I'm a VR enthusiast, and I have used the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, The Lenovo Explorer, and now the Samsung Odyssey. I'm a glasses wearer, and need corrective lenses to be able to use vr, so this is based on that variable. The Rift was the worst of my experiences as my glasses wouldn't even come close to fitting, and setup of the system was a pain, it takes a third sensor to track like the vive and portability was even worse to show others vr. The god rays were awful and screen door affect was pretty obvious, and without glasses the sweet spot was tiny. The Vive was great, perfect tracking and definitely a premium system, but customer support is a pain, and if you play a game that makes you sweat, the vive is susceptible to easily breaking with sweat and that's not covered under warranty and is a $250 repair. God rays were minimal though, large sweet spot, still pretty noticeable screen door affect, but my glasses fit. The Lenovo Explorer is a fantastic cheap mixed reality vr. While the sweet spot was quite small and screen door affect was quite obvious, it's the most comfortable of all of them and super portable. My glasses fit easily and god rays are hardly there, plus it's easily portable. And finally, the Samsung... Quite comfy, god rays are gone, screen door affect is nearly non existent, large sweet spot, but the display, absolutely the best! The Samsung makes me feel like I'm experiencing vr for the first time again it's quite amazing. Final thoughts, all four boast an fov of 110, but the Samsung fov feels larger, not like looking through binoculars, plus the built-in headphones and microphone are great. For reference, I would say the vive tracking is 100% out of the box, but I would say the Samsung is 90%, so still really good for not needing base stations or light houses. I would say this is the best overall vr currently on the market.

I've used the PSVR and the HTC Vive and have always come away with motion sickness. I haven't experienced any discomfort while using the Samsung. It was also super easy to setup compared to the Vive and even the PSVR. I had one minor issue while initially installing the software for Window s Mixed Reality, but it was an easy fix. You need to be part of the Windows Insider program (took <5 minutes to sign up) in order to download the software. SteamVR worked perfectly and I experienced no tracking issues with the controllers while playing Dead Effect 2 and SuperHot VR. Right now, this is the best headset for gaming hands down.

Tried them all..this Headset is by far the best. Great resolution with non existent screen door effect. Tracking is pretty good for just front facing cameras. Very comfy. Great sound. Easy setup. Overall my favorite VR Headst.

First of all, the screen is fantastic. It’s the best there is right now. No “god rays,” and the “screen door effect” is so minimal it’s not even worth mentioning. People had mentioned some problems with the controllers, and, where there are some glitches, you learn to handle the equipment; it’s a learning curve like everything else. You can set up a border so that you don’t run into things or smash your controller into a wall. I really like the controllers, by the way. They’re very comfortable and easy to use. I love the Windows MR interface. I also think that when all is said and done, Samsung will be the King of VR. They offer such a high quality experience with an extremely simple set up: I plug in a USB3. I plug in a HDMI. I use my Odyssey headset. I have fun. If your on the fence about which VR headset to buy - this one.....you’re welcome.

After doing a review on the multiple headsets out there and coming to the conclusion that I didn't want to set up for room scale, I looked into Windows mixed reality. The Samsung Odyssey is a great unit because very much it is plug-and-play with a great resolution higher than any other headset out there currently. It's comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. With that you have the ability to draw your room scale as large as your play area regardless of space. Whether you have a 10 x 10 room or 4 x 4 this headset works great. If you can find it on sale even better. I bought it when I was released but I currently have seen it for lower than listed MSRP. With this headset. I have also been able to play games from the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift as well as the windows mixed reality store the windows mixed reality store.

I only say that because I haven't played with Odyssey Plus yet. I've had this headset for a year and a half now. It is still going strong. Never had any "major" issues. I do like the built in headphones. The sound is better than I expected. The visuals are great. The headphones was the selling point for me. I do not regret this purchase at all. I give it 4.75 stars.

A lot less god rays, less screen door and much sharper than rift! The rift controllers are awesome the odyssey not so great. Very short wires and you will need to find an extension for the usb and hdmi ! Oculus with revive doesn’t give the full experience because you need the touch sensors but Steam seems to be pretty good and may later be great. In the end good luck finding cables and the best portal for content in the future

I live in a mobile home and having an area designated just to play in VR is a pain. that is why I looked for system that didn't require sensor or a big area. The samsung odyssey is perfect for that. Also, i was impressed at the low quality monitor in the Oculus, not the case with this headset, the screen effect is minimal to none. the tracking of the controllers is 95%. the only minimal issue is looking away while trying to interact with the controllers, because they are tracked with cameras in the headset. it is heavy though, I have found using a beenie solved the problem. WORTH IT.

Great MR/AR setup. Good build quality, easy to adjust to fit my large head. I want to try and use the controllers on non vr games. they feel like 2 halves of a ps4 controller, which is very cooll. good cabling, the end splits into usb and hdmi at the end and its long. kinda wish they sold a display stand for it.

What you will love about this VR headset is it works with Steam so countless VR programs you can find some even free. Also the setup is pretty quick and easy as you don't have a lot of sensors to setup because they are all built in too the headset. Sound is also pretty good and the controllers are easy to use. I did have a little difficulty getting the controllers to pair but that was about it. You will also need as good 6x6x6 feet play area to get the full effect of this.

I chose this over the Rift and Vive because there are no sensors to be mounted. I am able to take my VR setup anywhere with ease. Very little setup required and minuscule screen door effect. The headset itself could be a little more comfortable but it’s not a deal breaker.

I had to return Oculus Rift with several reasons and decided to try this headset. I love this with the following reasons: 1. My gpu has only 1 hdmi port connected to 4k tv. Oculus rift does not work while connecting 4k tv. This headset works fine via displayport to hdmi adapter. 2. It is easier to adjust the headset to my head with the adjustment wheel. I wear glasses and had a hard time to put on the oculus rift but this is easier to put it on even with glasses. 3. Set up is easier. I needed a bluetooth dongle but other than that, it was easier to setup with the Windows MR portal. 4. It is more comfortable and better picture quality. I'm not sure if it's really better picture quality than oculus rift, but it looks same or better from my first impression. The only issue is the lack of software. I'm very looking forward to enjoying more in the future.

After reading up on VR and spending a weekend using the Oculus Rift, I decided to try the Odyssey. I'm glad i did. For those of you who might have tried the PSVR and became sick, I did too. I've had no nausea with either the Odyssey or Rift The Odyssey's visuals are best in class with the highest resolution available for a fully-featured, working VR headset (PIMAX's res is higher, but the headset's usability is questionable). The images are crisp and noticeably better than the Rift. Be aware that all VR headsets have a screen door effect because the screens are so close to your eyes. With the Odyssey, the screen door effect is minimal. The headset is very comfortable. My longest session so far has been 5 hours with no discomfort at all. The built-in headphones sound great, and the volume control rocker on the headset is a nice touch. You can position the earphones over the ear for full immersion or just in front of the ear to enjoy the sound but still be aware of your surroundings. Also a nice touch. The headset is adjustable and fits on large heads like mine well and it adjusts to a very small size as well. The headset tracking and controller tracking works almost perfectly for every game I've tried. I say almost perfectly because on very rare occasions, tracking will be lost for a split-second, when I keep my hands behind my back for too long. So the loss of tracking is really user error. And not having to deal with setting up tracking stations is awesome. To get the most out of the headset, you'll want to sit, stand, and move around. With the attached cord, you'll have a nice, but small play space. I extended my play space to 14' x 16', and it works perfectly. When you extend your play space, you cant use cheap cables or a single long HDMI cable. It doesn't work. I tried. So I bought a 15 ft, powered USB 3.0 extension on Amazon ($22), 2, 6 ft 4K rocketfish HDMI cables at Best Buy ($40), a female to female rocketfish HDMI coupler ($20), and a powered rocketfish HDMI splitter ($69.99). I tried a cheap splitter, but it didn't work. USB extension connects to computer and headset. HDMI cable 1 connects to computer and powered splitter. HDMI cable 2 connects to powered splitter and coupler. Coupler connects to headset. Use electrical tape to reinforce connections and anchor the splitter and cords to the desk where your computer sits using gorilla tape or something more sophisticated. Trust me on this :) To prevent cables from tangling, foam pipe insulation works great. Buy all of your games on Steam VR, because they all work, even if the game only shows Vive or Oculus compatibility. The WMR controllers are hybrids of the Vive and Oculus controllers, so everything works. You can also play Oculus Store exclusive games using the Steam Revive add-on. Robo Recall is the only Oculus Store game that keeps crashing. Guaranteed Fun for Everybody Games: Space Pirate Trainer Audioshield Raw Data Robo Recall (When it works) Rec Room Superhot VR Quivr Echo Arena (very fast paced, no gravity game that might cause nausea) Serious Weight Loss Games. Wear a sweat band for these. I lost 10 pounds in three weeks for my daughter's wedding: Box VR Holopoint Audioshield Amazing AAA Titles: Elite: Dangerous Fallout 4 (not perfect, but it's still incredible) Project Cars 2 And being ex-military, Onward is in a class by itself. Hope this review helps you to make a decision.

The visual quality is pretty good, the functionality and smoothness of the tracking is impressive. It is still very early in the VR tech to get much of anything usefull out of it though.

Overall great product. Went with Samsung WMR headset because of the amoled screen with better resolution compared to other WMR variants. Was impressed to learn resolution is actually better than vive or rift as well. Have demo'd both rift and vive and can say visually the Samsung is superior, though all are still clearly behind your average monitor in terms of clarity. No issues with motion sickness. Setup is very easy though I wish these would include a Bluetooth dongle for the controllers.
