A:AnswerThe i7+ and newer versions use sight and feel to get around your home. Rupanel maps your home on the first few runs. It uses this map to get around your home and updates every time it runs. For example if a chair moves it will update the map to reflect a chair is moved and remember it for next time. You can set no go zones on the app using the map that Roomba has created of your home. I can't speak for all roombas but my Roomba has never dropped dirt when transferring from one service to another. The newer series is much better at maintaining what has picked up.
A:AnswerCan't comment on what you saw, but mine did not come with a wall barrier or batteries either. Maybe it's not there because it's not really needed anymore with the mapping software and virtual walls you can setup in the software.
A:AnswerI just bought the i7 plus and mine didn't come with virtual wall barrier either yet every unboxing and setup video shows it comes with that as well as 2 batteries. Misleading!
A:AnswerHello pathmd45, Roomba i7+ doesn’t come with virtual wall barrier. You can create “Keep Out Zones” after the robot has mapped your floor plan to create your own barriers. If you still want a virtual wall, model #4636429 will work with the i7.
A:AnswerWe use our Roomba on the first floor mainly but have a master bedroom on the second floor we also use it to vacuum. After having the Roomba map the upstair’s master bedroom, I just labeled it as such in the app. We use it upstairs once a week and I just carry it up to the master bedroom and tell Google to vacuum the master bedroom. It does it’s thing and I get the alert when it’s finished. Then I just bring it back to the home base and tell it to empty in the app. Haven’t had any issues at all. I believe the i7+ will hold 10 floor plans.
A:AnswerIt's recommended you have at least 1.5 feet on each side of the Clean Base, which should be firmly against the wall. These steps will allow the Roomba to easily exit and return to its base.
A:AnswerI have 2 levels in my home. You just move the Roomba and it’s docking station to an outlet (use the same one each time) in the new level and it will learn the new layout of each level and develop separate maps.
A:AnswerWell, I can't tell you if it is. But I can tell you that it's easily 50% more quite than the Neato's that we had owned. Most of the time I have to stop and see if the Roomba is still running. It's pretty impressive.
A:AnswerI can't say about the stairs - but I have multiple types of area rugs. This Roomba does very well on all of them except for the 2.5" shag. It doesn't seem to be able to move it's wheels well enough in the deep pile and stops part way through (also moves very slowly there, so I have created a 'no go' zone and do that rug manually). I have another 1.5" plush where it does fine. So I would say if your carpet has 2" or higher pile, it will have difficulty.
A:AnswerThe Roomba can be operated manually, the Smart Phone Application is nothing more than a companion application for ease of use or to access additional features like that Smart Maps. An iPhone is not required to operate the Roomba.
A:AnswerIt should map out the new area and you can then name it 2nd Floor or whatever you choose. You would have to take the unit and physically place it there. It keeps multiple maps or at least for me it has. I suppose when charging time comes you will have to take it back downstairs or have moved the base to the second floor. I cannot recommend this Roomba enough. It has made life a little bit nicer for us! All the best!
A:AnswerThe Roomba i7+ sold in the North American market is designed for use in this region only. The Clean Base used for charging/automatic dirt disposal is not rated for dual voltage.
A:AnswerThe Roomba i7+ is designed to use a soft, non-scratch edge sweeping brush and rubber brushes for removing debris. These parts were engineered to not cause damage to flooring, and we always recommend reaching out to your flooring manufacturer for cleaning specifications.
A:AnswerThat is an excellent question! Not every Roomba is able to connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi Network. We can confirm that the i7 and i7+ are models that are able to connect to either a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi Network.
