QuestionFixing the belt on the hover smartwash+ fh52000

- Answer Hoover doesn't sell a replacement belt for this device. When your belt is broken, you are instructed to ship the device back to them and to get a replacement if under warranty. Words can not explain how moronic this is. This is as stupid as you replacing your vehicle when the brakes or tires need replacing.

QuestionMy Hoover SmartWash is not drying/suctioning water. I have thoroughly cleaned it but it still will not extract water from the carpet.

- Answer Just had this issue with my Hoover SmartWash Plus, today. I removed the clean water tank and turned on the 'dry only' setting. Then, I relaxed the handle about 180 degrees as I made each pass and the suction/dry function worked again perfectly. It appears that the handle triggers the suction and if the handle is in a more upright position, the suction will not engage.

QuestionWhen I turn my vacuum on the wash and dry light come on together and won’t go off. They are both lit up at the same time and the vacuum won’t spray or suck water. What’s wrong with it?

QuestionCan anyone tell me how well the stair cleaner attachment cleans the stairs? That is my main reason for purchasing this machine. The machines I bought which were advertised as " Hand Held Carpet Machines" did not work very well.

- Answer I haved used the "stair" attachment for spot cleaning, and it works just as well as the machine, just in a smaller area. I was happy with the hose length as well, but it may not extend all the way up the stairs, so the machine may need to be moved up/down the stairs behind you once you get past the halfway point.

QuestionI notice the video and most ads only show it being used on very low pile carpet. I have a room size long pile shag rug I was looking to get this to clean. Will it work with deep pile and shag rugs?

- Answer Hey Zoe, Thank you for your question! The Hoover - SmartWash + Upright Deep Cleaner should work for your setup. SmartWash has FlexForce™ PowerBrushes that gently remove deep dirt, debris and pet messes from carpets and is good for short pile carpets, while it still gets deep into long pile carpets. However, long pile shag carpet can get matted down and twisted by the brushes of any carpet cleaner, so we don't recommend it for shag on a general basis. If this happens you may need an alternate method to clean your carpet such as a steam cleaner without revolving brushes. Thanks, Joseph - The Hoover Team

Questioni need to replace the brush drive belt. where can i find a replacement?

- Answer Hoover will not sell them to you. Not sure why. Replacement parts companies don't have them either. BUT- Thank God for Amazon. If you have the FH52000 series ( mine is FH52002 meaning it came from Home Depot) the belts are available on Amazon. The longer belt is 3M-360-6, sometimes listed as 360-3M-6. These numbers refer to the size of the belt in METRIC form. The smaller belt is 3M-144-6 ( or 144-3M-6). The 3M refers to the pitch ,or angle of the cogs. The 360 or 144 refer to the length ( circumference) in mm. The 6 is the belt width in mm. Good luck.

- Answer How to Change and Clean Brushes: HOW TO REMOVE To prevent possible leaking, remove Clean Water Tank, Dirty Water Tank and Solution Tank. With the handle in upright position, follow “Nozzle: How to Remove and Clean “instructions. Grab Side A and pull up to remove. Repeat on the other brush. The brushes can be cleaned under running water. HOW TO REPLACE At an angle, align side B on the brush to the drive gear. Press Tab A down until brush snaps in place. QuestionMachine is putting out an excessive amount of suds. I tried diluting the cleaning solution, then using no solution—still too many suds. I removed the brush cover & rinsed it & the brushes each time. Suds leave a white film on the carpet.

- Answer The suds are likely due to the warm water you are using with your machine, or due to the HeatForce feature which is drying the carpet. The white film is created by the warm water being pushed by air through the carpet and up to the surface while cleaning, making it foam. QuestionIt says that it releases the correct amount of soap and water, but how does it just rinse with water? I see that it dries when it is pulled back, but how do you get the soap out of the carpet??

- Answer The suction when pulled back will pull the solution out of the carpet. The primary way that SmartWash dries is through powerful suction to remove the water and solution. If you would like to rinse your carpet to remove any remaining residue, all you have to do is remove the solution tank and clean like normal. - Answer Hey Mett, Thank you for your question. SmartWash+ was designed specifically for carpet deep cleaning and it is suggested that you vacuum to remove any obvious floor debris before cleaning. For hardwood floors, I would recommend looking into the HOOVER ONEPWR FloorMate JET. It Vacuums while washing floors at the same time for one-step cleaning on sealed surfaces. Yes, you can use SmartWash on oriental wool carpets, however, be sure to check that the water does not seep to the hard floors below as they can be damaged if not dried during the cleaning process. Also, be sure and check that your carpets are wet cleanable. You can do this by checking the tag for a "W" or "S/W" (for wet clean or dry and wet clean) on the label or by testing the colorfastness in a small hidden area with a damp rag and a paper towel. While the SmartWash does have the power to suck up deep dirt and debris from your carpet, we recommend vacuuming first so that your carpet cleaner can have the best results and leave a better, deeper clean.
