So I charged it, then it was fine. Idk, what Im saying is, I wish there was a better way for battery life indication. Like 5 dot lights on the side or something. Lastly, the app. Yikes.....the dreaded app. Simply put, dont use it. Dont download it, dont even bother. Its just downright terrible. The tracking is a cool idea, and being able to use the zoom in/out button on the gimbal is enticing, but honestly. The frustration the app brings is not even worth it. I tried it on both an iphone and my own galaxy, and it sucked for both. If the app was as amazing as the product itself, this would be a 7/5 star thing!!!!! But because the app is just flatout garbage, its a -1 star for a 5 star product. I do recommend this for anyone who wants their footage to look more professional and smooth!

Love this gimbal. So many features at such a great price; very easy to use and get setup. The only downside is that I wasn’t able to get my iPhone 7 Plus to balance properly. Online videos showed that it would work but I wasn’t able to. Used my 6s without issue.

This takes a bit to get figured out. It's hard to know which setting you're on but you just keep pressing the mode button until it does what you want it to. The first one I got didn't work quite right, very glitchy so I exchanged it for another one which worked better. It really does make for a smoother video & I've been using it with my GoPro 5 & 6 with no problem. The only thing I found out with the GoPro is you HAVE to turn on the wind filter or the sound from the gimbal is horrible! My friend has the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal & that doesn't go all the way around so this one seems like a better choice. I know there are a lot more expensive ones out there but this one is really good for the price.

Wish there was an easy way to go through the different modes. I have an iPhone 7 Plus and you have to take the case off. Not that easy to put phone in because where you put the phone it is spring loaded so you have to hold the piece open and at the same time manage to put your phone in. I have to do it sitting on the couch or bed just Incase I drop my phone without the case. I think I will be returning it. But when I did use the product the video came out nice. Butter smooth as they say. I also had a $10 reward when I purchased so it was only $69

At first I was a bit hesitant to purchase this gimbal stabilizer, since I never heard of this brand, but also was looking no to spend a lot, so my only two options were the Zhiyun Smooth Q and the DJI osmo mobile, (I happen to own a DJI phantom quadropter and I have experienced and convinced by the quality and build of their products) So I went to do my own research and found encouraging reviews about this stabilizer and the fact that for the price it was a great deal, and that made me decide to give this a chance and i'm glad I did... this gimbal has exceeded my expectations. its pretty cool and works great, I love it has a feature to follow a subject. I do recommend to practice before you try to make your shots in order to get familiar with the controls...It connects via Bluetooth with your smartphone and once you start using it, you notice how smooth your shots become, you can even walk fast and also run and it does a great job !! you can also hook it to a tripod via the screw hole in the bottom of the stick, so you can make time lapses. Its not a Selfie stick... but you can use also take selfies if you want.. One thing I must point out I think the iphone app works better than the one for android version, I look forward that in future updates it gets better.. Another feature I want to mention is that unlike the OSMO mobile, this one carries inside a huge battery that lasts forever !! ...so you can also charge your devices. It´s a great deal and really recommend this gadget !!

Just began in the mini-camera mode with a Hero 5 Black. After trying it out with its related accessories, there is a compelling need for a gimbal stabilizer if you plan out taking decent shots. Most are priced around the $300+ mark. After reading many reviews and videos, the Zhiyun made good sense @ $100 for just starting off and most reviews were positive for the hobbyist. So, why not? I can upgrade later if I stick with the hobby. I have not had it long enough to test durability but just the fact that it could also be used as a power source to extend shooting time is a big plus. So far the only negative is mounting the Hero. Standard mounting will cover the camera screen so you need to buy a bracket (cell phone size and weighted) to compensate but you need to use mode 3 exclusively for the correct orientation forward and screen viewable. Not Zhiyun's fault since it was designed for a cell phone not a GoPro. But it does the job and when using my cell it does work as well with the 3 different modes. However, if you use your cell phone as a monitor with the Hero screen blocked, that works. But you're burning two batteries along with the added drain for bluetooth so you may be limited in a long shoot with just basic power sources. Add more!

I played with both the osmo and the smooth q and I definitely perfer the Q. It really is just personal preference though , I perfer the Q because of little things like how it can rotate more than the osmo. The app isnt all that great so I dont really use it. Plus for some reason the quality looks better with phone camera than app camera, even though it is same camera but overall it is great if you wanna film home movies for fun, or even just to use in your daily life, and for the price it is definitely worth it!

This stabilizer was an impulse buy because I needed something to take video at an event but didn’t want to drag along a tripod. It did a good job stablelizong after some fiddling to get it balanced. I tried to use the advance features with the built in app, but it was not intuitive. But for the price it was pretty awesome. I got it on sale while I was traveling. I will likely give it to one of my kids to use, if I find one more intuitive.

Was getting frustrated at first but as I use it more and more I am happy with the purchase. Biggest issue is that you do not know what mode its in. The instructions didn't emphasize the importance of balancing your phone before using it. This is very important or the gimbles will overheat and shut down. I learned this by watching YouTube videos instead of the instructions. But overall, I am happy.

Good gimbal, not great. This is my FIRST gimbal. Wanted one to use my iPhone 11 Pro Max for vlogging on the move. It does that job very well, BUT the phone is pushing the gimbal 100% all the time. It doesn't like the big heavy phone, and sometimes doesn't balance right, which is frustrating trying to re-set everything up especially if you were trying to get a quick shot. Also claims to be able to charge the phone while using the gimbal, but the charging port on your phone is jammed against the rubber bumper, so you cannot plug it in... Overall, I wouldn't buy this again, I would spent a few bucks more on a much smaller, feature packed better gimbal.

I bought this Gimbal stabilizer few months back with just knowledge from watching videos. BestBuy had a great deal so I just went to the store and picked it up. Couldn’t even wait to order and get it delivered. It fits my iPhone X perfectly without the case. Stabilization of the video is just awesome. All I have to do is to use the buttons to turn my phone around while taking the video. I also used it a selfie stick. BTW setup was so easy. You can recharge it with a micro USB. Recommend it for beginners like you. You’ll love it.
