- Answer No. Your child can turn the august lock just as easy as a regular dead bolt lock can be turned.

- Answer Since you are not replacing your whole lock, you can use your key that came with you lock. You get warnings about the batteries life from the APP. Replace the batteries when the APP tells you.

QuestionDoes this work during internet outage?

- Answer During an internet, or power, outage, you'd be able to use the lock via Bluetooth. Meaning, you can lock and unlock using your smartphone or Apple Watch within Bluetooth range (10 feet or so). You would not be able to use the Wi-Fi functionality during an internet or power outage. If you purchase the August Smart Keypad, that works with Bluetooth so it can always be used to unlock the door, even if power or internet is out.

QuestionI have an outdoor front patio door that I would like to use this on. This way deliveries can be placed inside the gate and be secure, but my home is still locked up while I am gone. Anyone know if this lock would be ok to use outdoors?

- Answer Ok so if the porch is covered and protected from weather except for temperature then I would say yes that this could be used. You might expect the batteries to be effected by the colder temps on the porch as opposed to being on the inside of your front door. This means your battery life would not be as long as an indoor mounted device. Now if the door your wanting to put it on is exposed to the weather (rains,snow, etc. then I would say no since this is designed for indoor or sheltered environment. There is no weather resistant rating for the device hence no protection from water damage, direct sunlight, ice etc. You may want to consider Level Bolt for your needs since it is mounted inside the door protecting it from the weather. - Answer Yes. The diameter of the locks are completely different, so the mounts aren’t interchangeable. The good news is it’s an easy 15 minute job!

- Answer Unless you activate (arm) the auto-lock feature, the lock will remain in whatever position you set it in. When you rise in the morning, unlock the door and it will stay that way until you lock it again. Once locked, it can be opened automatically if you have activated (armed) the auto-unlock feature. The main advantage of this lock is that you can control it from a remote location without using a key. You can lock or unlock it from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and you can be as close as standing right next to it with you phone in hand. The only "automatic" actions it affords are to auto-lock if you are more than 100 or so yards away outward bound and auto unlock when you are within 30 or so yards inbound. Hope this helps.

- Answer You can manually unlock it. At any point, the lock can be manually locked and unlocked. You can also set a timer for it to lock itself after it is unlocked.

- Answer While I have never used it that way there does appear to be an option in settings to disconnect WiFi while retaining local access. This would make sense as Bluetooth it’s preferred method of connection anyway, the WiFi is really only present for remote access and HomeKit, Amazon, Google access.

- Answer Yes, that is one of the features I can more reliably get to work with the device. It uses Bluetooth through the August app.

- Answer Thank you for your question. You can receive smart alerts for manual operations (manually unlocking/locking). Set up a Wi-Fi bridge if you want to access the activity log remotely.

- Answer I don't see why it wouldn't work. However I would strongly advise you to keep a manual method of entry as a usable option to gain entry just in case you find yourself in a situation where you might loose your phone or the BATTERYS to the lock go bad and your unable to operate the lock to get inside. I would like to note the app does come with a low battery indicator so it would be rare to be surprised by a dead battery.

- Answer August doesn’t really disclose what type of wifi card is used. This lock is not bandwidth intensive and so it is not necessary for it to have it use the latest and greatest technology. If your modem or modem / router has a 2.4 band, you’re in good shape.
