- Answer Just bought the V15; my wife loves it. But there's no extra battery - it says there should be. The run time listed is for hardwood floors - expensive and lowest power use.

QuestionWe have a lot of carpeted stairs that we will be using the V15 for. Which is the best way to vacuum the stairs and which tool is best to use on the stairs? I was thinking to detach the long stick and attach the large carpet head. Is this possible?

- Answer Well, our V15 arrived just an hour ago and I tested it on the carpeted stairs.......and it works PERFECTLY!!! I used the carpet head with and without the stick and I prefer not using the stick. Not sure why Busnut (see the reply) said that the V15 does not work so well on carpet. When I turned the unit on the head 'sucked down' on the carpet and did it's job. I am a satisfied buyer!

QuestionDo the Dyson V15 Detects vacuum cleaners purchased from Home Depot, Best Buy, Abe's, and Target a have HEPA filtration rating or only if you purchase direct from Dyson? I'm asking if the V15 Detect from Dyson is different than what is sold by Box stores?

- Answer I purchased the V15 Detect from BestBuy, and after research tonight I found that the standard V15 Detect sold at BestBuy and others does not have the HEPA filtration. On Dyson's website they have two models, the V15 Detect and the V15 Detect+ (notice the "+") the "+" model does have HEPA and has a light blue end cap instead of purple which is on the standard V15 Detect. I was disappointed to find that the normal V15 Detect that I purchased was not HEPA, shame on Dyson at this price point. I might return and buy direct from Dyson as they note on their site "Only available direct from Dyson. An upgraded HEPA post-motor filter delivers our most advanced whole-machine filtration in a cordless vacuum."

QuestionHow do you determine which of the 2 large heads to use in different situations? Is one for hard floor and one for carpet?

- Answer The fluffy head tends to make the vacuum bounce all over the place. On thick carpet, it shuts off the head as a safety. The larger carpet head tends to suck up battery power and I find isn't the greatest at medium to thick carpets.

QuestionHow is the V15 with long hair?

- Answer If you’re talking about pet hair my dog’s hair is about three inches long and it works great at picking up. There is a lot of shedding and at times I may have to clean out the airways which can get clogged but easy to do. Also works well on my daughter’s hair just not as much of it but all ends up in the tank to be emptied.

The Laser Slim Fluffy™ cleaner head for the Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum is intended to be used on bare/hard floors, including laminate. The other High Torque cleaner head with anti-tangle comb is intended to be used on all floors, including carpeted floors. Regular maintenance would include emptying the dirt canister after each use, and keeping the reusable filter clean, along with occasional cleaning of the floor tools. The unit includes a convenient rechargeable battery and wall charger to keep the unit ready for the next clean! That said, while we don't expect problems with using your Dyson across shag carpet, this will ultimately vary on different factors and experiences can vary from one home to the next. QuestionI received V15 yesterday, fully charged battery before first use and the battery indicator is showing 46 min. Isn’t it supposed to be 60 min, if the vacuum is new and fully charged?

- Answer The V15 Detect has a max run time of 60 minutes depending on the load it is sensing. The number is subject to change if the sensor believes that more suction or power is needed for the floor type and head used. I have found that a fully charge vacuum will state around 30 minutes on my carpet, but as I move across to hard floors and such, the time increases and I’d say I have gotten over 50mins of use out of a single charge.

QuestionDoes the V15 trigger lock? Or do I have to hold it down like the V11v thank you

- Answer I would like to know why they went back to the trigger button after they had a lock switch on the v12. I want the lock switch and it seems weird they went back to the old trigger switch which is very uncomfortable and I get blisters from holding it down.
