QuestionI wish to be able to take recorded content from the multiple tuner DVR (assuming hard drive) and burn it to a DVD. Can this device perform that function?

- Answer No, this is just a TV tuner, which outputs to mpeg-2 format. You can accomplish what you want with a few pieces of software. 1.) DVR software, available from HDHR with a premium subscription. 2.) Transcoding software, i.e. Handbrake, to put the resulting recordings in a format readable by the DVD. 3.)DVD burning software to get them on to the discs. Good luck with your research!

QuestionSo do you watch local channels, do you watch them just like normal with an antenna hooked to the tv or do you watch them thru an Amazon Fire or other device?

- Answer When you install this device, you have to disconnect your outside antenna from your TV and connect it to this. It is also connected to your ethernet cable and to power. Next you have to down load the HD Homerun app on any of your network connected devices that you want to watch your local channels on. Install it on your computer and run the app. It will scan for local channels and finish the set up of your HD Homerun device. You can also install the app on Apple TV, Android boxes such as Nvidia shield, etc. That will allow you to watch your channels on them. For example, I have HD Homerun app on my desktop, Iphone 8, Apple TV and Nvidia shield. One note,,, this will not record, that is a service that is offered in the app for $35 / yr. but is not required if you just want to view.

QuestionCan this be used with TV that have no tuner? New Vizio TVs don't have a tuner and they have Chromecast, can I use this device on those TVs?

- Answer Best practice here is to stream through the HDHomeRun to a media device which is connected to the TV via HDMI - and use our Free Live TV app or a 3rd party app that will then play to the TV These include FireTV stick or box / Nvidia Shield / Xioami box / AppleTV4 / XboxOne / etc

- Answer you'll need dvr software as well as disk storage. silicon dust offers a fee based dvr service or alternatively you could use free software, mythtv, kodi, or windows media server - although the later is no longer bundled with windows 10. google free dvr and the os of your choice and you'll find much to choose from i use mythtv and it works very well - one caveat it does not work well with windows If you're not technically inclined then the dvr offering from silicon dust may be what you're looking for

- Answer I could not find anything where the hdhomerun dvr record engine was running on a netgear readynas duo.... here is a direct link to the silicon dust nas requirements: https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=20595 I have been using a synology nas for over 2 yrs with hdhomerun primes & just recently added the OTA connect. no issues recording to the nas. the hdhomerun dvr app does work well...

- Answer The beauty of HDHomeRun is that we work across your internal home network. Internet speeds, download speeds, net neutrality, none of that affects HDHomeRun streaming throughout the home. RF from your antenna in, Connect to your home Router or Switch - The only Internet required is Low Bandwidth connect to our servers for the Guide Data A 100MB router is recommended, but if you have a GigE network you should never his your max as the highest bandwidth channel would be approx 18 to 20 Mbs

- Answer Using the SiliconDust Quattro with either the SiliconDust DVR service or the Channels DVR service from Fancy Bits (I use this one), you can record OTA broadcasts in HD. The Channels DVR service will also record the SiliconDust Premium TV streaming content. Both of these DVR services require local storage and a paid subscription.

- Answer Hi, this device will only display the TV signals that are being broadcast live. If the channels are broadcast in HD, they will be displayed in HD. It will not record programs, that is a service that is offered by the company that makes this device. The cost for the DVR service is $35 / year. Here is a link that you can get some more information. https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/ . This company offers several different models of this device, but any of them will require a subscription if you want to record.

- Answer I don't have comcast anymore, but the last time I had the service, they encrypt all their channels and you get one unencrypted channel that is a Comcast ad. For local HD channels, you will still need an antenna. Not sure if Comcast has changed. It's been 3 years since I had Comcast. You can easily test by plugging the cable into your TV and have the TV search for available channels.

- Answer The short answer is yes to all questions. If you use the NAS to set up the PVR software you will need one with a good processor. I set mine up using a NAS for storage but running the PVR software on a small LINUX platform but the software will run on a NAS or on a Windows machine as well. There are a lot of options. Each TV will of course need a platform to run a software application but again there are a lot of options here as well. I have used Android TV and Apple TV

- Answer Assuming the Synology can run software to record the video stream that the quatro sends out, then yes. Plex as well as HD HomeRun have DVR software, though I'm not familiar what you can run on a synology. I've read somewhere about running DVR software on a Synology. Google will be your friend on this.

QuestionHi, I recently purchased a Vizio 4K Smart TV (with Network port and wifi). Just realized that this TV did not come with a COAX port for HD Antenna. My question is, can this HDHomeRun Tuner box work with my Vizion 4K Smart TV? thanks

- Answer Sort of. The HDHomeRun will appear on your local network as a media server. Use the multimedia app on your Vizio TV to find it and you'll get broadcast channels. That's what I do. It will also work on multiple smart tv's in your home. Win win.

- Answer Sure Can !! as you begin recording a program - and then start to watch that same program in progress, you are now allocated to Playback and it Frees Up a tuner that you would normally be using in addition.

- Answer Intended for Antenna. However if you happen to have the ever fading Clear QAM cable (remember single input so one or the other) then you can watch / record that Clear QAM - DOES NOT work with any cable system that requires CableCARD or access Control - as most do now That is the purpose of the HDHomeRun PRIME HDHR3-CC

- Answer A coaxial cable is just a cable. It will not provide content on its own. If you are asking about a coax from a cable tv provider, it depends on whether your provider supports ClearQAM. If they do, then we support that. If they don't, it won't work. Then you will need an antenna.

QuestionNot familiar with this at all. It says you can cut the cord to cable TV but what exactly do I need to make this work? I have nothing from the cable company right now. I do have an HD antenna which I haven't used yet. I have no TV at the moment.

- Answer That OK...All you need is a router and a computer. Hook-up the HD home run to a router or switch on you home network, plug the antenna and a network cable to use. Install the software from the website. Install the drivers, go through the prompts to scan your channels from you HD Antenna. The software has a interface you can watch live tv from you computer. I have it going through my Windows Media Center on my big screen tv. I can use the DVR feature without paying for the one the default software has $35 a year if you choose to go that way. Good Luck.

- Answer 0-40 °C (32-104 °F) ambient, not recommended for use outdoors, in an attic, or in other uncontrolled environments. This is assuming you are asking what temperatures the device is OK to operate in.

- Answer You need something hooked up to your TV to be able to play the shows. That can be a computer, an Android TV, a Roku, an Amazon Fire TV, etc. This only uses the internet for guide updates so your speed will not be a problem.

QuestionDoes anyone who has one of these also have one of the older 2 tuner models? I have an older model and the tuners are not very sensitive. I get more stations from a thumb drive sized tuner. Just wondering if the tuners in the Quatro are more sensitive.

- Answer I have the older connect and tried the newer duo. I think I had better luck with the older connect. If you check out the HDHomerun forums you'll find lots of Connect Duo and Quattro posts where the complaint is about tuner issues. Best Buy is pretty good about returning items no questions asked, you might try one. If you're not happy you can always return it.
