A new iconic experience from the master of horror Shinji Mikami. Except for minor faults The Evil Within II is well sculpted and defined the precision and craftsmanship is breathtaking. Character Development, Narrative, Gameplay, Performance capture are all beautifully packaged the love and passion put into this game is inspiring. The atmosphere dark and very cinematic. The gameplay, animations is absolutely better than first game. Story is strong and deep, especially the starting sequence is incredibly impressive. It's definitely one of the best games on this generation.

This game is a blast to play. Good survival-horror, a crazily-effective take on the concept of open-world gaming, and a really captivating story. Yes, some parts of the plot are a bit cheesy, but even the best Resident Evil games have their fair amount of cheese. I played the original Evil Within despite some murky reviews, and also despite being genuinely terrified by the premise. The story presented in the original was intriguing until the realization that it was getting very convoluted with no chance of gaining clarity. The controls weren't too bad once I adjusted, but they were somewhat clunky. Either way, it was Survival-horror, terrifying in spots, and the boss fights were very engaging. Though many fans of the OG will not agree, the mechanics and story are much better in the Evil Within 2. It is still very much a survival-horror when played on the moderate-to-higher difficulties, and many elements are absolutely chilling. However, the scares and atmosphere aren't quite on par with the first (but they are much better than a lot of the schlock that's been pushed out in the past several years). Overall, though, I feel that the Evil Within 2 is the better game, and really improved a lot of the hang-ups of the first entry. Lastly, as the question comes up a lot - no, you don't have to play through the first to enjoy this one. This game does a nice job of incorporating a recap of the first game and includes it in a way that won't make people who missed the first one feel lost. If anything, play through this one first then pick up the first as a sort of prequel. However, I will say that a major plot-point of the first game will be spoiled by playing this one first.

Where do I start, graphics 300 % better than first time and first was great, Horror ,Action, Storyline, Character Arcs, KIDs under 14 shouldn't play this, but as one of the reasons I left MSN and Became a Loyal PSN Member, Sony doesn't take that from kids playing mature games should they keep talking Adult Smack. Onto the MAIN REVIEW ! BUY IT< PLAY IT AND GET READY FOR A HECK OF A FUN AND SCARY RIDE ! Twisted

I played and beat the first evil within, which is why i needed to play this one. It has some areas that are a little open world versus the previous title, vioce acting also doesn't sound as great as the first title but the graphics look better. There are a few jump scares but it's just a creepy game. If you enjoy horror I would recommend this to you, just don't expect something like Outlast.

If you enjoyed the first game, then you will really appreciate the direction that the developer (Tango Games) decided to take for this sequel. I'm not going to spend any time talking about the actual game mechanics because a majority of people that plan to play this are already familiar with the original game. This game is far more polished than the first Evil Within. The tweaked the difficulty so it's not as punishing and boosted the graphics. This game looks really good on a PS4 Pro. They removed those annoying cropped black bars from the top and bottom of the screen to maximize the available area on screen which was an added plus as well. I personally think that the story is more refined as well; it's more linear and easier to follow. Basically, buy this game if you enjoyed your experience playing the first Evil Within.

So take the first game and throw away ammo pickups. There's no hallways to run through, collect ammo then shoot your way to the checkpoint. Instead you're running around the open world searching for very scarce ammo to then unload all of it into one or two zombies. I've only played a little bit of the game, but I see now it'll take a lot of patience and sneaking to get anywhere in this game. No shooting your way through. Graphically it's very nice. Good art direction. Gameplay wise, it's probably not for everyone. I'd check a few YouTube videos on gameplay to see if it's your thing.

I'm not a huge horror fan, but I enjoy action horror. Evil Within 1 was a mix of both genres and it partially worked, but that game was designed horribly. One shot enemies, weird lvl design, shifty storytelling, and a frustrating upgrade system. Evil Within 1 felt like crap when it released. Evil Within 2 fixes all of that by adding a charismatic story, reworking the main protagonist to be interesting, and actually writing that has heart. The character still moves like he's stuck in quick sand, but he doesn't appear to pass out after a 4 sec sprint. The semi openworld achieves its purpose while retaining the fear factor, but remaining fun unlike EW1. Overall, I was impressed with this title. Imo, this was as good as Resident Evil 2 remake.

Evil Within 2 is very similar to the first title, only this time Bethesda added open world elements to the game. The horror is present, and so is the challenge. The story falls apart, but aside from these the game is highly enjoyable. And you have to give credit to the publisher for not including micro-transactions in the single player campaign like other AAA publishers are doing today.

This game is the biggest surprise of the year, the first one was just an okay game, I was bit cautious buying this one, but all of my worries were put to rest about an hour in, it better in almost every way, the plot is much easier to understand, the gameplay is better, great boss fights, terrifying atmosphere, everything you want from a survival horror game.

The graphics for the Evil Within 2 are a huge difference, core gameplay remains the same as the first, & the fact that it’s a little more open world along with side missions, just makes this game much more interesting to explore & level up your gear/abilities. Definitely worth trying out, keep in mind that it’s still a horror/suspense game in the end.

I was a big fan of the first Evil Within, what I've played so far of the second game I've really enjoyed the open world aspect. There are a lot of improvements over the first game in terms of gameplay. If you're a big fan of survival horror or psychological games you need to pick up this game.

This game was very fun to play. The graphics and environment was much improved and the gameplay kept me on my toes the whole time. Voice acting and dialogue could use a bit of work, but overall this was an enjoyable horror survival game. Both the suspense horror and jump scares were nicely mixed and never felt overly cheesy, or out of place. The pacing can be uneven at times and I have mixed feeling about the slightly more open world. But I would still highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys a solid gaming experience and not just survival horror addicts.

The original Evil Within was an utterly original horror experience, and its 2017 sequel builds upon that already impressive reputation. Though the controls are still a bit clunky -- that comes with the genre's history, unfortunately -- the introduction of an open world is an exciting step forward for the entire survival horror genre.

I really enjoy Resident Evil type games. The Evil WIthin 2 have some open-world elements in the first 5-6 chapters of the game. The story progress of the game goes by chapters. You can go into a fight guns blazing or you can be like solid snake and take out enemies stealthily. Of course, certain enemies and all bosses you have to fight them head on. But overall, I enjoyed the game very much. You can get 100% achievement with 2-3 playthroughs. If you play on the nightmare difficulty with your first playthrough, you can get 100% achievement with two playthroughs. There is a new game+ for any difficulty you complete the game in. If you beat the game in casual difficulty, and you want to start playing a game in the nightmare difficulty, New Game+ will not be available for that higher difficulty. New Game+ is only available for a difficulty you completed and lower (if that makes sense).

This sequel does a much better job explaining the backstory of the first game as well and what was going on. The atmosphere is amazing. They have add d some really nice features in comparison to the first game. I very much liked this game, and definitely recommend it if you liked the first one.

They don’t give you much ammo in this game which is pretty lame! The voice acting is generic along with the controls and most of the creatures you have to kill it’s better than the first one for sure but not by much!

The Evil Within 2 has much better pacing and structure compared to the first game. Not as linear because they give you an open world map to explore and side missions to complete. It's only $30 dollars as I write this review so now is the time to buy.
