A:AnswerNope. I tried and it won't feed the sheet in more than 2 inches. Contacted Brother was told this machine won't print labels and doing this will void the warranty. This info should have been included in the product description or on the box. Would like to have known prior to purchasing.
A:AnswerIt will print 200 pages with the starter cartridges that come with the printer. There is a high yield option of ink cartridges that will print 400 pages.
A:AnswerWe read previous answers that said we could print with black only if other colors ran out. And we have managed to do so, however, we are getting annoying messages about yellow ink having run out every time we try to print. I have changed the default print to grayscale, so I hope this fixes it. I found the Brother manual online, and it says that if you run it with only black, air will blow through the other colors and may damage the print head. So, please disregard the previous answer that says you can print black only. So, be aware of this before you buy.
Here's what the user guide says:
Print using only the black ink cartridge when the Color cartridges have run out.
Basically, your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations when any of the ink cartridges are empty. This is to ensure the life of the print head and maintain premium print quality. If the unit were to continue printing, print jobs and cleaning cycles would suck air from the empty cartridge and damage the print head.
However, your Brother machine exceptionally can operate in a B&W Print Only (black and white) mode when one or more color ink cartridges are empty. When a color cartridge is empty, an error message will appear on the machine's display (hereinafter called LCD) of the machine stating B&W Print Only Replace Ink or B&W 1-sided Print Only Replace Ink.
Follow the steps below to print using only the black ink cartridge:
STEP1 Verify that the unit has message on the LCD
If the LCD displays B&W Print Only Replace Ink or B&W 1-sided Print Only Replace Ink, continue to STEP 2.
If the LCD displays other error messages (for example "Cannot Detect"), refer to "FAQs & Troubleshooting" for information on the error message you are receiving.
The items listed below can cause the Black & White Print Only mode to end and the color ink cartridge will need to be replaced:
You can use the machine as a Black & White printer for approximately four weeks. This depends on the number of pages you print.
If you unplug the machine or remove the ink cartridge.
If you select the Slow Drying Paper option on the machine or in the printer driver.
A:AnswerThe Brothers printer comes with ink cartridges that do not contain a full level of ink. They contain just enough ink to allow you to test your equipment. Expect to have to buy ink cartridges almost immediately.
A:AnswerQ1: No, it keeps printing until the ink is completely gone pretty much. Q2. It isn't Bluetooth accessible but with WiFi, you can send stuff from your phone directly to the printer. Q3. No, if any of the color ink cartridges are empty, it won't let you print anything out unfortunately.
A:AnswerThe other answer claiming to be from Brother is a lie. I own this printer and am currently going through the frustration of not being able to print black and white because one of the color cartridges is out of ink. I just installed a brand new black cartridge and have my computer set to print black and white only but the printer refuses. No amount of clearing errors or restarting it makes it work. Complete BS.
A:AnswerI use it both Wifi and Bluetooth. It also it plugged in to my network via Cat5. So far it seems to work very well and I use it to create flyers as they come out better there than on my larger work laser printer by Brother which is a real work horse. I would not use this as a real work horse printer, but it's great for nice quality print and standard B&W. For connectivity. I use a Lenovo Yoga laptop with wireless connection and it's fine. I have tried to print from my Samsung Note 9 phone, but so far haven't been able to figure it out. It's a new phone to me and I've never tried to print from a phone so could be user error. WiFi works fine and I am not connected to any 'cloud' to enable printing, although I do use Dropbox and am able to print files fine from there. Wifi is all that is used then. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerThis printer comes with the 3011 cartridges. These print about 200 pages. The refill most common is the 3013 which prints about 400 pages. I see there is now a 3033 which prints about 1,500 pages.
The best thing is they can all 4 cartridges can be changes separately saving you money. The cartridges start at $8.49 for the colors and $7 if you get the black in a multi pack.
A:AnswerI personally haven’t tried to refill them but I did sign up for the easy replenish program. When it senses that the ink is low it will trigger a response to Best Buy and they will charge your card on file and send you the ink you need before you run out completely depending on your use.
