QuestionIs this machine capable of sewing denim/jeans or upholstery fabric? If so, does it come with the heavy duty needle required? Or would I need to look at a heavy duty model? What is the least expensive model with that capability? Thx

- Answer The Brother XR-9550PRW can sew up to 6mm in thickness, when using a larger size needle. The machine comes with a needle set that contains sizes 11, 14 and 16.

QuestionDoes this machine have a hard case?

- Answer It comes with a "HARD COVER" which sits on top of the machine. There is no mechanism to attach it to the machine. It cannot be used to make a carrying case. A remedy is to buy the Singer soft, padded carrying case. It holds the machine, the extended table, foot pedal, power cord and sewing notions. The case is great. The 2, 2-way zippers open the case on 3 sides for easy loading of the machine.

QuestionDoes the stupid thing come with a foot pedal? Not sure why this info is so hard to find. And if it doesn't, how do you control the movement of the material?

QuestionThe specs for Brother XR9550 say that the machine comes with an 'LCD Wide Table'. Is that the 'table' pictured to the left of the sewing needle? Or is there some table included? I wonder if I need to purchase a sturdy table or sewing cabinet as well?

- Answer Yes, it does it is in a separate box. Easy to install. I think a sturdy table is all you need. I put it on a 4 ft folding table bought at wallyworld years back. The pic is on the coffeetable but I just set up the little fold table and place the machine on it and it is perfect. That is the second picture of the table

- Answer Current specifications are printed on rating plates of all Brother Products. Each product is designed and CSA/UL approved as such. Although the use of transforms to alter power supplies may be used, a minimum of 2.0Amp (or as indicated on rating plate) is required for Home Sewing Machines. Performance may vary between transformer manufacturers and as such we cannot guaranty results.

- Answer Yes it has applique function. Displayed on the Machine. Only 1 section it does not have flip chart of Appliques.

- Answer A walking-foot would take care of the thickness. But as general the regular foot is fine up to medium thickness.

- Answer There is a DVD that comes with it and it is good. Also follow the numbers and the diagram on the top of the machine and follow the numbers after watching the DVD. I did it you can too.

- Answer The table comes with it. It is packed separate easy to place on. The cover is ok I was not expecting that. I was hoping more of a lockdown case. But I put my new machine in the locked down portable hard case (lightweight) and I put the cover it is plastic and it will protect the machine on the old machine and I bought a nice soft case and it works perfect. This soft bag I bought would work perfect with your new machine. I feel lots of accessories you need do come with it. In the picture the of the Walking Foot did not come with it I had it already. For heavy material it is best to use a Walking Foot Brother brand. That does not come with it.
