QuestionMy rug has fringe. Will the Roomba get stuck?

- Answer It depends on how long and thick the fibers are. I have a throw rug that it always gets stuck on so I use the “keep out zone” feature to avoid it. My family room carpet is longer fibers, but not quite as thick and it has no problem.

QuestionTwo of the vacuums have a 40x suction. How much different in function does that really provide?

- Answer Its noticeable if you have had older models. The suction intensifies when it goes from floor (in my case tile) to carpet. It also picks up a larger amount of dirt than previous models. The brushes are a type of flexible plastic, which in some cases get stuck with longer threads and can tear. They're about 40-50 dollars for a replacement. The unit only comes with a spare side brush and filter.

QuestionDoes this come with a home base or not? Bought today and there's no home base in the box. Online mentions home base included in one section, another section does not mention it as included. The box says it's included, but here I am without one.

- Answer Yes, the s9 has an included Home Base unit in the box. If you're thinking of the Clean Base unit (for automatic dirt disposal) that comes with the s9+.

- Answer Hi Pol - The model doesn't have dual-voltage. Just keep in mind (if it applies) that Roomba should only be used in the country in which it was purchased so the warranty isn't voided.

QuestionCan you set specific areas you don't want it to clean in a room. Example, my current roomba likes to end her day by going under my love seat. So can you block of certain parts of a room?

QuestionDoes the S9 require adequate lighting in order to clean an area? In other words, will it not enter a closet if the light is not on? The Roomba i7 would stop and turn around at the entrance of an open closet if the closet light was not on.

- Answer iRobot Roomba vacuums can operate even with simple ambient light, but not in total darkness. What may help with either the i7 or s9 robots is to run a training mission and/or clean your floors with the closet light on until your floor plan map is complete. You can then label the closet as its own room so the Roomba can recognize it going forward.

QuestionCan the charging base be placed 1.5 feet from a corner wall on one side?

- Answer It’s recommended that the Clean Base have at least 1.5 feet of space on each side and a minimum 4 feet of clearance in front of the charging plate (with the back flush against the wall) to allow the Roomba to properly dock and un-dock.

QuestionWe have a 3story house.Can any of your models be setup for multiple floors? Can I just take it upstairs, flip a switch or whatever to tell the unit it's on a different floor; or, is this limited to just one floor. What would be good for multiple floors?

- Answer My Roomba 960 will operate on different levels. If it's not the level with the base, it'll just end where ever you started it.

- Answer The filter is disposable. I am still using the original filter after a few months as I take the filter outside and tap it against something hard and the dust trapped in the filter falls out.

QuestionWill it go over the room separators that are typically on the floor in between rooms by the doors?

- Answer Yes, when it comes to an edge between rooms or to a throw rug you will see it stop momentarily, the sound changes pitch, and then it starts over the separation. Actually kind of fascinating watching in sort of considering and then making up its little mind to go ahead.

- Answer You sure can. You'll want model #4626191 (available on Best Buy.com). This is the Clean Base for the s9, and includes a replacement bin to allow for auto-empty.

QuestionI have tried a 600 series Roomba, and it will not go over my area rugs because of the black borders due to the cliff sensors. Will this also be a problem with the s9 Roomba series?
